When I was young, I would go into tackle stores and drag the rod tip across the floor as mentioned above. It was amazing how much more sensitive the higher end rods were. I used this method for years. Many years later I went to a tackle store with a friend and showed the technique to him. He said I was full of it and proposed a blind test to see if I could tell a difference between the high end and low end rods. I accepted the challenge....I failed miserably. It's hard to tell a difference if you don't know the price of the rod. ?

As a teenager 40+ years ago I waded small creeks in middle Tennessee. The Rapala Floating Minnows and Rebel Wee Crawfish were my favorites. I fished mostly craws May through July and mostly Rapalas in August and September. I caught a lot of smallmouth and spots. Less than 20 on a given day was a bad day but they were small. Those were good times.

I’m sure gasoline is much cheaper than ethanol right now but the ethanol free gas still cost more.

Where did you see this warning? I don't own lithium ion batteries but I've considered them. The ones I've looked at can be wired in series or in parallel. I wouldn't take anyones word on matters like this other than the manufacturer. I agree with @Catt , too many variables. Water temperature is also a factor. You won’t find warm fertile water in the south that’s gin clear. That same water is clearer in the winter when the big ones seem easier to catch. Around here we have a choice of highland and lowland reservoirs. Most people would say you will catch bigger fish in the lowlands but the highland reservoirs have more than their share of record fish. So my conclusion... I don’t know?

I think the answer to your question is no. I suggested this in a meeting of a club I was in 25 years ago. We were making all these dumb rules to deal with guys that were joining the club to compete for the money but did not take part in the spirit of community in the club. There was concern that one guy was cheating. I though the easiest way to prevent all these problems was to eliminate pot. There was absolutely no interest in the idea among the club members at the meeting.

I started out catfishing with my grandfather. I got my hands on an old cork popin bug when I was about 10 years old and on my very first cast with it a bream hit it. I was too shocked to set the hook but a few cast later I caught one and I've been hooked on fishing with artificial lures ever since. I slowly transitioned from bream to bass over the next five years.

They added chirp 2D sonar to the latest generation of Helix and Solix units which gives them higher resolution returns.

I can’t speak concerning KC but they are an increasing problem in Tennessee. As far as jumping, the silver carp jump when startled, other species of Asian carp do not. Also note that it is illegal to transport a live Asian carp.

I got mine a few weeks ago and haven’t even opened it. Times sure have changed. The year was 1984. I was in college and went home with a girl I was dating. We were sitting on the couch and there on the end table was her father’s Bass Pro catalog. First one I had ever seen. It made the girl mad that I was more interesting in the catalog than in meeting her parents. I think her father understood. Back in those days the catalogs cost $2. I had to mail them a check to get my own catalog.
