The difference between first and last place has been around 100 lbs in most of the rounds this week. These are the best bass fishermen in the world using the best electronics that money can buy. Some of them make it look very easy and they're the ones on TV. The ones at the bottom prove it's not always easy even if you have state of the art equipment and you know how to use it.

Replacing an undamaged split ring with another more expensive split ring make no sense to me. Recommending that others replace their split rings and being paid money by the manufacturer of the split rings you are recommending makes more sense.

Every time I look at the results of a professional tournament I always check the top and the bottom results. The top shows me what’s possible. The bottom makes me feel better about some of my outings. This tournament has been particularly interesting in that regard.

I'm no mechanic but I suspect it could be a lot of things. My first boat would start stalling out while idling when the spark plugs got old. That was always my sign that it was time to change the plugs.

I’m not sure exactly what you’re asking. There are spray in foam products you can use. There is nothing that you can add to the inside of a boat that will make it float higher in the water unless the boat is leaking. Foam is often added to boats because it is light weight and takes up space which prevents water from filling that space if the boat has a leak. It also adds some strength and sound insulation. Adding foam adds weight which will make the boat set lower in the water.

I don't think Duckett provides line/lure rating on any of his rods. Maybe he never got that information from the Chinese factory that made the rods.

I would move the motor to the front if your boat has a place for it. You should be able to reverse the head of the trolling motor to give you what you want. I don't know exactly what boat you have or what trolling motor so I'm making some assumptions.

I would connect the fuse box directly to the battery and not through the 60amp fuse. The way you have it will work but if the trolling motor blows the 60amp fuse then you loose power to everything.

I always ask myself a question when I start catching a lot of fish on a particular color. Am I catching these fish because they like the color or because I like the color and it's what I fish the most? Only you can answer that question. There are also multiple scientific studies going back decades that have found that largemouth have difficulty seeing the color blue. I believe this research so I would question why a fish would aim for a color that they have a hard time seeing?

It’s amazing to me how clever marketing can convince fishermen that something simple and cheap needs to be replaced with something complex that cost ten time more. I’m sure battery stratification is a real thing. I can see where it could shorten the life of a battery in a boat that’s only used a couple of times a year. I’ve never seen any evidence that it’s a problem in a boat that’s used regularly. I used a cheap charger for years. Seemed to work great. Maybe my batteries would have lasted ten years instead of seven if I had used a high end charger but I doubt it.

Is it better to cover more water quickly or less water slowly? It’s one of the greatest philosophical questions mankind has ever faced.

I've found errors in every map I have ever used. The Navionics maps around here are pretty bad. The Lakemaster maps for most of the lakes I fish are based on recent sonar surveys and offer details you want find on any other map. They also have errors you want find on others maps. I think you have to judge each map on it's own merits. Navionics may have the best map of a particular lake. Lakemaster may have the best for another. In some cases, they may all use the same publicly available data for a given lake.

Cottonmouths are the most fun. It's amazing how fast you can run in waist deep water when you're strongly motivated to do so.

When I was a teenager, I spent most of my spare time wading creeks during the Summer. Had a lot of fun and caught a bunch of fish. I never caught a smallmouth over 2 pounds but man did a catch a lot of them. Most were very small but I don't think I ever got skunked. Can't say that about lake fishing.

Sounds like you forgot to tell them about the old chemical plant that was on the property before it was turned into a residential community and why you would NEVER eat anything that comes out of one of those lakes. ?

I'm not a garmin guy so I won't try to answer that. In terms of connectivity, everything on my boat can talked to everything else. Two Humminbird Solix, 360 imaging, Minnkota Ultrex all networked and can share everything. The most critical connection in my mind is being able to find a spot while at the console, mark it, and then be able to see it when you move up front to fish it. All the other connectivity is VERY nice but I could live without it.

No. Unfortunately we live in a world where different brands of electronics do not talk to each other. High end trolling motors are also being added to the network and only talk to one brand. So if you want to connect everything you must choose one Garmin, Lowrance, or Humminbird/Minnkota.
