What are the general expectation when going on somebody else's boat?
If it's just leisure fishing and not a tournament then I wouldn't sweat it too much, it should be laid back. I would try to contact the boater and see what he thinks. I would be glad to answer those questions as a boater and would be pleased the non boater was even conscious of these things. When I have buddies out to just fish for the day, I don't really put a limit on rods or gear, but it's usually just two of us in my deep v so storage isn't really an issue. I tell them to bring whatever snacks or drinks they might want. I never take gas money, because I'd be going out with or without them anyway. I'm not one to nickle and dime people. My priority is to just get us both on fish and have fun.

Any Luck In Upstate Ny?
Fished my second tournament ever last Saturday outta Fair Haven, managed a 19.50 lb bag for 4th place out of 17 boats (5 boats didn't weigh in) 3rd place was 19.95, so we were kinda close to the money. Our bag was entirely smallies, and I don't think I saw anyone weigh a largemouth but I could be wrong. The same club will be fishing there again this Saturday but I have a wedding to attend, not entirely heart broken as the weather sounds like it will be a doozy by then. Kinda doubting the lake will even be fishable, last I looked Friday forecasted waves occasionally hitting 10ft..........No thanks. However I'll be interested to see the results from them fishing the bay instead.

Good to hear! Thanks

Garmin 7 SV on Lund
I'm hoping to upgrade my console fish finder for next season without breaking the bank on anything too crazy, so I've settled on the Garmin Striker 9 SV, since I have the 7DV on the bow. Is there anything I need to be concerned about mounting a side imaging transducer to an aluminum hull? I recall reading a while back someone having issues, but can't find more info. Any insight would be appreciated!

Battery Charger Question - Dual Bank
You can, but I don't really recommend it. I would get a 3 bank personally, but I don't make long runs on my boat to really have much faith in it getting a full charge outta the alternator. I would say though I would rather charge the two TM batteries with 2 bank charger and keep the cranking by itself w/ the alternator instead of doing what you asked.

Star Brite Ultimate Carpet Clean Review ~ Video
Thank you, always looking for better ways to keep mine clean. Been borrowing a little hand held carpet shampooer from my Dad and it's just not really enough.

Improper “form” when I set the hook
Setting the hook is one thing, and the more you fish the more natural it becomes. Almost a cross between muscle memory and just a reflex. A natural reaction is to just pull the rod when you feel a tug. As far as form....I think that's where you get into the realm of overthinking everything.

Why do I even fish?
We've all been there, but usually all my skunking comes during those dog days of summer. Honestly man, if you're to the point of just feeling burned out or strung out from getting your hopes up to be constantly let down by being skunked, you need to just chill out and not fish for a while. Get other stuff done at home, put time into other hobbies, hang out with friends who have nothing to do with fishing, or whatever. Clear your head from the craziness that constant skunking can really make you feel. Here in NY there's times of the year where although I am so excited to get out, I literally have to train myself to not get my hopes up too high, because the summer bite is one that can either be great or just flat out boring and non existent. Luckily we are at that transition point where it's game on again.

Dock fishing and crazy home owners
I keep my boat at my family's cottage on a hoist, we have a nice dock that a lot of people fish and typically if I'm out there I just strike up conversation. Usually people will cast a few times and move onto the next dock, so no big deal. We don't have anything near ours to really get hung up on. I will say my Dad keeps a very nice Chris Craft on his hoist that, if a half oz jig got bounced off of, would probably provoke a slight meltdown from either him or I. But it's never happened so no sense in getting worked up or the "what if's." When I fish docks, I skip over the ones where people are out sitting on, or swimming off or fishing or whatever. Also I try not to be the creepy fisherman type who slowly fishes by sun bathing women on the end of their docks. I'll give them their space too, lol.

New to creek fishing
Sounds like a spot I would wade and fly fish using streamers, particularly wooly buggers. If fly fishing isn't an option then try Ned rigs or even just a nice marabou jig bounced around. I tie steelhead jigs and creek and canal smallies love them.

Hate PWC's? Well, this might change your mind.
ehhhh I'll stick with my boat, but I'm sure there's a market for these. Jet ski's are the worst, until you're on one. Then they are pretty cool.

Any Luck In Upstate Ny?
Anyone fishing the Arcadia tournament at Fair Haven this Saturday?

Number of chargers for three batteries
For a couple years I had the same setup, 2 TM batteries and 1 cranking. I only used a 2 bank onboard charger for the TM batteries and let the alternator do the rest for the cranking. I never felt overly comfortable with this although I never had issues. I upgraded this season to a 3 bank and prefer it way more. That extra peace of mind on the water is worth it.

Cost To Maintain : Two Stroke vs. Four Stroke ?
I have a 75 Honda 4stroke on my Lund that no way is running me anywhere near $700 annually. Upper and lower unit oil, pump/impeller, plugs, plus non engine related electrical/rigging got my bill to about $600 last year. For regular yearly maintenance I'm at under $300.

Any tips on installing onboard charger?
Sorry, mine is actually a Rebel XL Sport, which I think now would be closest to the current Rebel XS Sport, but the layout has remained the same mostly - battery compartments in the back under those seats which fold down into a deck.

Any tips on installing onboard charger?
I just can't believe the setup would be that much different than mine. The only thing to throw mine outta whack would be if I used a 36v trolling motor, in which case I'd have 2 batteries in each compartment then have to mount the charger elsewhere, possibly in the side storage which would be right next to that compartment but would require a bit more drilling.

Any tips on installing onboard charger?
What year is your Rebel? I have a 2010 Rebel ss (17ft) and I have battery compartments at the stern, and my 3 bank charger is mounted in one of those compartments. I wouldn't worry about the 23lbs, although you could spend more and get the lighter Minn Kota Precision charger which is what I went for. I will send pics when I can, my boat is kept an hour away from home.

Fingers/Hand Issues - too much fishing?
I get this too with a baitcaster during the colder months. A lot of times, I'm either throwing a spinnerbait or swimbait, both similar types of casting/retrieving so the constant movement of that creates little cramps here and there. Usually if the fishing is on, then it's easy to ignore the cramps.

Any Luck In Upstate Ny?
I'm in my usual end of summer burn out where I'm sick of the heat and sick of slow fishing. Spent the long weekend grinding it out at Fair Haven with not one impressive fish to show for it, just a few dinks to keep me interested enough. I really wanted to focus on the lake but the wind was kicking and I didn't wanna make the long run to one of usual spots. Fished for a while east of Fair Haven just outta the channel at the first bluff, fishing 30 FOW into 15 and marking nothing. Told myself I'm done until end of the month, then I saw the forecast for next weekend in the low 70s. Even if it's slow, at least it will be perfect temps. The Mrs and I have our first baby due Oct 5th so I think I need to take advantage of the fishing time I have for now!

Any Luck In Upstate Ny?
After Labor Day all that annoying boat traffic dies down significantly.

Just when you think you have it figured out...
Kinda like how a Ned Rig was pulling most of my fish in this summer up until August. Then for whatever reason, spinnerbaits were picking up quality fish (not quantity). Things just change up as we near the end of summer. There's no choice but to just go with it.

Summer Fishing with Senkos!
Haven't put much time in this summer with Senkos, mainly because I was Ned Rigging most of the time up until a couple weeks ago. Now all of the sudden I'm getting the bigger higher quality fish just chucking spinnerbaits, when earlier this year when the water was cold they wouldn't touch a spinnerbait. I don't get it. A couple years ago, I would go out and pretty much ONLY throw senkos.

Richmond, VA - DICK'S LEAVING STONY POINT FASHION PARK
Dick's made some poor business decisions earlier this year which were mostly political and didn't help the company too much, in my opinion. If it's anything like Gander, there will be killer sales more than half off normal price. I got so much stuff when our local Gander was closing down, really should've just bought more. Hard to resist the mid-high end stuff when it's half off or more.
