  1. I look at high price fishing tackle like golf clubs and anything else. No one needs a $500 reel. The fish don't know what you have or don't have. But if you have the best then you can't blame anything on on your equipment. Plus the Stella comes with a lifetime warranty. Thats hard to beat and I think its the only spinning reel that comes with that. But I'm not 100% sure on that. But yeah if you have the best then you can't say anything else might be better until they upgrade the stella. Plus it is a sweet reel period. If you have the money and are willing to spend that on a reel then go for it. You only live once and I've never heard of anyone saying anything bad besides the price of the reel.
  2. Shimano Stella 1000FB St. Croix Avid AVS66MLF 8lb P-Line CX Premium
  3. I talked to one of the Abu's reps at the classic about that reel. comes out in the fall and is going to retail around $280 bucks.
  4. wish i was up in ohio so i could stop at that gander mountain. i plan on buying that exact rod in the next couple months
  5. Went to the Classic on Friday and at the Expo ran into vicious fishing line. i've heard of it before but what I saw it looked good. Does anyone use this stuff and if so is it any good?
  6. roadwarrior the only difference will be mine will be spooled with p-line cx premium 8lb test. switched over to that this year and so far have been really impressed with it.
  7. Going to put it on a 6'6" St. Croix Avid ML rod. By far I think the avids are the best rod for the money and won't stop buying them now just becasue i have a big dollar reel.
  8. Thanks everyone for the input. I've made up my mind and decided to go with the stella fb 100.
  9. Well I look at it like this to. If I go with the stella I can't say that there might be a better reel on the market. I've picked them up before and by far they feel like the best reel made so far. Most people would more than likely agree. Plus $449.88 is a good deal instead of the new ones that are $599.99.
  10. yeah i've been thinking about my options. i just don't want to pass up on the stella and then regret it later. but i want the 1000 size. I use to fish quantum reels and I had more of the size 10 reels then I did the 20 size because I personally like a smaller reel in my hand. But the 1000 size is about what a quantum 15 would be like which would be perfect for me. but thanks for the idea about the stradic and the chronarch mg.
  11. Looking at buying on the the Shimano Stella FB 100 from bass pro. They have them marked down to 449.88. Wondering if anyone has used thees reels. Also thinking about just buying one of the new Sustains and picking up a Curado for about the same as just the stella. But if the stella is worth the money then I'm willing to buy one.
  12. Are you able to fish topwaters with this line or does it sink to fast to be able to throw smaller topwaters like sammy 65s?
  13. I personally like the split grips. That is one of the main reasons I want to get one of legend tournament rods over another avid. I like the split grips alot. I feel like they balance the rod out more for some reason. Plus they make the rods look awsome.
  14. Looking at buying a couple of the st. croix legend tournament rods. Looking at the LTBS66MLF spinning rod and the LTBC68MXF casting rod. Anyone use either theese or any of the other legond tournament rods?
  15. If you have a Bass Pro Shops around you I know every year at the classic they usually mark down a $150 combo down to about $70. I bought one last year. It was one of there extreme combos and I got the 6'6" MH combo. It makes an awsome spinnerbait setup for the price.
  16. Went to a local tackle shop and they just got in some of the new all-star asr rods. I picked up a few and the one that is rated as there spoon rod ( 6'9" M x-fast tip ). Was one of the best rods I've picked up in a long time. Felt like a $200 rod in my book and at only $79.99 they have them way cheaper then they at cabelas. Has anyone been able to use any of theese rods out yet?
  17. yeah i watched the video a few days ago. but the concept behind it is what gets me. should be a killer bait on schooling bass.
  18. I am a huge quantum fan. Most my reels are quantum but I will tell you stay clear of the X-lite Spinning Reel they have. It says it has 6 bearings but I swear there might only be two in it. For $40 it is a rip off. Still quantum makes good reels but unless it is PT then they have a hard time holing up over time.
  19. Has anyone used theese yet. They look like a killer bait. Going to pick some up in the next few weeks and give them a try. Just wondering if anyone has used them yet.
  20. i own the ultra-light version of the pfluger president. By far the best ultra-light reel on the market. I tried a few others but that is the only one that has held up.
  21. That is a good deal. I might have to drive over to dicks and see if they have any over in ashville for under $100.
  22. St. Croix Avid AS66MLF. Going to match it up with the new quantum tour edtion spinning reel in a few more weeks.
  23. Looking at buying either the Quantum Tour Edition PT TE160PT or the Quantum Energy PT E760PT at the bps spring classic. will be doing the reel trade in. So I will save $40 on the tour edition and $30 on the energy. I haven't used either of them in the past. Wondering if anyone that has used either or both would tell me if the tour edtion is worth the extra money over the energy?
  24. I plan on getting a 6'6" UL rod before the spring. Go with a longer rod if you can get away with it. And for lures its hard to beat a 1/16 oz road runner rigged with a crappie critter in chartreuse.
  25. Anyone have one or know anything about theese reels?
