  1. great representation of how "not big" that bait is!
  2. nice - next time dont kill the swimbait but keep up the retrieve or even try speeding it up. Yet another reason to try hard baits u can 180 back in their face.
  3. yea i know right? ;D Seems easy enough RW. I did think about that but I wonder if the "design" of the treble hook (gap size, bend, etc) lends itself to being (more)optimal with 3 points/barbs rather than one. The single "hook" that it becomes after cutting off the other 2 points - how this would be comparable to other styles of hooks... I'm thinking this might be a venture I am going to have to experiment myself! -thx all.
  4. siwash.. circle.. octopus..??? ;D Im more interested in the style than the brand really - I wonder what would offer the best hookup ratio as a treble replacement on a hard bait like that.
  5. ok guys - im trying to use them for species covered with a specific selective gear rules so single point hooks are a must - with that said..? thx
  6. If you had to take the treble hooks off of a hard bait.. say a LC pointer or a lipless crank, what kind of hook would you replace it with and why? thx
  7. its not only the weight of the setup, but the bait too. That plus the casting mechanics changes up the game quite a bit. Casting a swimbait all day is more like "work" than throwing other smaller lighter setups and baits. Just make sure whatever you get matches right with the weight of the baits you are planning on throwing and feels comfortable on the cast and retrieve and you should be good to go!
  8. They are all gonna be heavier than you are used to if you don't chuck em regularly, but IMO its better to try to balance your gear at that level that trying to reduce weight. A 8ft meatstick and a 300/400 size reel is gonna be weighty no matter how you slice it (relatively of course).
  9. If you like to chuck and tuck (rod handle under the armpit) the shimano has a shorter handle then most swimbait rods out there. I don't like their swimbait rods because of this. No clue whats up with the Fenwick.
  10. man that steez+stallion combo is the hotness! exactly my kind of setup! (i have to settle for a cheapo Bosco+Revo SX for the budget all-business look lol)
  11. More people that doubt these baits and the market the better! ;D
  12. my rig on a usual outing is 3-4 swimbait rods and a UL rod (for panfish). Its quite the shock going from the swimbait rod to the UL - i know exactly what u mean. keep throwing a swimbait ;D maybe a different one? outside the box man!
  13. There 's something "unholy" about sitting a Shimano reel on a Daiwa rod and vceversa. ;D aint that the truth
  14. I really agree that the Okumas (only read about, dont have one) are probably the best deal out there, but they are actually $110. I know its only 10 bucks, but under 100 is the request... they used to be 99.. what happened... Popularity is my guess. Production costs are a likely contributor as well. :'( hrm... well if one MUST stay under 100 then i guess the daiwa and the fig rig rods are the only game left (for swimbait "specific" rods anyways).
  15. honestly i feel like silver is possibly the most overrated lake in all of washington. I would keep checking out horseshoe - supposedly some hogs in there.
  16. last i remember he uses okuma SPINNING rigs for throwing swimbaits. Not for the average user 8-).

  18. yup good call my fav hard baits: topwater:3:16 wake jr/baby wake/real deal, deps highsider (not real fond of the walking baits like lunker punker but thats just cuz i suck at it) sinker: BBZ/Kong, Triple trout, kiwami gill
  19. The ABT soft series are actually quite nice and do get bit. Not much experience with the hard bait.
  20. ditto, cept #176 up here
  21. Dont worry it gets sorted out quick when people dont catch on them and go back to using other lures after a few casts
  22. I've caught several 3lb and under smallies on a 6" huddleston trout swimbait this year, and this is on the JIG HOOK, not a stinger. A 4" tube is NOTHING for a smallie to eat up.
