  1. gotta love the heddon prop baits(various sizes) but those others catch em just the same, and i honestly have never met a bass fisherman that hated topwater.
  2. Prop-baits a lot of the time, because they are very threatening to a bass guarding its progeny.
  3. #1 catcher: senko #1 fun : changes frequently #1 for big fish: Jig n craw Reality: almost all baits are pretty good.
  4. Ive wanted to try that for a while, but of course haven't gotten to it yet. But it looks great.? try it out, and tell us how it goes. It helps solve the problem of too many snags, and spices up the action.
  5. People catch fish through the ice don't they? Which means the water is really cold, so its possible when the ice is off for sure, just use some really slow bottom presentations fished really slow (drop shot, finesse jig, ned rig), and you have a good shot.
  6. Apart from doing a polar plunge through the ice last night, i haven't hit the water in 4 months. my new hobby this winter was emptying by bank account on lures i'll never use, just to have something to do that's related to fishing. come quickly spring!
  7. To be honest, i think the opposite may be true. those studies that show not many fish die from tournaments are probably more biased, because fishing and tournaments are so big for local economies, but apart from that, bass populations and sizes are steady or growing well in most of the U.S., so i'm not concerned that its a significant threat at this point, and biologists tend to say the same for most areas of The U.S.
  8. Mountain Dew....oh you were expecting more? Nope! Mountain dew was life, is life, and always will be life. the only thing that beats it, is fishing.
  9. I was wondering what bait all you guys managed to snag your first bass on? I caught my fist on a Rebel Wee Crawfish, it was a Smallmouth out of the Grand river. I had worked really hard to catch that fish, and i would love to here how your first efforts paid off.
  10. Good grief! Every time i look at this thread there is a new page, its going to kill me because i still have some time before i can hit the water?, but keep up the beautiful pictures. ?
  11. bass are fine, i will eat them, but chicken nuggets beat all.
  12. My buddy and i were fishing his farm pond at night, and we gut hooked a 16 incher (didn't weigh it) but it was doomed, so we filleted it, and for lack of knowledge on how to cook it, we threw it in a frying pan with butter, salt, pepper, and lemon juice, and i'll tell you, i thought it would taste like dirt, cause everyone i know said it would, but it tasted amazing! now whenever we fish his pond, well keep one just because its fun, and tasty. i recommend keeping one now and again.
  13. 1. Catch a three pound bass ( I know ? ) 2. Learn a T Rig well 3. Get at least 1 top water fish 4. Get permission to fish a private pond
  14. ^The definition of hell on earth^
  15. I have an assortment of them, and used them pretty extensively, unfortunately, i never caught a single fish with them last season, even when they were hitting top-water, but i would guess the bigger versions tend to catch bigger fish. and the hooks do get dull pretty quick, so a sharpener is important.
  16. Solid choices, reel looks great, and M/F rod will serve you very well. Basically just what everyone else said ?
  17. This ^^^ And If you have the opportunity, find a smaller lake or pond and find where the fish are in that water, and apply the information that you found on the larger body of water. Or just fish the smaller water, because its usually a lot easier to catch fish in that environment.?
  18. A man after my own heart. ?
  19. Booyah Pad Crasher. Incredibly soft body, good hooks, amazing walking action. heart wrenching topwater strikes. also, if mono floats your boat, use it. no harm done.
  20. my only point in telling cjam 93 to buy some if he wanted to know how to they work is because you can always find someone to tell you a product worked well, and someone to tell you it didn't. Thats why there are 1 star reviews and 5 star reviews on the same product. aside from that, i realize how my comment seemed rather rude, and i'm sorry.
  21. If your really wondering, buy a couple and try them ☺️
