Christmas Music Favorites
I'd be happy to never hear another Xmas song for the rest of my life. I'm 53 and I've just heard enough. Reminds me of cash registers and annoying relatives.

Patrick Walter's Livescope Technique
If you want to win money then whatever I guess, but that isn't fishing to me. "The unknown" is a lot of the fun for me. Heck it might be all of it! The whole point for me is the hunt. I like not knowing what I just hooked into until I get it to the boat. Hooking a fish that you had no idea was there...that's everything to me. "Hmm the computer says I should cast 45 feet out thattaway....guess I will" Screw that.

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
I haven't bought anything since I stopped catching bass, but I think I need a frog rod, or maybe a general purpose heavy rod as I don't own one yet. Bait Monkey's working on it for me. Actually though I am building a bed for my minivan so I can make multi-day trips. Probably get a fridge, and I dunno what else, I'll see if the Monkey can help with that too. To stay on topic - last purchase was an Ugly Stik Elite (light) and a Trion reel. Wanna try some creek fishing.

The Annual What You Got For Christmas Thread
I got a $100 check from my Dad, and a $100 check from my Mom. I'm 53 years old. I told them either stop sending the checks or adjust them for inflation!

Pro’s Colors or Pro’s Name is Attached
I have a whole lotta baits from some guy named Ozark Trails. He must not be very good though because they're only $1.94 each! Sorry weird mood tonight, going a little crazy.

How exactly do fish manage to appear in literally every body of water?
All easily explained....refraction, it doesn't, and not very well Science! Depends on the boobs, and also...science! "How fish get to so many waterways" has many explanations, but the main answer is...boobs!

Go-to saying before setting the hook
This isn't AA I think you're okay

Go-to saying before setting the hook
In almost every video I've made I hear myself saying what sounds like "Ooop!" followed by "Got one!" or something similar. I need to do a montage someday.

Anyone still venturing into the Delta?
Ya I want to stick to smaller areas for sure. We used to boat out there when I was a kid, even did some poker runs. My Dad had a boat mfg. business in San Jose. I have a "Best Flush" trophy from 1972 that I hugged all the way home as a 4 year old (in back of my Dad's GTO). I still remember that day. And that trophy ain't no plastic junk like they have now! Anyways, I wouldn't feel safe in any main arms. I know of some small water near Tracy Oasis. It's closer to me too, but I dunno if stripers are there. Also thinking of another place near Manteca that I'd even feel safe going alone, though I'd still rather not. Cold water if I fall in. I'll go for stripes. Not sure if they're this far up right now? I had bad luck after November in 2018. I'm gonna hit the Lathrop area from shore in a week or so just to get a line wet. I'm going nuts.

Fishing pants
I can carry an entire fishing rod with these shorts! They may make a pant as well?

Thank you all!
I've been bass fishing 3 years and learned 95% or more of what I know here at BR. I'm getting consistently better and having more fun. Not sure what more I can say than that! Thanks everyone!

Thank you all!
Agreed, I tried a few other sites and none are even close. Maybe it's because I'm just so used to this one and the people I recognize here. Feels like home. Bass Resource has a good "feel" to it that the others didn't have for me. Like an old comfortable coat maybe. Or an old favorite rod maybe. And the overall site and content can't be beat. I think a lot of it is due to Glenn, his videos, his presence and temperament, even the rules that keep us in line. He sets the tone.

Lakes in The Bay Area without much Pressure?
Everything I've read says that the lake is not open to the public and fishing has been prohibited for many years. Figures. Owned by SF.

Lakes in The Bay Area without much Pressure?
Yep it will be a long drive for the trout. I'm designing a foldable bed for the minivan just for that. I'm just gonna have to get used to the idea of fishing multiple days to make it worth the drive! Haha I'm excited to try it. In fact that reminds me - I'm going to order the mattress right now!

You Are Hung In A Tree? Pull Up To The Bank And Get It Or No?
It's Christmas and I'm bored, so... I went one day a few months ago and snagged on the branch of a fallen tree. The branch broke and I reeled it in Same day, same spot, I fish around this sunken limb that's in 2-3 feet of water. I usually can slip my T-rigged plastic over it safely, but I finally snagged it once. It took me several minutes but I reeled in that sucker with 10 pound mono. Well no more snags there, though the fish don't have that hiding spot anymore. One more, I wish I had this on video. You probably had to be there. Me and a friend were in his jon boat at Coyote Lake casting towards shore. He casted one so far and high that it went like 20 feet up into a tree. It seemed like it was a mile away too. The funny thing to me is as soon as he cast it I could see where it was going. It flew up very high and slowly arced toward the trees. I looked at him and he just kinda watched it go. I said, "Dude what the heck was THAT!?" and he just replied, "I don't know" He didn't try to stop it at all. That lure was gone. Knocked outta the park.

Where/how do you keep your "used" soft plastic baits?
I have 2 smaller Ziplocs in my backpack. One for used reusable plastics. One for trashed plastics that can still be used as trailers. Those go in the big Ziploc that has all my plastics bags. I like to keep them separate from the new ones.

BPS buys SW.
And it's nothing compared to Amazon. I remember around 1980 I think that Bell (telephone) was broken up. I was a kid so not sure when. They were a corner store compared to Amazon. The corporations largely run the government now...pay for the elections, lobby for laws they need. I guess it's only fitting they're able to do whatever they want. What a mess.

My Most Productive Baits ~ 2020 Edition
Stick worms, T or Split-Shot rigged. Wacky too. First bass of the year was on a chatterbait (first chatterbait fish for me). After that it was all worms I think (first time catching with a worm). Yum Dingers and a few BPS Stik-Os. Green pumpkin, green pumpkin and white, june bug with black flakes. Fished a creek most of the time which is why I used them.

You Are Hung In A Tree? Pull Up To The Bank And Get It Or No?
I will try hard to get a lure back. How hard I try depends on the following: Yes = -1 point No = +1 point. - am I catching fish? - do I have other lures like it? - do I want to let this lure beat me? - is it a cheaper lure? - will I look stupid trying to get it? - will it be dangerous? - will it be not dangerous? * The last two questions cancel each other out because danger is not a consideration! The higher the score the more likely I am to retrieve it. Rocks work for above-water lure retrieval! Sometimes it's a matter of principle, not just the $4 bait..... And this was only a "+1" on the Lure Retrieval Formula above - am I catching fish? No - do I have other lures like it? No - do I want to let this lure beat me? No - is it a cheaper lure? Yes - will I look stupid trying to get it? Yes - will it be dangerous? No - will it be not dangerous? Yes +1

Only One Day To Fish - Where Would You Go?
No, you are probably correct. I went to that Almaden Lake off Coleman Road. I didn't expect to catch anything, just got a line wet for a few hours, plus you never know. Random: I saw a hot woman jogging with her dog that day. She stopped near me as I was tying a bait - she hocked a loud gross loogie then did a good ol' one-handed farmers blow, then took off running again. I was in looooove! I've been there once. Caught a couple stripes as the sun went down. March 1, 2019. You can walk all the way around it I believe.

Anyone still venturing into the Delta?
I wanna try the Delta with my yak but I haven't wanted to go there alone. Is this a club or a group of friends? I'm in San Jose, my Dad lives on Lake Tulloch

BPS buys SW.
BPS and Cabelas will be selling their branded items at SW. I read it a few minutes ago. Good thing we don't allow monopolies in this country

Winter boredom kicking in now
Heck ya! It's almost January, which is close to February, so it's practically February now really. And February only has 28 days next year! March is right around the corner. I'm working on a bed for my minivan so I can do some overnighters for trout this winter too. Tackle - I could use some terminal, but I stocked up on baits. I have a whole box of cranks, some 2 or three the same. Of course I threw a crank only once this season as a result LOL. <and the Bait Monkey grins, slowly turns and walks away>
