  1. I bought a Fenwick Lunker Stik for cranking purposes like it so far !
  2. 7'6" HF ? I read mixed reviews on it regarding frogs but it might be for the older HMX gen though. Read they had too Much give in their tip. How is yours ?
  3. I would not recommend the 7'1" Mojo for light stuff. It is quite stout for a medium. My do it all spinning Rod was for a while a Fenwick HMG 7' MF for a while. The HMX isnt bad either and a little cheaper.
  4. As long as he's not Canadian... I wanted to order the Speed Demon Pro Frog Rod and have it shipped to Canada, to no luck...
  5. I now frog with a Shimano SLX 7'2" h/f but they also have a 7'5" heavy fast. I just try to keep my rods under 7'3" as its the longest my Jeep Liberty ceiling Rod rack can take !
  6. On the cheaper alternative: Shimano SLX 7'2" H/F Quantum Team KVD 6'10" H/F
  7. Fenwick Elite Tech bass 6'9" Med/mod-fast Fenwick Lunkerstik 7' Medium/Mod-fast These fits both needs and budget !
  8. Exactly my thoughts. As for the Rod+reel, I'd Say dont rule out Fenwick HMX and HMG. For the reel I'd order a KK Assassin.
  9. Luckily my fastest one is a 8.1:1, guess Im no more than a marketing victim ?
  10. Tuf-Line Yellow does fade a bit but not messy.
  11. I use Pflueger President size 20 on a Ralala Classic Trout light and President XT size 25 on a Fenwick HMX Light. I also use an older Sedona size 750 on a Fenwick Eagle. That are my actual setups for trout fishing. A size 1000 would do also
  12. I did modify a similar yak for my stepdaughter. Flushmounts are your best option. Pad eyes arent a luxury and a Pro trick is to use a pad eye inside as a washer, 2 holes, 2 padeyes I also added 3D printed tracks so she can use Scotty Rod holders. She can carry 2 rods and a net. 1 rod in a flushmount, 1 in the Holder or her hands and the net in the other flushmount. You might add a 3rd flushmount behind another one if you have space to do it. Dont invest too Much in it as it Will get you addicted and Will likely end up as a guest boat
  13. That was my thought as well. I'd go with a 2500 with 6ish ratio. A smaller, lighter reel will be less tiring for her as well!
  14. Or keep it for deep divers in a future setup
  15. I own a jar, I was wondering about EVA/cork hybrid (like HMG's handle)?
  16. That makes sense ? Also, if you have an hard time running the line through the hook eye, its a good sign ! ?
  17. 15# braid with 8 to 12# fluoro leader here for nedrig and dropshot.
  18. I just replaced my Quantum Team KVD 6'10" HF for a Shimano SLX 7'2" HF. We'll see if that 4" of lenght will actually make that much of a difference
  19. This was not asked to me but I will also update. I was frogging with a Quantum Team KVD 6'10" HF rod last season so I expect a nice upgrade !
  20. I should receive my SLXC72H Tuesday. Will first pair it with a KK Royale Legend Elite 8ish:1 and plan on using that as a frog rod. Can give some feedback about it after receiving but I won't fish it IRL till mid May
  21. Should Receive it Tuesday so I cant tell. I won't be able to fish it before a month or so. Still 3ft of snow in my backyard.
  22. I bought a Fenwick Lunkerstik which fits your budget. I like mine a lot. The MH should Do the trick...
  23. Fish and ride what you can afford ! That being said brand war is pretty common on almost everything, sadly
