Tying the Palomar-Can you do this?
Thank you. Noticed you're in Wabash County, Indiana. Born, raised and live in California; but went to college at Wabash College in Crawfordsville.

Tying the Palomar-Can you do this?
After making the overhand knot with the doubled line can you cinch this down before you pass the hook through the loop?It seems that this would make the tying simpler. Would this compromise the strength of the knot?

Handheld GPS use for back seater
Are you simply dropping and labeling pins in Google Maps? Does this use a lot of data?

Handheld GPS use for back seater
I tend to agree with both of you. Thinking back, most of the members had some idea of other members favorite water. I remember asking a guy on a two day club tournament, who I fished with on the first day, if I could could suggest that spot to my second day boater. He said OK, just let him have a crack at it first. I thought that was cool and it avoided friction.

Handheld GPS use for back seater
Would like your thoughts on the ethics of a back seater using a handheld GPS to help log catches. Years ago when I fished with a local club I would try to figure out where we were on the water when I was catching fish, then when I got home I would try to find those spots on a lake map and mark it. I would also fill out a paper log and keep them in a binder. I was never sure if the spot on the map was really accurate. Some of those lakes were very large and I didn't fish them all that often. So I had the idea of getting a GPS and marking my catches with a waypoint. I posed this idea to members of my club and also online and the majority of the answers were in the negative. The main reason being that they worked too hard to find these spots and didn't want them given up, which on the whole I tend to agree with. I couldn't get them to understand that I was going to be logging catches and not stealing their spots. Personally I would never give up a spot without asking the person first. any thoughts would be appreciated.

Give them something different
I've seen this statement many, many times. It got me to thinking, a bad thing according to my wife, about what it actually means? This phrase is usually, but not always, associated with rigs like: D/S, Mojo, Ned, Neko, Wacky etc., finesse stuff for finicky bass. Most of these techniques have been around for decades, as well as the gamut of plastics associated with them in a multitude of colors. The bass across the country have to have seen these presentations thousand upon thousands of times, if not more, in all the colors available. I know I may be giving too much credit to the bass, but is still begs the question: What's different? Thanks....Joe

Knot Tying-Braid to Flouro/Mono
I've been practicing several knots for this, blood, uni to uni, albright etc. I've watched many videos and it is amazing how the lines stay put during the tying process! The guy/gal can let go of the knot with no problem, then resume tying. In reality, for me anyway, the knot unravels and I have to star again and agin and again! The braid will generally stay put for me, but the flour/mono is another story, it will unravel in a heart beat! What am I doing wrong? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks....Joe

Worm Binder Replacement Pages
Thanks for the offer, but I'll wait on that for now.

Worm Binder Replacement Pages
Thanks Short Fish! Nothing about space between grommets, I'll ask BPS.

Worm Binder Replacement Pages
I have a couple of old Cabelas worm binders. The pages are about 8 1/2" L x 8" W. The grommets are 4" on center. I would like to get more but they are not available and other brands don't match the size. I saw that BPS has Angler Storage Bags that match the width, but are 12" L with no grommets. I had a thought of cutting them down to the proper length and some how sealing the cut and add my own grommets. Have anyone of you had experience with these bags and done the modifications I mentioned? Are they made out a heavy enough plastic to handle the grommet and can they be sealed at the cut line?

Terminal Tackle-Weights and Jig heads? How many sizes?
thanks all!

Terminal Tackle-Weights and Jig heads? How many sizes?
Wow Kicker, that's a 1/16 difference between 1/8 and 3/16, and between 3/16 and 1/4. I see your logic though. But at this point my main concern is feeling the bottom. Hits on the fall i'll have to learn by experience.

Terminal Tackle-Weights and Jig heads? How many sizes?
Hoping for some help on how many different styles and weights I can get by with? I now have a 3600 box that contains: Bullet weights in 3/16, 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2. Do I need all these? Can I get rid of the 3/16 and get by with the 1/4? Football and Arkie heads in 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, and 3/4. Can get rid of the 3/8? P (Round), Dart, and Shaky heads in 3/16 and 1/4. Can I get by with 1/4, eliminate the 3/16 and add a weight in it's place? D/S in 1/4 and 3/8. Would I need anything heavier? I also carry hooks, beads, sinker stops, and some swivels in this box. Any help/advise would be appreciated! Thanks....Joe

Brand of Soft Plastics.
I'm looking into Strike King and am considering keeping some of my old GYCB and Roboworm worms. I'm in the west, California, where finesse is the predominant style. Except for places like the Delta and Clear Lake. The bass club I fished in years ago and considering rejoining fishes a lot of clear water lakes, Berryessa, New Melones, Pardee, Tulloch, McClure, to name a few. I spoke with a member and he said to keep it simple. Green, Browns, and Shad colors. So that's where I'm going to start. For Greens, Green Pumpkin and Watermelon. For Shad, Translucent, Smoke or White. For Brown, the only real Brown I have is PB&J which is not a truly brown worm. I've looked at Cinnamon and Oxblood, but depending on the brand these don't seem to be truly brown, they tend to look red. I would add Black, June Bug, and something like Morning Dawn as well. Any comments would be appreciated!

Brand of Soft Plastics.
Thanks everyone! Not exactly new to it, but been away for a while. Gunthos's reply seems to zero in on what I want to do as I restart. Keep my selection simple and since I will be fishing from the back I won't have tons of stuff, with no where to put it. In the past I'd have Zoom paddle tails, Yamamoto kut tails, Iovinos, Robos in 6" worms, maybe others as well and that was just one color family! Not much space to add different colors. With one brand I could bring several colors, as I relearn I'll be able to judge whether I should swap out one brand for another and not sink the boat. Does this make sense?

Spinnerbait Skirts
Okay, so what skirts are available that are fairly simple to use that can be used on multiple brands. I have mostly Terminators, but do have several other brands. Thanks
-
Spinnerbait Skirts
I was going through all of my old spinnerbaits. Most of the skirts look like they've had a bad hair day! My question is can you use Terminator Quick Skirts on brands other than Terminator?

Brand of Soft Plastics.
Wow, thanks everyone! A lot of food for thought.

Brand of Soft Plastics.
Is it feasible to go with one brand of soft plastics for all your needs, ie: Zoom, Strike King, Roboworm, Iovino, etc. Do any of you guys do this? Will it work? Thanks....Joe

All Around Fishing Line
Thank you! I think I'll do the KISS principle and start with Yo-zuri Hybrid and McCoy Mean Green. Since they are fairly inexpensive lines I can fill my spools with them and worry about expanding my line selection later.

All Around Fishing Line
Thank you all! I would use both spinning and casting. I have considered the braid option, but isn't it pretty expensive? I've seen posts about using old mono as backing to make it more affordable. Unfortunately all the mono I had from years ago was pretty deteriorated so I tossed it. I do have some old flouro that seems in good shape, will this fill the bill for backing? Also what about the visibility of braided lines? haven't looked into them much. Thanks....Joe

All Around Fishing Line
Hi Everyone, I am trying to get back into bass fishing after a long hiatus. I posted a question about getting my neglected reels back in shape and the answers/links you provided were very helpful! They did the job! So, on to fishing line. I've looked a many past posts on this topic and the options are mind boggling (application, technique, lure selection, visibility, preference, etc.). I remember all the times I tried to fill my reels with a line that would meet a certain need. I was buying line that I next to never used! So now that I'm trying to get back into it, I want to get line that would kind of span all sorts of different applications, at least until I can get experienced enough to be able to purchase/put certain lines on that would best serve an application. This brings me to the meat of my question. I was looking at Yo-zuri Hybrid. It seems to fit the bill of what I'm looking for no matter what lure I had tied on. Is this the right choice? Thanks....Joe
