  1. I use 6lb trilene xl. I’ve also used 10-15lb braid but prefer mono.
  2. Mine are usually 3-4’ I just eyeball it.
  3. My Dobyns furys are the same way. It’s normal wear and tear imo
  4. How do you guys rig these for trout under float? I am fishing small ponds and lakes for stocked browns and rainbows 9-14”. Float with split shot then hook? Or float with a small jighead below it?
  5. Same thing here in Southeast NY
  6. I either use 50 for frogging and punching or 15 on my spinning reel...yes I keep it that simple
  7. Yes i Use it for traps and shallow cranks especially around grass and cover
  8. None. Berkley big game on my casting reels. Cheap strong and effective. I change it often
  9. Tungsten! You’ll never go back to lead. Super compact and sensitive. I fish me pegged and unpegged never had an issue with line fray.I like the vmc ones
  10. I figured it out when you take the spool off you are supposed to add the clear/white washer given in the pack right above the red one
  11. I recently bought a daiwa bg 3000 for light saltwater fishing and having some issues with loading the extra spool washers to adjust line lay. With my Shimanos I just added the washers directly to the shaft and put the spool back on, not the case with the daiwa. If I put the washer on directly below the spool the spool does not sit properly. I know Daiwas are designed to have a reverse taper line lay (line loaded more towards top of spool) but it seems a bit excessive thanks
  12. Dobyns fury 795 swimbait rod is what I use for wakebaits and magnum top waters. Generally the baits I throw on this rod are 2-3oz.
  13. Berkeley big game $8 a spool. I use 20lb for my swimbaitS
  14. Spawn is the toughest conditions? Not for me. Nov-March for me here in NY. I used to do real good in March, last few years not so much. I guess it has something to do with the unseasonably cold and snowy/wet march weather we’ve had the last few years.
  15. Check guides for cracks and nicks. If the guides are fine I would up your line size to 10-12lb and fish mono.
  16. Exactly. Daiwa magforce braking system is a lot less forgiving
  17. Depends on the reel. if I do that with my shimano I backlash every time. I Adjust accordingly by bait, line type/size and wind; not a sound
  18. When I used one the 7’ MH was a good spinnerbait rod. And the 6’6” M was a good squarebill rod.
  19. Great weightless senko rod especially around grass
  20. That rod is too soft for frogs IMO
  21. Are you making sure the line is coming off the filler spool counter clockwise?
