Ordered a Jerkbait Special today. Now which reel to put on it...maybe SV103P or SS SV103SH.

Isn't it amazing though how we have changed to think that faster and faster is always better and better. Back about 15-20 years ago, a 6.3:1 was a bottom presentation fast as lightning ratio. The baits didn't change but we seem to now think that we need a 12:1 to fish a jig anymore.

I was fishing my TD-Z 103H Type R+ yesterday with jigs and it was handling them just fine. And it also threw spinnerbaits perfectly. I think there is a lot of hype in "speed" of a reel rather than IPT.

TD-Z reels in 6.3:1 might be the best thing going...:) But then again, the SV103H (6.3) and XS (7.9) have all bases covered... Best wishes on the water.

Cara's were/are made in the USA. The Expert line is now an overseas model unlike the older Expert series. I don't think Falcon now will have a USA made rod if the Cara gets discontinued.

It's a Doyo so it's actually a Lew's, BPS, Cabela's, Abu Garcia, Pflueger, Daiwa, etc. They all come from the same base models. The manufacturers just get to add their slight specs to match their demand. That's why I like in house made Daiwa and Shimano reels.

Don't think it allows on here for the typing of the three letters in the name.

This was a common issue with many of the Sierra rods. Don't know why since its the same Fuji they use on all their rods.

Agreed! I had an SM3600C that was on an old made in the USA All Star rod that was dynamite back in the 90s!

Get the Tatula LT 3000 in the shallower spool size of the two 3000s. PERFECT reel for that rod.

I was able to acquire a few of these reels. Two BB1N and two BB1NG that were made by Ryobi. These were before Browning and Quantum owned them...right after Lew Childre pulled production from Shimano to Ryobi in Japan. They do not have the disengaging button on top and are in pretty decent shape. I am sure they could use a thorough cleaning but for the most part are solid. And they cast GREAT! I know David Fritts swore by these reels for many, many years. Any idea if I sold a few of them (don't need all four) what a reasonable and fair asking price would be and if anyone would be interested, just send me a message and I can get pictures to your email address. Is the "Shimano" emblem supposed to be sitting upright when fully locked on the turnkey part of the palming side plate? If it is upside down when fully closed, how easy is it fix? Could it have just been installed upside down from the factory? Is it can easy fix to correct? Thanks for any/all help and best wishes on the water!

Not sure. Don put it on the reel when he was making it. He asked me if I like it and I said yep so he included it. It's a nice reel.
