BPS Fishing Classic Info?

Featured Replies

I know the Spring Fishing Classic will start on Feb 15th (just 19 days away) but what I'm semi-anxiously awaiting is the accompanying ad - I check their 2019 Fishing Classic page almost daily and it always says "Details Coming Soon".

Does anyone know (approximately) when the information on the Fishing Classic is released? This is just my second year fishing and last year I didn't really even know what I was looking for in terms of gear. This year I feel substantially more prepared in terms of what I'm looking for and my budget ... I'd like to put a purchasing plan together - only problem is I don't know whats going to be on sale or for how much.

  • What good is a sale when nothing is in stock in the stores? Since BPS bought Cabela's neither store in Conn. Has any stock. It really sucks.

  • pretty sure the leaked ad i saw said BPS and Cabelas on it.  eventually they are just going to be the same store inside.  eventually cabelas will probably just become a BPS house brand like Red Head

  • usually they have a ton of stock of the PQ's during the classic.  here's some alternative combos for around the same price:   PQ+lightning rod $80 PQ+fish eagle rod $110 fish eagle

If I remember right they usually release the info about a week to ten days before it starts.

Love the classic sales - I might need a rod or reel that I have something to trade with :)

Talked to a buddy of mine that works there. He told me tonight about a few of the crazy sales they are having.

That's good news, today was payday....

My favorite is the trade in program. I have, over the years, been able to upgrade equipment on the trade in allowance.  They do not care how cheap your trade in rod or reel is as long as it is not broken.  The trade in stuff goes to youth fishing programs. I believe the trade in allowance amounts are available about a week before the sale starts.  I know it is in the sale flyers they publish a week or so in advance.

What kind of value do you get for trading in a rod?

Nevermind.  I see it

Just reviewed the spring  classic sales - It's the same/similar every year. Surprised that the Combo isnt included this year. Guess BPS Sticko,Sufix 832 Braid & Berkley X9 Braid line is the only items I "want".

I think I will skip this year and use everything that I have but I live like 12 miles from BASS PRO :)

Thank you for posting link, I agree looks almost the same. I am picking up some line thats on sale. I am hoping they have the new St. Croix Yak rod, want to check it out.

Still can’t find the flyer sale prices for any of the stores, tried clicking on link provided but no flyer.

Click on the link, select your store (make sure it is a BPS, not a Cabela's) and then the link will pop up under it.

Here is a link to BPS in Concord. NC - although I am not sure it will work:https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/online-catalogs?catalogCode=BassPro/SFC_19_07_tab

Bass Pro seems to be pushing more of there brand then anyone else's.

It's always a crap shoot to get the gear they have listed in the sale.  Both BPS and Cabela's.  I'll be representing Quantum, Gamakatsu, Live Target, Bullet Weights, Yamamoto, Gator Guards and a few other brands at Cabela's this spring and it sucks when there's a sale on them and the stores don't have any stock.  "Usually" they will put what they refer to as a "door buster" product on sale (sonar or other bigger ticket item) to get you in the door and then hope you continue shopping for other things.  Also keep in mind that BPS stocks their stores by sales volume.  If the store closest to you is a big volume seller, they will have more of a selection than other stores.  There is a pecking order.

Hey Toxic, can trade ins be made at Cabelas also?

Any news if Cabelas is having a similar sale?

Cabelas used to have a spring sale in mid to late March. I don't know what they will do now that Bass Pro owns Cabelas.

Yes, Cabela's is having a Spring Sale just like BPS both run from 02/15- 03/05 but I do not think they do the reel trade in promotion.  I can let you know as soon as I get in the store,  I am scheduled for the 16th of this month.

Made me go look and I found this.....Looks like they will be doing the trade in as well.

So I read through the flyer...a few decent yet far from great sales on lures/lines, but the vast majority of rods and reels are just standard price without trade-in...Oh well, at least my wallet will be happy.

Not very good if you ask me. I did the Carbonlite 2.0 combo for 119.99 last year and loved it - was gonna buy 1 or 2 more this year, so maybe that is slanting my view, but it seems like the worst SFC in recent memory.

I was looking forward to that combo big time. I wasn't casting baitcasters at that time last year so I passed on it. I passed on a couple of purchases in the Fall in lieu of this sale. Didn't realize what a deal that combo was nor did I know it wouldn't come around again (or something comparable).

My thoughts exactly. Even w/o the carbonlite combo I was hoping for some otherwise terrific deals. It's really all about the trade-in ... the exception being that PQ reel on the front page. No guarantee my store will even have that.
