  1. I have the 7' M/MH AGS Ehrler rod that I may pair up with a Steez LTD Limited 105. Should be an awesome finesse/weightless setup.
  2. Just got back from a great trip to the 1000 Islands and while there I was using my brand new Daiwa Luvias 3012H spinning reel on a St. Croix Legend Xtreme 7' MF spinning rod. Yesterday morning, I noticed that the stem of the reel near the reel seat was scuffed with some paint loss right along where I split the reel with my fingers to hold both it and the rod. I have my wedding ring on and its smooth with tapered edges but could this have caused the loss of paint? I don't believe any of my other reels have this wear (but I could be wrong I would have to look). Would it be the wedding ring or just weaker paint since I have been married for quite some time and clean/baby my gear and never have noticed this type of wear. Not that it really matters since the reel is really awesome but just thought I would ask if this has happened to anyone else. Thanks!
  3. 200 size I guess from what I also read. Tackle Tour has some more info and some pictures.
  4. I have a few of the Berkley baits and the Dredger in 10.5 and 14.5 have been excellent. I also have the smaller square bill in I think 5.5 and that is also a great bait. Plus the Digger 8.5 in Vintage craw is awesome. Great line of baits!
  5. I am sure the Curado will get an overhaul but the Chronarch line is special to me. I always felt it should continue with the aluminum and this might be the opportunity for it to become another classic like the SF and the D.
  6. Looks like they are on their way for ICAST 2017! There are a few pictures of the Chronarch G online but haven't seen the new Sustain yet. Hopefully they are nice reels! Some of the folks on TT might have more info but I was just passing it along. Thanks and best wishes on the water!
  7. Any spots worth noting to try out with the water as is? Thanks!
  8. They are not going out of business completely. SOME stores will close but most (from what an employee said) will stay open. The owner wanted to get the buildings at a much lower lease price so he basically threatened closure. The stores will be called Gander Outdoors and will feature hunting, fishing, camping, and ATV's...no footwear/clothing. http://www.gandermountain.com You can design the new logo I guess... The prices on the "closeout" seemed higher than the prices a month or so before they discounted any items.
  9. Sweet...where did you get one for $340. Can you PM me? Thanks!
  10. We have a trip planned for June 20-23 to the 1000 Islands and are staying in Lake of the Isles closer to the DeWolf Point State Park launch. I have not been fishing in the 1000 Islands since 2006 and have not visited the area since 2008. So I assume quite a bit has changed. The times I did fish it (2001, 2006) we had a lot of success in Lake of the Isles, near Kring Point and Goose Bay, as well as Chippewa Bay. This time, I think a lot of our focus will be closer to Clayton and adjacent to where we are staying with possibly launching at Eel Bay. With the water levels being quite high and flooding out of launches (and islands/rocks being submerged), does anyone have any tips as to where we should focus our fishing. My buddy has a Humminbird Helix and we have been sort of studying the structure/layout of the river and such using the Navionics but any personal experience would be helpful. Thanks and hopefully we get into some nice bass. My buddy and I had a lengthy conversation with Hank Parker at an Outdoors Show back in February and he said nothing but great things about how the river has evolved since the last time I have fished it. He gave us some great pointers and he is a real down to earth guy and it was really an honor to get to talk to him. He said 2-3 pound average fish have been replaced by fish in the 3, 4, and 5 pound range being common. I hope he's right! Thanks!
  11. There are a lot of options in NEPA. I happen to have access to a few private lakes that are loaded with bass and they are pretty well "policed" by the locals so if they don't know you or who gave you permission, you are quickly called out. Very rarely do I fish outside of these three or four lakes since they fish so well, but public lakes/rivers to check out would be: Prompton Promised Land Fairview White Deer Lackawanna State Park Belmont Lake Henry Kizer's Gouldsboro Tobyhanna Susquehanna River Delaware River If you want bass numbers, the river(s) are your best options. I fish the Susky often and there are days were 50+ fish are common. Check out the river up near Tunkhannock and Meshoppen.
  12. I got my Shock for $9! They are nice rods!
  13. Sure thing! A quality round reel on there would make it look even more "retro." If I owned the rod, I might fish my custom Iovino 4600C (green with silver/gold accents and pearl knobs). In honesty though, I bet that rod would look awesome with a CVZ/Luna 103 or 203 and I would more likely fish that. But get the cork knobs, they would seal the deal! Or you could go totally crazy and order a Monoblock or Lin in any one of the varieties! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Megabass-Yuki-Ito-MONOBLOCK-TOPAZ-L-Limited-Edition-LH-Baitcasting-Reel-/371923444801?hash=item56985d6441 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Megabass-LIN-10C-RH-Baitcasting-Reel/262969861922?_trksid=p2047675.c100012.m1985&_trkparms=aid%3D777003%26algo%3DDISCL.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D40130%26meid%3Db4c0007e372346f186d240b26d8dd5ba%26pid%3D100012%26rk%3D9%26rkt%3D12%26sd%3D371923444801
  14. Check eBay and try and find yourself one of the varieties of the Daiwa Millionaire CV-Z or CV-X 103. That would be an awesome reel for that rod. Or get a Calcutta TE or Conquest.
  15. Has anyone used the following colors: MB Sexy Stream SB OB Shad HT Kanehira How do they compare? Thanks!
  16. My dad for most of his fishing career used 12lb. Berkley Trilene XL on his baitcasting gear and 6-8lb. XL on his spinning gear. And he was an excellent fisherman. I find that I use a mix of mono and braid just because I think it is something to try and improve my skills with. I also use flouro occasionally but seem to always find myself returning to mono for most things. Braid for frogs, heavy cover, but mono and flouro for everything else.
  17. Yes mine is nice too...I was just saying I saw some like I had mentioned with very minuscule (and I mean really really small inconsistencies) marks but I am super OCD with getting perfect reels from the factory. I am also really freakishly protective of keeping my gear looking new!
  18. The paint on them is a reflective cool color but I am sure it is prone to starching easily. In fact, I have seen many of the 105 LTD reels that have slight factory bubbling/pinpoint marks on the reel as it must be part of the coating process. Do any of yours have any of these marks? They are not scratches but rather just a little dust or something that must have been on the reel surface when the paint coating was applied.
  19. I bought one on TW with the BM Classic sale. They are beautiful light reels for lighter styled baits. They can be had on some JDM sites that still have a few. I bet a TW limited version will be coming out shortly since the new model Steez has been out for about a year.
  20. Nice looking setups. I have a few Iovino reels that would look nice on those rods!
  21. 6's are still all around...7's are too but 8's and 9's are getting specific to bottom and frog use!
  22. The Revros does not have an air-bail. I have held both and the RG does but the Revros does not.
  23. It treats me just fine...
