  1. What state are you in?
  2. Those are some big fish! Will a couple of my PB dinks give that same effect?
  3. I honestly don't understand how I didn't notice this was a swing jig head so many rigs look the same but are different at the same time.
  4. Has anybody heard about this rig? I've seen it in many European youtubers videos, it looks pretty good.
  5. @PNW Persistence Welcome to Bass Resource! I also started off with a 6'6" Medium Ugly Stick! First off I would recommend you change the line to some 10lb Spiderwire Stealth braid in Moss Green, remember to use a leader which is tying the main line (braid) to the leader (mono or floro). I would also recommend a 6'6" Med Light or Light spinning rod paired with some 6lb-4lb mono or fluro for some trout and a size 1000 reel. I am just starting to use baitcasters after 3 years fishing, some are quite expensive. I would go with a 7' Med Hvy or Hvy spinning rod with a 4000 size reel with 20lb or 30lb braid to start fishing texas rigs, jigs, small swimbaits, etc... Hopefully this info helps!

  7. Hey BR, As some of you have seen I made a topic a couple days ago about a Budget swimbait combo I was hoping to get for my birthday. I decided to go with a really budget rod and reel since money has been tight here. A couple hours later I get a message asking me if I was in a fan of round reels, I said yes since I have one that I got on sale, I talked about how I use it for catfishing and Alabama rigs. He talked about the Shimano Cardiff 300a and said to let him know if he was interested. I was thinking that he was trying to sell me one, I said I couldn't really spend money right now because my mom might be needing to file for unemployment, and my parents are also divorced. He said "Promise me you'll use it and aren't planning on selling it" I got a bit suspicious. In responded saying how there is no point in owning a $100 swimbait and keeping it for display. He asked me for my name and address, I gave it to him since I might buy it later. A couple minuets later I get a message saying "Happy birthday" I was shocked, I honestly couldn't believe it. I thank him many times, I asked how I could repay him for this amazing gift. He replies I will never forget this, thank you so much, Martin Sierra
  8. ? I hope I didn't make such a big mistake...
  9. So I have decided to go with a really budget rod and reel... Bass Pro Shops Graphite Series Casting Rod 7'6" Heavy lures up to 2 oz $34.99 KastKing Spartacus Baitcasting Reel 18 lb Max Drag 11+1 Bearings 6.3:1 GR Silver $33.99 Spiderwire Stealth Braid Moss Green 50 lb $5.99 Total: $75 This is going to be a true budget combo. I'll use a leader when throwing glidebaits. Should I go up to 65lb braid? I'm thinking of using it for frogs + punching. My dad convinced me to go budget right now until I learn to use swimbaits. Also im right handed but I hold the spool on my right hand when I cast... Do I go left handed reel or right handed? (BPS is having a sale on line + baits) Any help is greatly appreciated!
  10. Did it look like this?
  11. I got 3 spools of 10lb Super Slick 8 V2 for only $5 each. I haven't tried it out yet...
  12. Hey BR, What have you guys been doing during this Quarantine? (These number ain't looking good ?) https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/
  13. I'm thinking of just using single hook swimbaits with maybe a stinger hook at the end. Would zero strach from the braid help me with this? Plus, wont the rod load up? If I do use a leader what lb test should it be for 1-3oz?
  14. Thanks for all the rod and reel recommendations! What would be the main disadvantages to using straight braid? I'm going to be fishing from the bank so I don't really want to use any fluro or mono.... Would the fish relly see the braid since I fish primarily dirt water? I'm also relly worried about throwing expensive baits... I'm thinking of throwing between 1-3oz swimbaits.
  15. Hello BR, I've been trapped inside for over two weeks now wishing I could go fishing but, since I am still 14 and my parents don't want me to leave home under any circumstance I am stuck here. I have been spending my time on Amazon looking at fishing rods and lures, that are wayyyy to expensive for me to buy. I've seen multiple budget rods and reel by this company called KastKing, I have see there products on YouTube and they seem to be some great budget rods and reels. Has anybody had good experience with this company? I've been wanting to buy a KastKing Royale Select Fishing Rod, Casting Rod 7ft 6in-Extra Heavy - Fast-1pc which is only $60 with a coupon, paired with a KastKing Royale Legend II Baitcasting Reel, Gear Ratio 7.2:1, Left Handed Fishing Reel ($40). And some (a bit excessive) 80lb P-Line TCB Braid, which I got on sale for only $5!! For big swimbaits and hopefully pike and muskie. I've also been looking at the ABU GARCIA® MAXTORO COMBO 7'6" Heavy. For only $210 which hopefully I will get for my birthday in two months. (I also have been thinking of buying a ton of lures from Ali-Express) Has anybody tried any of these Rods & Reels? Does anybody have a recommendation for a Budget Combo? Any help is greatly appreciated, Martin Sierra
  16. The Lunker Hunt 7inch Fin-s Fish in Ice Shad was a killer for me last year for big bass and pike. I recommend using a heavy leader like 50lb if there is pike in your lake. I rig it on a 7/0 Berkley Fusion 19 Swimbait Hook Weightless. I would also recommend a stinger hook if they are swiping at it.
  17. Has anybody fished the Nashua River yet, and caught fish this season? I fish almost everyday during summer in the Nashua River since is the closest place to my house. I normally catch tons of small smallmouth, there is also perch, pickerel, bluegill, largemouth and rock bass. I fished a couple weeks ago when there was a a couple of warm days and had ZERO bites, I didn't even see any fish. I tried a drop shot, finesse swimbait, ned rig, etc... Even tried the jerk bait which is a killer in the late days of summer. I normally fish near were the main street brige is. So has anybody had any luck in the Nashua River this season?? Any help is greatly appreciated, Martin Sierra
  18. I dont know how but I've gotten everything I have ordered, the first thing was 2lb lure bag which I got, 2lbs of soft plastics, lure box then I ordered a 50pc senkos which came demented so they sent me another 50 for free. I did need to email them a couple times to make sure everything was on it's way. Shipping does take a while thought. I dont know how I have gotten everything...
  19. @ROCK Welcome to Bass Resource!
  20. I've only bought circle hooks for saltwater after I was informed at the NE Fishing Expo about the problem. I'll try and see if I get better luck with live bait is the lures don't work sometimes. Wasn't planning on keeping any but that's good to know. There's also a couple months till I can even try to go stripper fishin ? Thanks for help!
  21. Thanks for the help! Im trying to use the shortest leader I can, right now I have a 3 foot leader, im going to change to a swivel right now and see how it goes. I ordered some 2oz jig heads and 1/2oz jig heads. Could you please tell me if think the black 1/2oz one could work for some schoolies? Im going to order 1oz if they do. Could this 2oz jig head and 5in swimbait be good for some larger stripper?
  22. Hey BR, I'm trying to get into stripper fishing (from shore) and I was wondering if I have the right gear. I'm thinking of using a Med/Hvy 7'6 Rod rated for lures up to 3oz, paired with a 5000 size spinning reel with 40lb braid to a 50lb mono leader for bigger jerkbaits, poppers and probably spoons. I'm also going to use a 7'6 Med/Hvy Rod rated for lures up to 1oz, paired with a 4000 size reel with 20lb braid to 30lb mono for jerkbaits. Would these combos work for what I am going to be using them for? Is a braid to leader know or swivel better? Any tips for fishing from a jetty? Any lure recommendations? Any help is greatly appreciated, Martin Sierra
