  1. I use 3/16" aluminum rivets to mount anything to my kayaks. I have to use longer handles on my rivet tool but they hold.
  2. None on a spinnerbait and the thin straight twin tails on a chatterbait.
  3. The weather finally agreed with me, above 55 with little wind, so I went fishing in the afternoon. Caught 3, one dink and a couple 15 to 16" Alabama bass. A good one came unbuttoned. All on T/R worms in 5-15' near brush piles. Water temp was 50*, down 5* from the last time I fished. There's a window early next week where I'll try it again.
  4. Went there to get our grandson baptised 18 years ago and went tarpon fishing near the airport. We went to the south end of the island and never saw a freshwater lake.
  5. Looks like you're feeding the whole neighborhood.
  6. A 35mm film can with alcohol. I used to have an ultrasonic cleaner for my motorcycle and chainsaw chains and that worked good for bearings.
  7. I usually break a couple each year usually by backing the boat up in the dock with a rod hanging outside the boat. I also lose an occasional one by kicking it overboard.
  8. Someone a while back asked what is a big Alabama Bass and where I fish a 2.5 lb and up is a good fish. I catch enough 3 and up to keep me happy. My largest is a 4-12 on a topwater.
  9. For grease I mix Corrosion X and grease to the consistency I like for the gears. Works for me.
  10. Basspro Excel. Limp, not too thick and inexpensive.
  11. I use those for bream but put 3/4" of green pumkin worm on the hook. 1/32 oz If you want the kids to catch fish my first recommendation is sure fire.
  12. Bought a $60 blank from NFC for one of the rods I've broken this year. List is $250 but with all the sales no one ever pays full price.
  13. Give me a PM with your email and I'll send you Google Earth pictures of the places I wrote about.
  14. There's a walking trail just to the W of the 41 bridge that has access to a canal with places to throw a bait or lure. Throw a spook or swimbait. Good luck and report. I used to wade at the river end of that canal and caught trout, redfish, snook and flounder all with a swimbait but I don't know if I'd do it at night.
  15. Put a red worm on a hook about a foot under a bobber with a small split shot near the hook.
  16. To me anything under 60 is cold, what do others think?
  17. The advantages are 1 retired and can fish when I want 2 live where I have a boat in the water 3 go to FL during the winter Disadvantages are 1 age and stamina 2 can't take cold weather
  18. There's one down the cove from me with 2 400hp engines to get to the spot first.
  19. Around the inshore water in Crystal River and Homosassa, FL I use 30 lb braid with a 20 lb fluorocarbon leader and throw plastic swimbaits and hard jerkbaits for trout and redfish. Water is 1-5'.
  20. My buddy called me @ noon and asked if I'd like to go fishing this afternoon and I said yes, I'll meet you @ the ramp in 1/2 hour. Most of my rods were in my boat, in the dock, so I grabbed a couple of rods with mono I had in the house. We worm fished most of the afternoon and I felt at a disadvantage with the mono worm rod. From now on I'll only use braid with a leader. I've been using braid with a leader for about the past year for worming and can feel the bite much better. We both caught several Alabama bass and he caught the biggest. It was the first time in a while I've been in a 60 mph boat, mine goes 25.
  21. Ask your dealer what is needed to block off the oil flow, buy it and mix your fuel. When my boat is on the trailer I'll put 3 gallons of gas in the tank then 8 oz of oil and keep doing it until it's full. That way it'll mix fairly well.
  22. I used to stand on the bow but getting older I have to brace myself or get to a bank with a tree to hold on to. #2 hit the bank and dig a hole.
  23. I used to fish from a 9' 32lb kayak in rivers and found an anchor the best way to land more fish. I've caught many 3 and 4lb Shoal and Alabama Bass from the kayak. Also removing the barb gets the hook in faster and easier.
  24. That's terrific, congratulations. I've been retired for a number of years and used to fish every day I could for a number of years and added them up for a couple of years with over 3000 bass a year plus stripers and others. I fished all year while you took months off, your feat is much more commendable.
