  1. How does everyone think a big bass only tournament trail would go. I have a buddy that runs his schools bass club and we are considering a big bass only trail backed by the school which would give the school a certain percentage of the entry fees. Ohio has a million traditional style trails and we are thinking something like this could be a positive change for guys
  2. After my last few experiences with daiwa rods and reels. It has just reinforced the reasons I always stick with shimano
  3. Hell vegetable oil would likely work
  4. 39.75" northern on ul and 4# mono 1/16 oz jighead thin wire hook. Use to also carp fish with UL and 4# mono. Caught a few 50+# grass carp on 6'6 m action and 8 pound co poly
  5. When I ran a 9.9 on my 16.5 foot bass boat I built a jack plate and the best height performance wise was having the cav plate even with bottom of hull
  6. Instead of cranks try fishing either a scrounger head or a wobble head. Both get the same results if not better than a crank at times
  7. This is extremely shocking to me. If I had to pick one bait and one bait only to fish all year I'm talking 12 months a year it would be a hard toss up between a fluke and a jig. Really you can fish a fluke like a jig so it would probably win. I've caught literally thousands of bass on flukes. Think senko or weightless worm when you fish one
  8. We have a lake like that local to us. We were catching giants in knee deep water in March this year mid 40 water temps. I'm not talking 1 or 2 either . Multiple giants every trip to this lake. Hell we started getting them on topwaters when water was 47° craziest **** Ive ever seen. Everyone else was fishing deep and slow not catching anything and we were catching 30+fish in a few hours of fishing. Had multiple bags over 20 pounds in a one month stretch
  9. Few lakes like that here in Ohio. Often get a bad rap but their is always a few of us that network together and figure the lakes out and keep the information within a tight-nit group. If someone gets caught loose lipping one of these lakes they get cut from any valuable info
  10. Cold water in spring time is key to this. I'm talking high 30s to 50 degree water is the trick here
  11. Chatterbait and whopper plopper. I'm way more efficient with a spinnerbait in place of a chatter and a buzzbait in place of a plopper. Did catch my 8 pound lm on a chatter but I sight fished it and fished it like a jig and not fishing it like you should so I just say a jig when people ask me what I caught it on
  12. Best part about salted baits is you have enough on your hands at end of day no need to put any on your food
  13. Many plastics greatly benefit from salt when fishing weightless. If fishing bottom contact with added weight the salt could negate the action needed by preventing the bait from having some buoyancy.
  14. Do you want a true sponsorship or to just be pro-staff. Alot of companies will let almost anyone on the pro staff. You will also be obligated to go to shows meetings etc on your dime and you will receive a discount on equipment. A sponsorship basically means you are employed by the company and the benefits will be greatly increased . This should be the end goal
  15. I'm also from N.E ohio. I will start by saying slow down a bit pick maybe 3 techniques and learn every single thing you can about them. Trying to master every technique is going to do nothing but frustrate you. These tournaments are no joke around here. No matter how good anyone thinks they are tournament fishing will humble them quickly. If you understand that, then that will allow you to learn from the tournaments. I would say a great way to learn new things would obviously be experienced fishing buddies but also signing up as a co angler for a lot of tournaments. This will expose you to every type of bass fishing as well as every type of bass angler good and bad.
  16. Salt is mostly for added weight, it's suppose to effect the buoyancy of the bait. Most baits come with salt and without
  17. They know bass guys will buy anything that they think will help them. Good thing I've got pounds of light walleye jigheads that work PERFECT for "Ned" rigs. Thin wire hooks that will bend out when snagged. And the best part is you can buy 10 for the price of a 4 pack of Ned heads
  18. I thought this for a minute as well but here in Ohio fishing in temps of over 100 sometimes is not uncommon and I think if this was an issue it would have shown itself early on. I started doing some research and it seems like this is actually a pretty common problem with these Fuego lt spinning reels. Cheaply made and over priced
  19. I'm a huge fan of the ARK Randall Tharp series "money maker" its a 7'3" med heavy fast super light sensitive and extremely well balanced. Priced at 129 and pairs excellent with a curado. Actually I like it enough I just bought and set up another one today. It's my main jig and t rig rod
  20. You can feel the reel twisting at the stem while fighting a fish. Worst I've ever felt
  21. The brown craw bandit is a very hard color to beat
  22. My beard keeps my sunburn free from cheeks down to chest but neck ears nose etc still get it. Just gotta wear sunscreen or a can hat. I hate wearing any type of mask or buff which is why I don't own any of that stuff.
  23. I agree. I went off the recommendations of enough guys using the reel and all I did was reinforce the fact on why I don't listen to anyone but myself on purchases
  24. I seen on another forum someone thinks KVD is just taking it easy to let other people feel what it's like to win. Ironically enough. This is what I do at most of our weeknight Derby's ?
