  1. Does not bother me either. What bothers me more is people leaving trash behind etc that that negative impacts on fisheries etc.
  2. He also lost two within the last hour or so of the event. It would have been a different outcome if he caught those, and perhaps kept his head down and fished like he wanted to win, and not just happy to be there!
  3. I know a few guys specifically do local Airbnb's on the lake for every event. Also, there usually is a local restaurant that caters some food for anglers after the days. I am not sure if they did it in this one or not, but I have seen it before. It is definitely not like the classic or an expo for sure as far as revenue generation. What it will do though, is show off the lake in an attempt to "lure" people to that fishery. That will increase licenses purchased and some local economy.
  4. You are absolutely right. I do agree with the fact that they should have known as anglers. I think a lot of it is saving face right? It is not a good look for Wheeler, or the MLF if he was DQd and lost AOY because of a rule that even the tournament director did not realize. I think they looked at the quickest way for damage control. Let's take the blame, the anglers will pay their fines, and we will be done with it! I do wonder though if that rule and issue will delay the return of MLF to MN? I was actually wondering, and I am still waiting for it....is other anglers from the tournament who did not use two lines coming out and saying they should be DQ'd. What a shift it would be, if Wheeler got Dq'd and JLee was crowned AOY.
  5. I am going to have to go with pads and docks. I think you can get a really good bag just fishing pads either froggin, or punchin, but it is fun either way. Skipping docks is also extremely fun with a chatterbait or wacky worm.
  6. I went to National Covers and paid 400ish for a semi custom fit for my boat. I works out really well and a lot better quality than BPS.
  7. I am not saying breaking the rules is fine. I am saying the response from MLF is fine with the circumstances they found themselves in.
  8. intense last couple of minutes. They almost got DC, but he was able to pull it off by 4oz. Good for him!
  9. I think DC is going to take it. He is hooked up as I am typing this, but it should be 7lbs or more in the lead once he has this in with 15 minutes or so to go!
  10. As much as I appreciate the rules in tournaments, and I never would knowingly break any. I do not believe these issues to be malicious or deliberate in nature. I think it is fine. I do not even mind the two rod rule in MLF because it is interesting to watch try to get two fish in without letting them touch the carpet ec.
  11. It is a Googan Baits rattling ned on a drop shot hook actually. Neal wont go away easily!
  12. I believe the only angler to catch one on a double rig was Randy Howell with the double fluke rig.
  13. I would expect them to know to be honest. That is their chosen profession, and it just happens to be governed by local laws...just like getting their licenses, they should have researched. I think the majority of the guys in this tournament are honest brokers...They would not have made it this far if they were "cheaters". Its just a weird situation, but I cannot blame MLF for not taking any further actions.
  14. I wondered about the other anglers, and to see what they thought of everything. If there were DQ's....Wheeler would not be AOY this year. It would default to JLee or maybe someone else depending on the finish of this tournament. I think MLF is taking the blame thus not punishing any of the anglers.
  15. I have never used the double rig. It is too complicated for a fella like me. My fingers and my mind to do not get along all the time when doing knots. That is why I stick with the tried and true ole fisherman knot (improved clinch) to tie on everything.
  16. Randy Howell was using a double fluke rig. Also illegal. I 100% agree with you. MLF did not know about it, or forgot about it apparently. Easy fix though. Cite the anglers make the changes in MLF rules to those specific spots, and keep it moving. I doubt it would be jeopardizing anything. I bet these tournaments do something decent for the week with the local economy. Also the advertisement of the lakes and area helps as well.
  17. I figured this would happen. Its a failure at the MLF leader level. I wonder if the MLF will pay the fines for them? I think it is for Walleye preservation is why they do this. At least that is what they are saying on the other forum as the lakes are great Walleye fisheries.
  18. I feel like the only thing that can really be done, is cite the Anglers who broke it if they go after them. MLF will not do anything about it because someone obviously did not research the laws to make sure the MLF rules followed the state laws. I know it is the angler's responsibility to know the local laws etc. However, there is someone on the MLF payroll who does this as well, and to not announce that to the officials, or the anglers prior to was tournament director level failure. I doubt they punish the anglers.
  19. I doubt he craps out totally, but I think the changing conditions has effected his spots. AOY is much deserved, he is a hammer. I wonder how this MN law stuff will change if anything the outcome of the tournament. If they make a big enough stink out of it, I could see some other anglers calling foul.
  20. So apparently over on the *** forums, there is a 20 page thread about MLF pro breaking MN law during this tournament. Essentially, the MN law says you can only have 1 line, 1 hook in the water at a time. MLF allows anglers to use two lines in once. Randy Howell had a double fluke rig, Wheeler and Alton JR used two lines at a time during the event. The guys over there are going back and forth about should MLF DQ these anglers for breaking the MN law. Also, some of the guys there contacted MN DNR, and it seems like the are investigating the issue!
  21. I am not a certified standalone plumber. I have flipped two houses in the last two years by myself, minus a couple of sub contractors for roofing and quartz. Residential DIY plumbing is extremely easy in my opinion. The newer technologies now make it a breeze. You mentioned PEX and SharkBite fittings. Every "real" plumber I know, do not use SharkBite fittings as the norm. They are too expensive and prone to leaking over time. Most will use the pex crimp ring system with the brass fittings. They now have flexible drain lines to go to a P-trap, so essentially you may not even need to measure for those things anymore. Just connect and inspect for leaks. Plumbers who are doing initial build rough in, inspections and final plumbing can make fantastic money. I hope more of our youth get in to these types of trades.
  22. Getting a bit windy this morning! It will be interesting to see how this effects the weights at the end of the day.
  23. If you get forward facing sonar, you will, at first, stare at your screen to see how they respond. It is one of those things you will have to do to get used to it by being able to see your bait, and cast accurately to your spot. Once you can see your bait, you will see the fish react or not react. It can be addicting especially if you find a school and you start getting bit. I have the Ghost 360 and Active Target. I use active target more than the 360. I use a lot of side scan and down scan to locate structure, and then use the active target once I am on it.
  24. It will be accurate as much as you can shoot well to be honest. I sighted in and zeroed on a tripod. There is not room for error to zero it. After that it would be up to me for accuracy.
