Spoons worked fast across the surface works for me.

I'd clean/lube and throw some ceramics in them reels and fish. Line guides are overated and kill your casting distance.?

No pic but I caught one on a Rooster Tail that swam out of the livewell hole in my Gheenoe. Which I believe is 3/8". Couldn't of been 2"s long.

I would suggest getting the 2 pack Cotton Cordell spoons and various sizes in chrome & gold. As beginner you are going to set the hook on trees/limbs/rocks I promise you. Absolutely no point in leaving high $ spoons in the lake while you learn the technique. My spoon box weighs 16 lbs and has 30 brands in it and if I could on have one it'd be the CC. Winter vertical spoon fishing is when I fill my fish freezer. Most important thing I learned is to find the school, drop it into them for a few minutes, if no takers then move on and don't waste the fishing time.

14 years. I always visually verify it's pumping water. I returned to the ramp last week after fishing and noticed that it wasn't pumping a full stream. I'm guessing one fin broke off then helped the rest come unglued. New impeller is installed and a replacement in the tool box. Phone calendar alarm set for 2 years.

We all blank at times and summer is my blanking season. It's just really getting good here in GA. Water temps in the upper 70's and our numbers are improving as the water drops. Really looking forward to our winter spoon fishing. We catch so many vertical spoon fishing it feels like cheating. Goodluck with your bow season.

I catch Channel catfish regularly bumping the Ned rig along the bottom.

I own 4 of the 2.0 and feel that they're fine rods. Great price point and they're light weight. BPS has a deal at times if you buy a Shimano Stradic you can get a Veritas at $50. They may do that with other reels also.
