Help!! Lews Drag Problems.
Washer stack improperly installed? It can affect the drag. Seen it before. Shorter casting distance is likely from too much oil.

Rapala DT Series Crankbaits
Threw 7 DT-6's in the trash the other day the had been stored in my 70 degree house for 1.5 to 2 years. All were in the the unopened factory box and the finishes had cracked. Done with them.

Night fishing
Become very familiar with the water you're going to fish at night while it's daylight. GPSing it in the daylight is a great way of keeping your boat off the dirt but doesn't help avoid logs, loose jets skis, flocks of 18 lb geese, and unlighted boats. You can slow down and should in the dark. A bright spotlight or flashlight and horn close at handle can be great for alerting others of your presence while you're fishing. I have LEDs 360 degrees on my boat for dock & bank fishing but they're only running when the trolling motors deployed. When other boats are running bright lights that overpower the Nav lights it's difficult to tell what direction they're traveling. I assume every boater that I cross paths with is a drunk 14 year old and that's kept me safe for over 25 years.

Do you use a new reel right out of the box?
Before I mount a baitcasting reel on a rod the spool bearings get a ultrasonic cleaning then oiled with a single drop of Rem oil.

How do you retrieve the ned rig?
I prefer to stitch the Ned Rig. I can cast & retrieve 8 or 9 long cast in 4 hours if I'm not bothered by the bass. Must be in an area that has fish for this technique to work.?

Kind of don't know...
Fish on unless it happens again. Then I'd change something.

How do you catch a PB?
Happy Birthday. As others have previously stated jig/craw and 10" to 12" worms definitely work. I would also get a large wake bait and fish it slowly. The number one producer of big fish is time. I caught my PB(from the bank) on a quick trip to function check a couple of my reels I serviced. Goodluck.

Your most productive BIG bait
I'm sure that works on those magnum hyper aggressive spots he chases. Burning it on top surely catches numbers. When the smaller fish want it burned over the grass I'll throw the 6" BS or the Bull Herring. Most of my bigger fish on the 8" have bit a stop and go medium retrieve throwing parallel to grass lines. Also bring it over shallow grass beds and kill it for just a second at the edge (drop off). When the fish have pulled off the bank I'll fish it just out of site( slow roll). Been throwing them 3 years so I've still got a lot to learn. Got a 9" I can't get a fish to even look at. The 8" verse the 9" is a very big jump in size & weight.

Fishing when it's cloudy/raining?
Going Friday night with 90% chancs of rain. I enjoy fishing the windy & rainy days minus the freezing winter days.

How long have you been fishing?
41 years & I'll never stop.

THEY DON'T MAKE THEM LIKE THIS ANYMORE
If I owned it and thought it would catch fish it'd get used.

Aluminum Boat Recommendations
A 1232 for one person/gear is fine but 2 men/gear and you probably want to keep your life jackets on the entire trip. I've had 3 big men (1,000 lbs) standing while bowfishing many times in my 1448 and nobody's been wet.
- Does quality of Rod/Reel matter?

Do you know anyone who quit fishing?
I had to stop for 2 full years. Forty hours of classes a week along with 60 hours on two jobs. 100 hours a week for 104 weeks was tough but now I fish when I want as long as I want.

Beating the Heat
I'll be on the water this morning at 4 am. Gonna fish til 9 am. I go very early or all night this time of year. Going in the am to hopefully figure out their feeding windows.
- Great day of fishing (for me)

snap back????
Loose line on the spool is likely the cause. Due to retrieving line with little or no tension.

are super long casts worthwhile?
Alot of bass follow lures a while and don't commit til they feel like the have a bait that can't escape. Lures retrieved to a boat can be trapped at the surface or lures being retrieved to the shore can be trapped with little chance of escape. I've had many bass follow my bigger swimbaits aways to crush it within feet of the boat.
