THEY DON'T MAKE THEM LIKE THIS ANYMORE

Featured Replies

Every year I face the dilemma on whether or not I should throw one of these at the bass. Rapala discontinued these sometime in the 90s after a very short run. (due to cost of production) They are popular among offshore and northern anglers and I always thought they'd do good on bass. I picked up several of the size 11 right before production ended, and I can't get myself to even opening the boxes. Made using the African Abachi wood, the lure bodies were first dipped in conductive ink and then electroplated with stainless steel before painting and clear coating. VMC still uses the Abachi wood in making the Magnum, but I doubt we'll ever see the INOX lures return.

Pretty sweet.

I got several lures I will not throw ?

Does the stainless steel plating make it more durable?

Wouldn’t touch them if they were mine...they’d stay in their original unopened boxes. I can catch bass on a lot of other baits. I don’t need to throw those

Maybe they realized they could make ABS perform the same and be just as durable....at less than half the cost?

Cool lure by the way! Don't use it.

I can respect it.

I feel differently though. I've never caught the bait collector bug. If I buy it, I'm throwing it. If I don't feel like I should throw it, why would I buy it?

Now if it was an investment to flip or sell, cool beans, money is money. I just couldn't imagine spending $10-??? on a lure and putting it in the garage like it's a 1960's Corvette.

Perhaps one day the collection will happen! I just can't get myself into it right now. Too much to be spent on gear I could really use!

This is just my personal opinion, I know it wasn't asked for. Hope I didn't step on toes :)

Is this what you are looking for? It was in my box of baits to sell next year at the Fishing Flea Market.

This is a balsa bait from what I can tell and if you want it it's yours.

Thanks for your offer, but I'm interested in INOX in the box. You should keep that and fish it.

It will be sold for $3 come January.

If I owned it and thought it would catch fish it'd get used.
