Ok so for reference I’m in Illinois and we are currently experiencing a typical “Chicago” spring which means roller coaster temperatures and RAIN which means the ants are being flooded out of their dens. I have ant traps in place but I’m still experiencing what I feel are too many ants for my liking in my kitchen. I’m probably going to have an exterminator out but I’m also planning on having a large patio poured which I’m hoping is going to be a deterrent as well. My question is does anyone have any recommendations beyond the typical ant traps or exterminator?
  2. Im sure I’m not the only one who is thinking someone better ask my wife what the heck she was thinking 35 years ago as I was never rich or good looking but I got lucky and married a beautiful woman 😃 I sure hope I can have my father’s side when it comes to the gene pool also as my dad is 86 and doing pretty well along with 2 sisters one of which is into her 90’s and is just recently having some health issues.
  3. Sending prayers your way 🙏
  4. You all know what they say about assume….it makes an out of u and me😜 Thank you Benny Hill.
  5. I’m going to mirror @Jar11591 but I’m going to play around with a 5 speed for steady retrieves with both baits you mentioned if the weather would cooperate a bit here in Illinois.
  6. Greatest response I’ve seen on here since I’ve joined 🤣😆😂 On a more serious note I responded to your Hakai post but my .02 is if you’re like me and gun shy of working on your reel find a reel repair shop that might do a “free” look and charge for the repair or think about contacting site sponsor DVT as it may be as simple as @Bigbox99said about not loosening the drag which I believe should be a heck of a lot cheaper than buying another reel.
  7. @Joedodge I’m with you on the white although I did just purchase a Carbonlite spinning rod to match my Carbonlite spinning reel and have a White Lews TP1 rod to boot🤷🏻‍♂️
  8. I’ve made a few purchases from them as well and have nothing but positive comments for them.
  9. Although I don’t have a Tatula XT I trust everyone on here who seem to have nothing but praise for it, in fact I’m still debating on picking up the bfs model. I will add I had a Carbonlite 2.0 combo and although I felt it was really nice especially considering I bought the combo when they first came out for $120.00 I just couldn’t get comfortable with the reel in hand, but definitely zero issues as far as cast ability and retrieval.
  10. If you like your Carbonlite 2.0 you’ll like the LFS. I’m pretty sure they’re the same platform.
  11. I’m not sure if you read the Okuma Hakai post but I’m going to suggest looking into one for your needs if you’re not looking for a bfs reel. If you’re comfortable with an off brand reel I can share the details in a pm and I just checked A/E and they’re offering it for $95.00 currently. I’m not going to say for certain but I’ve posted before on having luck with a local guy fixing a Piscifun reel for me after I ordered a part from Ardent which is what my Piscifun is a clone of which one of these days id love to hear if anyone else such as @Bigbox99 has had any experience with finding parts.
  12. I have an 80 that’s spooled with 10 pound Seaguar Basix fluorocarbon and love it for the mini max bladed jig or an 1/8 ounce swim jig without a trailer. I also have the last generation Tat 100 and use that primarily for 1/4 ounce spinner baits. Having said that I know this is a silly question but has anyone seen the Tat 100 SV in person? I’m curious if the color is more grey or blueish grey such as the Alphas?
  13. Ok so I’m going to start by stating I’m all over the place brand and budget wise with my spinning setups but I have and love my 13 fishing fate silver med light rod which is no longer available but I wouldn’t hesitate to try another model. I will also say if I was going to purchase another spinning setup I’d look at Daiwa rods as I feel they offer a lot of bang for the buck although I just purchased a BPS Carbonlite spinning rod to match a Carbonlite reel that I purchased last season. I will add I prefer the locking nut to be on the bottom of the rod which my 13 fishing rod has. As far as spinning reels go as long as you’re staying under a 3000 size you can purchase a Stradic from Japan right around your budget but I will add the Johnny Morris reels from BPS are made by Daiwa and are very reasonably priced especially now until the 26th of this month with their spring sale currently taking place.
  14. Would you mind sharing how you reached them as I’ve tried reaching out and cannot contact an actual person. I would really appreciate that.
  15. Oh I’m definitely taking a deep dive tomorrow 😉 And as far as bulldog…..😆
  16. How can we be sure that’s not just an empty box 🤔😆🤣
  17. I had the 7’-0” med powered carbonlite combo and like you didn’t love the look but loved the action, I wound up selling the combo but my reasoning was I wasn’t a fan of the reel in hand which just didn’t fit right for me. I did purchase an SLX and wound up selling too but as I said in another post I regret that decision and remedied that with a jdm SLX MGL that I really like. I say get the SLX and Daiwa rod as variety is the spice of life. I should add I bought a Carbonlite 1500 spinning reel that I absolutely love and I purchased a 7’-0” med hvy spinning rod just last weekend along with owning a Lews TP1 rod so I guess it wasn’t the color as much as I thought.
  18. I went to BPS last Saturday for their/my annual spring trade in sale and wound up getting a Carbonlite 7’-0” medium heavy spinning rod and a JM Platinum spinning reel in 2000 size along with a handful of baits which along with a handful of Wal Mart clearance baits should keep the monkey happy for awhile. Also for what it’s worth I had 2 BPS employees tell me the Platinum series spinning reel is a different colored Daiwa Fuego with mag seal. I should also say the Daiwa Alphas was a JDM purchase as a B-Day present to myself.
  19. @The Rooster I’ve got no dog in this fight therefore I didn’t offer any response but I see you mentioned the Shimano SLX. To be honest I’m all over the place with reel brands and if I could only use one brand it would be Daiwa for me but I had a SLX that I sold and to be honest it’s the only reel I wish I would have held onto. There was something about the way that reel just “fit” in my hand and although if you’re changing lures/weights you might have to open the side plate and adjust a brake shoe on or off I didn’t have a problem with that considering the side plate is attached and takes less than 2 minutes start to finish, ymmv. And to answer your question yes they offer a 6, 7 and 8 speed in both left and right hand retrieve.
