  1. I also have 6lb suffix 832 on a shallow spool Miravel and I’m with @new2BC4bass in that it is as thin as sewing thread and probably doesn’t have much in the way of abrasion resistance.
  2. Although I laughed at your response I’m with you on that and would even take @MN Fisher’s approach using some cheap Cajun Red or Zebco monofilament to boot.
  3. I’m certainly not going to try to talk you out of it but if you’re planning on using braid just remember the Regal has a deep spool. I believe TW has the capacity at 240 yds of 8 lb monofilament.
  4. Nope but they look interesting. When I went to BPS for the spring sale the clerk informed me the “fuzzy baits” were dang near being fought over the first weekend 😆
  5. @BrianMDTX At least you’re out there trying which is more than I’m doing lately 😉
  6. You only live once so get all 3. Signed your friend the monkey 🤣
  7. I also just purchased the 6’-9” BPS “Super Finesse” rod and although I haven’t fished it yet I’m pairing it with a older Piscifun reel with a shallow spool to see if I’m going to continue with BFS fishing. I had the reel on an old 6’-0” Mitchell Fulcrum rod and really enjoyed it but was looking for a bit longer rod, I will say the BPS rod is quite a bit more moderate and if I find enjoyment in the new setup I’m planning on seeking out a Ark Gravity reel as WRB gave it his stamp of approval along with many others on here and that means a whole lot to me. Also I handled both rods in the store and the 6’-0” is a touch faster due to the difference in length but they are both quite moderate in my humble opinion and I believe have the same or very similar line/lure ratings.
  8. Bob I for one don’t find anything you’re doing cruel in any way shape or form, nature can be cruel and as you said you’re giving the bluegill a fighting chance vs suffering from lack of water. Besides your bass have to eat as well and it seems Mother Nature gave you a natural food source to feed them.
  9. I couldn’t agree more! And this is after owning a Carbonlite 2.0 bait casting combo before the Technique specific rods/reels came out and I also bought a Carbonlite 2.0 spinning reel for $50.00 and had to buy a coordinating Carbonlite rod as the color combination matches literally nothing else on the dang market 😬
  10. Share some pics. Here’s my Type R with its cousin the Cabelas Arachnid. Sorry the photos aren’t a bit better. I got the Daiwa for $99.00 brand new in box from a store that found it while cleaning out their warehouse.
  11. My apologies if I misled anyone as I DO NOT own a Tatula X. I am also in no rush to sell what I have which includes a couple different Tatulas with my most current being the last generation Tatula 100 which I really do like.
  12. @CaughtMeABiggun I really enjoyed reading all of your reviews and although I’m not in the market for any of the reels I will say now I’m interested in handing a Tatula X. Also I literally laughed out loud reading the Everbody Loves Raymond reference, how they got away with that episode still astounds me😂🤣😆
  13. @Micro Module Police I know I’ll never change your opinion on the brands you hate on but I for one really like my Favorite Soleus especially since I bought it for $50.00 a handful of years ago on a Black Friday sale from DSG. In fact I liked it so much I bought a second one for just a few dollars more. I’m not in a hurry to get rid of my Daiwa’s or Shimano’s but by the same token I’m in no hurry to get rid of my 2 Soleus reels either. I for one do think it’s worth the full retail price but I’m happy I found mine for the bargain price I did. I also bought a KK Royal Legend 2 for around $40.00 shipped to my door and much like @Glenn pointed out I’d say it’s worth what I paid for it and although I’ve thought about trading it in many times I still haven’t. Different strokes for different folks I guess.
  14. @PhishLI Although I’ve been out a handful of times recently including yesterday much like you it’s been extremely windy when the weather has warmed up or extremely cold. So unfortunately the answer is no I haven’t but I’m glad to hear you at least got your combo out in the yard. I’m definitely excited to give the rod a go but I’m thinking it will be a few weeks before I try which should come right when the crappie move in to spawn.
  15. I’m of the opinion that if you can wait have them order all of the reels they do not currently have in stock you’d like to handle and handle them all at the same time preferably with a rod you already have or plan on purchasing. Both the Cabelas and BPS by me (yes I know they’re the same) are more than willing to do exactly as I just stated along with bringing in rods and reels they don’t normally stock as long as they carry the brand.
  16. My Tatula 80 is a 6 speed and my Alphas is a 7 speed also my SLX is a 7 speed.
  17. @SJS I will add although I’m not sure of the frame differences I had a first generation SLX and I currently have a Curado 151 MGL and also a SLX MGL and the Curado and SLX line palms very similar to me at least. I believe you have a BPS that you could possibly handle the SLX which I believe they stock or maybe handle a Curado M if they have any in stock although I’m not sure how it feels compared to the Curado MGL. I’m in no way trying to talk you out of the JM combo btw.
  18. The JM reel is a different colored Lews LFS. Also just wondering if you have any tackle shops near you where you can handle the Curado?
  19. If you’re just looking for a smaller framed reel I’ll add either the Daiwa Tatula 80 or Alphas 800 SV both share the same frame btw. I personally don’t have large hands and find both comfortable along with the SLX MGL.
  20. @A-Jay & anyone else who would care , unfortunately our foster puppy that we were hoping would be a foster failure didn’t work out. He bit our veterinarian who admitted to some of the blame but then tried to bite our son’s friend which thankfully he was okay and the final problem was he bit our son who was thankfully wearing a winter coat but it was the way he went about it with a carefully coordinated plan that was unfortunately his demise. We wound up working with our favorite GS rescue who is still having a problem placing him as he develops a deep bond for one or in our case 2 people and feels the need to protect them at all costs. Also he is very unsure of anyone he meets and doesn’t warm up quickly. My wife and I felt and still feel horrible about the whole situation.
  21. @A-Jay Those are some cuties right there. Also those paws are looking like they’re going to be some big girls.
  22. @SJS Oh man you’re in for a ride if you’re being serious. Rods are a huge rabbit hole in my opinion that makes looking for a good reel child’s play even in the budget category.
  23. @BigAngus752 The weather a couple hours North of you isn’t any better so I feel your pain.
