Good luck. I like the "save up more money" statement. That is unusual for this day and age. I have taken on second jobs for some of my toys so I wouldn't put any binds on my family. BTW I'd rather have a good used unit than a new cheaper model that wasn't as good.

Yes they are the same. You might pick up a very good unit with the way guys trade up every time a new one comes on the market. Check for sale here .

What kind of rpms are you turning at wot? I rarely do wot as my engine burns a gallon of fuel every 2 minutes that way.

I agree with papajoe. Once you have used structure scan and learned how to find and mark cover you will find that it is indispensable. It will open up a new world for you. I don't know about the Garmin but I'm pretty sure the Elite only does down scan. It is nice but not as valuable as side scan.

Did you delete what was on the card so it will be empty and not trying to send anything to the unit? If not do so.

As far as I know they migrate up streams like the whites and stripers. I don't know about stripers but whites don't bed. They drop the eggs along shoals in current and on windy banks. The males fertilize the eggs and then they are on their own.

When you look at batteries look at reserve capacity. The larger the number the longer the run time. Try to get 180 rc or more.

Sometimes the angle of the screen, the tilt of your head and whether or not you are wearing sunglasses can really have an effect on how well you can see the screens on color units.

I used it for several years. I found it to be a little stiff for my liking. It worked well on bait casters but not so good on spinning reels.

I have been running structure scan for 4 years now. In that time I have located and marked 100s of brush piles and under water lay downs using side scan. When I vertical fish I use down scan and can sometimes see fish in brush piles and drop a bait right down to them. It is just another tool but to answer your question, yes it has helped me catch more fish. I use it for crappie in the fall and winter. The first year it helped me put over 1000 in the boat.

I fish a few. In the highland reservoirs we have the water may be as deep as 100' under them. My bait choices are buzzbait if the water is calm and spinnerbait if there is wind.

The stinger mold from Jacob's is very close. It does have eyes but that doesn't matter. I've had one for 3 years now. It is a 10 cavity mold.

I'm saying I use the bead to hold the weight at any place on the line that I choose. The bead is the peg.

When I peg, which is seldom, I put a bead on the line then I pull a few strands of living rubber through the bead and secure the line. The hole in the bead is large enough so that my home made pulling tool slides through without any line damage. The bead can easily be moved up or down the line as needed.
