  1. Been doing it for a long time and never had a problem. I fish 80-100 days per year and never turn the thing off from unload to load.
  2. I wonder what the trailer looks like.
  3. I have come up with 5 different types of heads which I will try next week to see which works best for me. Thanks for the input.
  4. Thanks. I check out those hooks.
  5. I have yet to find a mold that will hold those things in place for shaky fishing. What is working for you guys.
  6. I use a Power Zap and must weld them with heat.
  7. The way I keep paint out is to hold the eye with a pair on needle nosed pliers when dipping and don't heat the head past a dull powder coat. I just did 8 dozen crappie jigs for a friend as a house warming gift for his new a lake cabin. I never had to clean out an eye. 2-3 seconds with my heat gun got the heads hot enough for the paint to stick to them.
  8. I had one come loose and never could find anything that would hold for very long. I had a friend in the lab at Loctite. He sent me all kinds of stuff to try. I finally ripped it off and put a new one on.
  9. I believe that active or stressed fish have a darker color than those that are just hanging around and happen to take your bait.
  10. Bass Pro carries some called Malon. I also used to get some called Sevelon from Cabelas.

If Mike can't get to you Cadman or smalljaw might be able to.
  12. I just finished 3 days of those conditions in a clear highland reservoir that has no vegetation and very little timber. Day 1 I had no wind so I fished jigs and plastics. I only had 2 fish in 6 hours before I went back to camp. Day 2 I had a light NW wind so I broke out a chartreuse buzz bait and caught 7 bass on it. They were on main lake points in 2-3 feet of water. Then I switched to a white 3/8 oz spinner bait and caught 2. When that bite was gone I caught 2 on a jig. Day 3 I had a decent wind from the S. I used the buzz bait. They didn't want the chartreuse so I gave them white. The buzz bait bite was1/2 way back in the coves. I caught 5 with a 4# lmb kicker. When I decided they wouldn't hit it any longer I switched to the 1/2 oz white spinner bait and caught 11 more. I still can't understand why none of the regular (worms, jigs, tubes, craws, etc) would produce no matter what type of bank or how shallow or deep I fished.
  13. Xpress is the best riding tin cup on the market. That 94 Evinrude would scare me to death waiting for the vro to go bad and blow the engine.
  14. I think you have your own version of a Whiz Jig. I've tried them but not found them to be spectacular. https://nutechlures.com/index.php/whizjig-1.html
  15. Around here spots and smallies taste better than large mouth but non of them compare with crappie and walleye.
  16. Jake you should take scaleface up on this offer and drive to his place and pick it up. That is a very generous offer.
  17. Rod tips are usually put on with the same kind of glue used on arrow heads. I just has to be heated and removed. Then a new one glued in. I had that happen to a rod this week and got it replaced for less than $5.
  18. Every Skeeter that I have been in porpoised something awful.
  19. I also use both and like JF I sometimes combine the two. I like the poison tail jig head. You might give it a look.
  20. If that is your tow vehicle, get a hitch with more drop. It shouldn't be tongue high when being towed.
  21. It sounds like you're wanting to make something perfect to be admired instead of used. There is no way you can fish a jig in highland reservoirs like we have here in MO without banging up the head. You can keep the head looking nice longer if you put on a good coat of powder paint and bake it on, then give the head a coat of epoxy. However, I find painting enough since I consider the life expectancy of a jig to be only a few casts where I throw them. If you really want harder lead, all you have to do is mix in some antimony from some (non zinc) wheel weights or printer's lead. I was given 75# of printer's lead about 20 years ago. I use it to cast really hard heads when I feel that I need them. Also it is just a tad lighter than regular plumber's lead. If you want to make jigs, jump in and get started instead of overthinking it. Just be sure you have the necessary equipment to do the job safely. I will say you also have to have a place to pour and room to store all of the molds you will be buying along with skirts, hooks, powder paint, lead pot, fluid bed, etc, etc. I have sold off several of my molds and still have 20. There is no telling how many I'd have if I sold my jigs. Anyway, good look and welcome to the addiction.
  22. If you want a good idea of its value, book it out on NADA Guides.
  23. We here in MO also can only have 3 hooks. I put willow leaf blades on the other 2.
  24. Tracker Marine is notorious for not fully equipping their rigs. If you have much in the way of electronics and run the aerator then you need a 3 bank or need to add a 1 bank.
