Spawning Question
I am sure you can get opinions but I am not sure that you can get a definitive answer to your question about the females and whether or not they will spawn after being disturbed. My guess is yes. They want to get those eggs out of their bellies. The nest guarding male is a whole other subject. I for one think it should be illegal to sight fish bass guarding the nest. People preach about catch and release but think how many potential bass aren't born when the guard gets jerked off the nest. I'd like to see the season closed during the spawn but that isn't likely to happen.

Looking for a Nice reel.
For the money the clearance Shimano Stradics are hard to beat. My wife bought a 2500. I used it and had to have one. I also bought 2 to use as Christmas presents. They were $99 at BPS.

Spinning rod advice!
You might also check the clearance spots. My wife bought herself a St Croix Avid the other day on close out at BPS. I think it was close to $100.

Scents for bass home made or store bought????
If you want some stinkum to stay on the bait mix it with petroleum jelly instead of olive oil. Smear it on the bait and it will stay there all day.

Lure Selection
1. FLW beavers on jigs 2. Seldom 3. Yes T-rigged in moss 4. Wind and depth determine size for me the smaller and slower the drop the better

How do you define a "dink"
Dink=skidder and a skidder is any fish small enough to skid across the top of the water not pulling your bait and line back in after the hook set.

looking for.....
You might start with places like boats.com, boat trader.com, used boats.com, used boats for sale.com, iboats.com. If that doesn't work then look at specific brands. Go to the mfg website and get a dealer list. Find dealers in your area and check their inventory on their websites. Good luck.

X-Mas Rod Help
The last time I was at BPS they had Bionic blades on sale for $50. That is a $30 savings.

Rod ratings chart ?
My post wasn't clear enough. They are both spinning (Avid AVS66MF) (Gloomis IMX SJR872). What I noticed was the difference in the diameter of the blanks + the IMX is quite a bit stiffer than the Avid. So I guess there is no standard for what is a UL, L, ML, M, MH or H from one company to another. If that is the case then all this recommendation going on in these forums is pretty much a waste of time, right?

Towing with a Minivan
My rig weighs 3500 lbs and my wife pulled it for several years with her Winstar van. He pulled it from MO to Louisana and back with no problem. She used to have a 19' deck boat and pulled it with the van and the van was usually carrying 6 people.

Rod ratings chart ?
Is there anything out there that compares oranges to apples? My wife just bought a St. Croix Avid AVS66M It is a M with fast action with recommended 6-12# line 3/16-3/8 oz baits. I just traded for a Gloomis IMX 782 It is a M withfast action with recommended 6-12# line 1/8-3/8 oz baits. When compared side to side with the same pressure the Gloomis is much stiffer than the Avid an has only 1/2 the diameter. I would like to see some more specs if they are available.

Loomis 803 or 804
I don't have either but do have 843 and 844. The 3 is MH the 4 is H. I won't go heavier than 1/2 on the 843s. 1/2 with med to large trailers and up go on the 844.

Any G3 opinions?
Yes you should be able to tow it just fine. It is on top of the list you have. They are made about 50 miles from where I live. Here is a little history. A man, I think his name was Lowe, started a boat company and ran it successfully for years. It was all weld, aluma weld or some such. Later in time his son started up and ran Lowe boats successfully. G3 is the company started by the grandson (third generation of boat builders). Each of these men have sold their companies and gone on to other ventures. G3 is now owned by Yamaha. They are exceptionally good boats and have come from a long line of boat builders.

Buying boat off of ebay?
The only way I would consider a boat that is not local would be to buy a new or new noncurrent from a dealership. There are too many things which can be wrong and you are left holding the bill.

Single axle vs. Dual Axle?
Like he says they are necessary on big boats. I have a tandem axle now and hate it. There is no way to move it around by hand. It also takes 40 acres to turn it around but I do feel save pulling the 3500 pounds down the road.

Inside the Stradic FH
My wife decided she wanted a new setup. She bought a St. Croix Avid and a close out 2500 Stradic FH. I used it the other day and wow that is a good reel. So I bought 3 more. My question is when I take them down are there marked differences compared to other Stradics?

Casting out drop shot?
If I don't have a ledge or grassline that is the way I fish it. One thing that has been working well for the guides in my area is a double drop shot. Put the bakudan sinker on with a bait 10-12" above it and another bait 10-12" up the line. That way you have two offerings.

Powder Paint Question?
I also have a toaster oven that cost $5 at a garage sale. I use it when I am cooking a dozen or so bottom bouncing jigs.

making a jig skirt
I have been using the windings out of an old electric motor for years. They cut at just the right length and were free since the motor wouldn't run.

Powder Paint Question?
You can find them at your local Wal-Mart Super Center in hdw. for $12.97 which includes a propane bottle. I light it and set it on the lowest flame I can get with it going out. Only a few seconds of heat is enough to do the paint. If you leave it there very long you will only have a hook and wire. I alto insert it into the paint hook first. A little powder will get on the hook but will wipe off. Cure them if you want but if they aren't banging around on the bottom the paint will proll outlast the spinnerbait if it is producing fish. I wore out 3 of these this fall and didn't cure the paint.

Powder Paint Question?
I guess I stand corrected. I have heated stuff with butane lighters and don't remember any soot. I have been using a little propane torch for so many years maybe I have forgotten. I'd try it and see if the paint sticks. I have used candles in the past and don't remember any painting problems.
-
Powder Paint Question?
Your flame must be a candle. A lighter or hand torch shouldn't give out the soot. I don't cure heads that don't make a living bouncing around on the bottom.
