I bought this thing from BPS and didn't like the $.50 spool so I put it on a broken rod and an old reel a friend gave me. It looks like a bait grabbing tool but I guess I am not smart enough to use it because I still haven't gotten a bait back with it.

I agree that the football is a pretty good rock jig. However, I have started using the banana in rocks and it does as well for me, if not a little better, than the football. I do quite a bit of brush fishing. I have found that going to a smaller hook helps in brush. I use a 2/0 for my brush jigs. They don't get hung as badly but still catch fish.

The lakes I fish have brush piles on every point and most banks. Some put in by agencies and some by individuals. One guy at Bull Shoals has 800 brush piles (I'd really like to get hold of his gps sd card). Sycamore trees will sink without any additional weight. They are the cover of choice in my neck of the woods.

You can get the same results with a bell sinker and a worm hook for a fraction of the cost.

I am partial to the banana, football and arke heads. Like GMAN said. You have to fit the head to how you will be using it. As far as size goes, I throw 3/8 less than I do 1/4 or 1/2 oz.

I would start fishing with a jig or trig not necessarily deep but close to deep water. I'd also fish those lay downs with jigs, slow rolled spinnerbaits, and crank baits. This time of year the fish here in MO I find mostly in very rocky or ledgy places. BTW: Is this Brush Hollow Creek?

You might try the gray pipe for electrical conduit. I use it for extra support because it will bend and form an arch so I don't have to make any joints.

I use the BPS rod wraps. I buy the XL and can do 2 rods with it. I use it as much for identification as anything else.

When motoring I wear some wind proof gloves and a wind proof hood that I found at Target. When the boat is stopped I only wear rain proof gloves or beaded jerseys. I carry multiple pairs of each.

That is what I would use. Mine are 2000s because they are old. I use that size on everything above 5'9".

Gman a fluro leader has lessened the problem for me though not eliminated it.

Wrap some thread around in the space and see if that helps.

I don't change anything because of a front. This time of the year I am fishing tubes and craw jigs. I just expect the fish to be a little tighter to cover not any deeper. Most of the time they won't chase a bait. It must be right in their dinner bucket.

My best day for any one species was white bass. Another guy and I had 312. The second best day was the two of us fishing for white/striper hybrids. We had 285 up to 8.5 lbs.

I have a Gloomis IMX 843 SJR which is a little too stiff for the way I use it. I'd like to trade it for an IMX SJR 782 if anyone has one and wants it to live somewhere else.

Loosening the drag is a good thing. I loosen the drags on all my baitcasters when the day is done before the boat goes on the trailer.

That is a hard call to make. I have owned both and both have their good and bad points. I currently run a glass boat because I fish lakes from 20,000-60,000 acres. I have it for the stability and safety. I think you and your bud will just have to work this thing out. Is this a partnership with both of you paying for the boat?

Organizing stuff is always a pain for me. I keep some in clear boxes, some in tackle bags and some in original packages. I bought a plastic closet at Lowes which has helped. In the pic it was just a couple of days old. I may have to buy another one.

Deep is a relative term. If you are from TX it is anything over 5'. I seldom catch anything over 70' deep here in MO but do catch a lot of fish from 30-55' deep in the winter. Last year a big money tourney was won with the fish coming from 105 fow. I use tubes, jigs, grubs, and jigging spoons for my deep fishing. If you have any bluffs where you fish, I suggest you get on the end of some of them and do some experimenting.

It all depends on the weight of the baits you throw. I use 3 different rods for spinnerbaits. They range from 6.5' to 7' from MH to H. It all depends on the size of the bait. For 3/8 tandem, single and buzz I like the MH rods. For 1/2s I like the H. The rods I use are Gloomis IMX 783, 843, and 844. They are priced from around $230-$265. I like them all but for the range of baits one rod won't do it all. The H is too stiff for long casts on the lighter baits and the MHs are too limber for the heavier ones.

You will need a piece of plexiglass or sheet aluminum, drill 1" holes in it so the water can go back and forth. If you use plexi. you will have to rig some way to hold it (brackets). If you use alum you can bend the ends and screw or rivet it to the livewell walls.

I have been in the boat business. I honestly can say that in my top ten boats Nitro isn't there.
