Keep your eye on a specific target. Don't look generally, but specifically, like a baseball pitcher looking at the catchers glove instead of the strike zone.

I have tried a bunch of different spinning reels. I have gotten rid of all but Shimano. Even their $50 reels beat lots of other brands. I since I started using Shimano I won't even look at anything else. I have 13 of their spinning reels. If your budget allows, I recommend the Stradic or Symmetry but like Raul said the Sahara is pretty good for the money.

I use a hand held and a lot in the truck, boat and geo caching. Like stated it eats batteries so I bought a charger and some rechargeable batteries. I always carry a couple of extra ones with me. What ever gps you buy if you don't get one with mapping capability, you will be wasting your money.

Have you considered taking it to a marine dealer and having them sell it for you?

You should get a couple of dozen of all three in 3 or 4 colors. You can't have too many jigs. You also should consider some 3/4 oz in the same colors as the other sizes.

I like a H or MH extra fast because I let them take it then I want to be able to cross their eyes.

I'd say you have been there at least 20-25 minutes too long. Unless it is a long bank I don't spend more than a few casts in any one spot without some action. There are too many other places to fish.

My wife bought a deck boat a few years ago. She loved it. 6 adults could go out and have plenty of room. It had a bimini top and 4 fishing seats. The only problem I had was I like to fish windy places and its high sides wouldn't allow it.

I tend to go heavier than many. I use an IMX 844c for the heavier jerk baits and an IMX 843c for the smaller ones.

Since I am only able to fish rocks and brush piles I went to the light wire hooks several years ago so I could get a few back. I rarely have fish straighten them out but brush and rocks sure do. That is why I keep pliers and a hook sharpener handy all the time.

Preferences aside, you have quite a bit of difference in 42-50" shaft. If those were my only choices I would go with the one that best fit my boat and my needs. My boat came from the factory with a 42" and I upgraded to a 45" before I took it home. I haven't been sorry but I don't think I would have room for the extra length of a 50.

I use my 843c for 3/8 oz baits and lighter and the 844c for 1/2 oz and heavier.

That is only one size. Like stated I carry 5 sizes so I keep over 1,000 jigs in the boat all the time. I think I have at least 5 rods rigged right now with them.

I use bucktail jigs for swimming and finesse fishing. I use them in 5 sizes and a bunch of colors. Here are a few of the colors in 1/4 oz.

An other consideration is the fish population itself. Many lakes have 2 distinct populations: those who live and/or frequently visit shallow water, and those that stay deep much of the time. The deep water fish seem to feed on a regular basis and for me time of day doesn't matter much . On the other hand the shallow fish will be biting as the light gets on the water and much of the time within an hour of sunrise they get the heck out of Dodge. They either move deeper or move out and suspend.

Just trim it up until you like the ride. It will vary depending on speed, wind and boat traffic.

I had 2 Berkleys and 1 Rapala. I couldn't get consistent readings from any of them so I bit the bullet and got the Boga Grip. They are accurate and certifiable as well as a good fish landing device for jerk and crankbait fish.

Same here. I fish a lot of rocky places and the football head works best for me.

I have been doing well on a black 1/2 oz single spin which I make. I down sized the blade to a #4 Colorado and use braid. That thing really thumps and it getting me some good fish.

I had a dual pro which bit the bullet. I priced some and finally called dual pro. They were $30 cheaper than Bass Pro and offered me a $100 discount on a new one if I would send them the old one. So I ordered it and sent them the old unit and saved $130. They also paid shipping for the return.

Ketchup will do a passable job of polishing but Semi Chrome is the best polish I have used.
