  1. Thanks all for the replies. I appreciate it.
  2. Thanks I'll check it out.
  3. Hoping for some suggestions on a YouTube channel or some other resource where the more prevalent body of water talked about are natural lakes. This is my fourth summer working on becoming a better bass angler and almost every video I see is reservoir fishing. I always look for Seth Feider to post something since my house is right by where he grew up fishing but he's busy winning angler of the year. Thanks.
  4. Thanks for the responses. Couldn't resist buying an xbites a while back for another application which has left me 1 reel short. I realize the rod makes a huge difference but I need a reel for now and figured I'd see thoughts on one for those specific weight ranges of the crankbaits I mentioned. Thank you all for the input.
  5. Looking for opinions on a daiwa reel to launch square bill to medium diving crankbaits. I currently use aTatula sv, looking to add distance. Thank you.
  6. Wondering if anyone has had any custom kayak work done at a shop somewhere near Minneapolis area. Specifically I was looking to have my rudder system upgraded on my pelican hydryve 110.
  7. Looks like you are able to buy a nice reel which will help tremendously. I started with a black max with big game. After 1 trip I switched to tatula sv reel with 12lb trilene xl. The difference was night and day. Big game was way too stiff for a new caster imo. And as someone else suggested a mh fast rod will cover most of what you are looking to do adequately. If you said your rod budget many of us could offer suggestions. Good luck!
  8. well punchfishing does a video review of a legend x which seems like what I want but he's calling it a7'1" fast. When I look up models I'm seeing extra fast at that length and fast at 7 foot. I like the softer tip in the model he's showing and just want to pick the correct one if I go that route. Thanks for the response.
  9. Wondering what people think of this rod and where it excels.
  10. Started bass fishing with an ugly stick. Then went to st Croix mojo bass. Next 2 rods were shimano expride and tatula elite. The expride and tatula elite were significant jumps in sensitivity for me. My vague advice would be to buy 2 rods in that price range and use your favorite of what you currently have until you feel comfortable replacing that rod with another in that 250-300 price point. Let us know what you decide!
  11. Now if only I can find one lol
  12. Tatula lt 3000. Had it for a couple years and love it.
  13. Thanks for the response. Punchfishing does a video review and the action is really what intrigues me.
  14. Curious if anyone has fished this rod. They are out of stock everywhere. Tempted to buy one but haven't seen many reviews.
  15. Guess not many fish bass around there. I'll try Mallalieu.
  16. Looking for a lake in or around Hudson with a good bass population. Ill be fishing from a kayak. Any suggestions would be great, thank you.
  17. I personally have switched to 8:1 For every technique. I have no issue slowing down my retrieve. I think the thought that you need lower gear ratio for power has changed with new technology. But I'm no expert by any means.
  18. Rage tail craw as jig trailer. Have had to try different colors this year due to lack of supply but the fish haven't seemed to mind.
  19. I've caught >1lb bass and <22 lb muskie on a3/8 oz standard size dirty jigs swim jig.
  20. Well i guess another way to put it would have been bait to cover water since I'm not using electronics. Thanks for all the replies.
  21. Title pretty well covers the question but more specifically in 10 plus feet. I kayak fish with no electronics and just curious how you all would approach this. Do crankbaits lose much of their effectiveness when they can't bounce/ dig into covet in these soft bottom lakes? Thanks guys.
  22. I tried straight fluoro on spinning once. Then after it started jumping off the spool i switched to 10lb suffix 832 to a fluoro leader and haven't looked back.
  23. Bought a flatside special first, recently bought the perfect pitch. Really nice rods.
  24. Currently its probably 7'3" mh moderate poison adrena, 8:1 chronarch. Mgl. 30lb suffix 832 to 12lb Seaguar fluoro leader. 3/8 oz. 6th sense bluegill or green pumpkin divine swim jig with a rage craw or swimmer trailer.
  25. My personal preference i have a moderate action rod which i love for moving baits, swim jig, chatterbait, spinnerbait...etc. it certainly would work for your desired applications but based on what you said id return it for fast. I live in Bloomington Minnesota myself and lakes within 30 minutes all have plenty of weeds which i suppose helped me fall in love with swim jigs. I'd suggest you guys try them if you don't already since you are in somewhat the same area. Have fun!
