  1. Depends on the glider and what you want it to do... as the water temps increase you have to keep tinkering with them. Do you want it to sink level? Do you want it to nose down when you retrieve it? Do you want it slow float? Super slow sink? There is no right answer...
  2. Exactly. A Zinkerz cut in half.
  3. Then it's not really a ned. It's just a jighead with a bigger worm on it. A ned is really a 1/16 oz jighead or lighter...
  4. I mean Ned's are great if you want to catch 1 lb bass, panfish, Perch, the occasional Trout or a rock bass. But for big bass? Nah.
  5. 1. 6" Senko wacky rigged 2. Magnum Rage Bug t-rigged 3. 10-12" worm on a c-rig 4. Gajo Spirit Shad dropshot 5. Trash Fish on a 1/2 oz 8/0 beast hook
  6. I was expecting this thread to be about PB Rats, a Gas Rat, Johnny rat, illude rat, rad rat or some other custom rat bait...nope.
  7. Lack of food and a broken predator line often does this in my experience. Environmental factors should always be considered as well
  8. Vanish is known for high memory. Reel Magic breaks line down. Fluorocarbon gains a lot of memory sitting on a spool. I don't know if your spools have bearings on them but you could dunk them in hot water for a minute and then stretch the line out.
  9. The Daiwa Seth Feider 6'9" ML or the Megabass Jerkbait Special are my jam. I got the latter after I received the new Daiwa jerkbait rod snapped in half on delivery and they didn't have a replacement but a guy sold me the Megabass for 150.
  10. If you are having a custom rod built you can have whatever you want- I have seen some that have their names on them or a logo of their choosing.
  11. I have never owned a Shimano. I didn't like the way any if them felt in my hands. Daiwa is far and away better for me. I currently have 30 Daiwa baitcasters. So you were expecting it to look perfectly even across the spool?
  12. Do you want to save the line? If I am saving the line I use a drill with a set up I have to secure an old spool to it and just zip it off the spool. When respooling it have a bit of tension on the spool and line - while reeling make sure the t-wing it evenly distributing the line on the spool. I always do this and then tie my line to a telephone pole and back the whole spool off and reel it back in evenly and very tightly on the spool.

  14. Yes - that's the t-wing but if you are unspooling you can just take it off the backside of the spool. The t-wing allows the line to freely come off the spool when casting and when engaged it snaps back to be narrow ang feed the line across the whole spool.
  15. You must be rainbowing that puppy - roll cast it and have it gently hit the water.
  16. In our club last year l, the 12 fish I caught: 3 - gliders 2 - hair jigs 5 - structure jig 1 - wacky worm 1 - Frog
  17. I don't know why everyone is so opposed to Cortland considering it's made in the USA. A lot of the others are not...
  18. Big baits, big bites. Fish the times of the year bigs are most likely - spring and fall. When it warms up fish the night bite. I have caught more 20 bass over 5 in past year - only 1 wasn't on a swimbait.
  19. Welcome to fishing in the east. You don't fish a spot that hasn't been touched within the last few minutes and many times you could make a bomb cast to 4 or 5 boats
  20. Eastern Pa doesn't have a lot of huge lakes - 5700 acres is wallenpaupack and the one closest to me is Beltzville at a whopping 950 acres. The majority are much smaller.
  21. I switch it up, trust me. There are people in our club throwing dropshots and ned rigs all day not catching a keeper. I just think the amount of fish compared to the pressure has them all backed off and wary. In a 1400 acre lake everyone hits every spot 5 times over. FFS has killed special honey holes IMO. Yes, we have those way points. So do the 50 other anglers that hit that same spot. At a recent tournament on a pretty legendary Fishery I had 50 boats within 200 yards everywhere I fished for the day. I have been fishing for my whole life pretty regularly- things have changed IMO. Yes - I can go fish the Delaware River for some smallies but they are generally smaller fish and none of our tournaments are on the river. Pa waters have really become private in Eastern pa - within 50 miles I have about 8 bodies of water I can fish which will all be crowded. And the state doesn't give a d**n about bass fishing. The main lake I fish is a "big bass" lake so the minimum size is 15" but honestly I have caught many more over 15 than I have under. So I really question the tactic. And when a team consisting of a good angler and one of the top Pros in the country can't catch a 4 bag limit, I really question it...
  22. Same here - pretty much all private mismanaged waters. The PA Fish Commission only cares about their Trout season. They don't do anything for bass.
  23. I fish in a club and it's been a long time since I had more than a 3 bass day. Been a very very long time since I had more than a 10 bass day(2 years). The last 5, 8-hour tournaments I fished, I have caught a combined 2 bass. 40 hours for 2 bass. I fish as a coangler in mostly 20 HP restricted boats. Due to the smaller boats we go with a 3 fish limit and last year in 11 tries I caught a limit twice. Overall, I caught 12 bass tournament fishing in our club last year. I used to catch a lot more fish and they were easier to catch it seems to me. I consider myself a decent fisherman but not great. The thing that gets me is we have some absolute sticks in our club and at many of the tournaments most people aren't getting limits. Recently we had 32 people fishing in a tournament and out of those fishermen only 1 person had more than 1 fish. 32 anglers that all catch fish consistently and have been fishing most of their lives...and we can't catch more than 1. This is consistently the case - many of our guys utilize FFS and and have great equipment but we get thrashed on Saturdays. It seems like fishing on the East coast is getting harder and harder - fishing pressure is relentless and great fishing days are few and far between. I have a few places I can go to catch a bunch of smaller bass and Pickerel but you know you aren't going to catch any hogs. I know some states help bass anglers but in Pa they could care less. They are more concerned about stocker Trout and Striped Bass in the reservoirs - 2 things that don't proliferate which makes no sense.
