Recommend me a swimbait, BR!
This time of year - get a huddleston or a trash fish.

2000 or 2500 Daiwa Tatula LT?
I recently had the same dilemma and I went with the shallow spool 3000. The weight difference from the 2500 to the 3000 is .1 oz - virtually nothing. The larger spool gives you a little better casting distance with finesse baits. After using it a few times now I would 10/10 get the same reel. TALT3000-CXH is the model number.

Site Appears Real Slow
It reminds me of those days long forgotten with the 28800 (or slower) dial up.

Baitcaster Line help
I am on the braid train here too. When mono backlashes it can and will break later. 30 lb braid is pretty easy to pick out.

What technique would you teach to a beginner angler?
The problem with moving baits is it is going to require lots of casting. Lots of casting means a lot more problems - whether it is a spinning reel or casting. So in the regard I want something they can fish a little slower. Depending on the water it would be a texas rig or a wacky rigged worm for me. That's what I show kids and I show a lot of different kids how to fish.

A bird stole my swimbait!
I have caught a Beaver, turtles, snakes, a muskrat, a merganzer, a seagull, a hawk and a bat. The bat was dead because when casting i whacked it with a large muskie sized jitterbug and the hook went through it's eye. I had a Bald Eagle come crashing down trying to get my huddleston this summer but I was able to jerk it out of the way.

Ned rig in heavy current
I dont know why that's a problem. Most of their natural bait is doing that too

Lew's closing Strike King?
Found this article. https://dailymemphian.com/article/8029/Strike-King-Lure-Co-in-Collierville-files-notice-of-layoffs I dont think the strike king brand is going under - probably just moving their facility somewhere cheaper to produce.

Looked everywhere, still can't find it
The weather this fall has been awful in the northeast. We went from 90's to 30's with rain and cold. We didn't have enough stable weather patterns so the temps dropped like a rock. Most of the water temps are below 50 now when they were upper 70's a month ago.

Swimbait Set Up
I use a Lexa hd 300 and a lexa 300 winn. The line capacity on any of the smaller reels is an issue when lobbing out 6 ounce+ baits.

Lyn cheap line- Anybody tried it?
The one thing about Milliken is, this is job. He will promote one thing and a few weeks later bash it...i.e. kastking reels. He is doing this for a living and gets products and kickbacks by promoting it. He is doing a big service to 6th Sense lures.(deservedly IMO)

KastKing Does it again...
The 60 dollar promo was limited to 300 and those are gone. There is a 70 dollar one that has 78 claimed. That's almost 400 reels in less than a day - I would say that's pretty good.

Has it gotten easier?
It's definitely easier. Technology has really bridged the gap. The downside though is pressured waters have become even harder because everyone can pinpoint the fish, the baitfish and the structure. Those who have been fishing for a long time can still go out and catch fish but I bet the under 30 crowd would have a really tough time catching fish without their technology. One area that has really had an impact technologically is for ice fishing. The new 3d sonars have changed how people fish and I am in the school of thought they should be banned altogether from ice fishing. Ice fisherman can pretty much go out and clean lakes out in a very quick methodical manner now.

$100 (+ or -) reel for spinnerbaits
Why do you say that? I use a Daiwa Lexa 400 (8.1:1) ratio, 42 inches of retrieve for 8+ hours straight casting huge bucktails without any trouble.
-
KastKing Does it again...
I am ok with it since my water will be hard in a month and march is when I will start fishing again anyway...not that I will need a 42" retrieve in March but it will be cool to get.
-
KastKing Does it again...
Did anyone else receive an email? Am I just a schmuck that doesn't understand timezones? Lol Ok, I got it and although I don't need another reel, I got one anyway...

I have not received an email despite signing up with 2 emails...

OLD SCHOOL
When I was younger someone told my friend and I these were amazing and weedless for a very weedy place we were fishing. We threw on pork trailers and chucked them out and tried to retrieve them. Nope, they just got all the muck and weeds so we stopped fishing them and thought people were stupid. 15 years later I figured out they were a topwater lure. ?

If you could only fish 1 bait at a lake/pond.
None of the above - Probably a spinnerbait since it is so versatile.

$99 Reel Matchup
Since I live in the realm of sarcasm I am caught off guard when others use it

$99 Reel Matchup
I think a lot of people do. Probably more people than you would think, once you hit 100 dollars people think that is pretty expensive. And it is, for the guy that fishes once in a while...
