  1. I’m definitely intrigued by the victory! do you have one currently? I’m mostly using ALX rods right now and have definitely looked at the enox!
  2. No higher than the IMX.
  3. Hi All, I’m in the market for a casting rod with plans on using mostly weightless 5/6 inch senkos and mixing in light weights (1/4 or so) and I’m looking for some suggestions. I’ve looked at the Zodias 7’2 M and MH and then the Loomis E6X or IMX 853. I don’t have any experience with either series so I’d be interested in some feedback on those or any other rods I should consider. As always I appreciate the feedback!
  4. Personally for me I mostly use a form of green pumpkin for the chatterbait and almost always go with a rage menace in KVD magic
  5. Hey All, sorry, meant to post this in the other topic section, please move if possible!! I’m looking to add a new jig rod and curious to get feedback from anyone that got their hands on these when Dobyns did their testing phase a little while ago, wondering how these compare to the Sierra and others in their family. As always other suggestions are welcome, and for context I’m looking to cap at about $220, any help is greatly appreciated!
  6. I try really hard to branch out and not just go with 1 company, however, I do find myself continuing to come back to Shimano and personally I feel most comfortable with them. I will say though, the pandemic has helped be continue to branch out and picked up an Okuma Helios which I am a huge fan of and would recommend it to anyone!
  7. This is exactly where I was going to go. I don’t love glass rods and as such the Toadface has been my go-to. Super versatile too but really great with chatterbaits.

  9. Had no intentions of doing it going into the winter but I caved and grabbed a Curado DC. Actually hoping I hate it so I don’t get the itch to buy more...
  10. I’m going with an Ikos73 w/curado K and as much as I love a chatterbait I think I have to go with a Nichols sledgehammer swim jig for the extra versatility
  11. It’s slightly over $150 but the ALX Ikos series has a few good options, one is a 7ft Heavy and one is a 7’3 Heavy. I have the 7’3 and use it frogs among other things, super versatile. Quality is really good and great customer service.
  12. I would agree with this, KVD magic in the rage menace is my go to chatterbait trailer and it’s been killer for me.
  13. I use mostly ALX rods and they’re fantastic. For what you mentioned I’d look into their Zolo series, they sit at $230 and sounds like the Toadface or Dragger models would fit what you’re looking for but just about all of their rods fish multiple techniques really well.
  14. Thanks for all the feedback, decided to pull the trigger so we’ll see how it goes. Thanks again!
  15. This is very helpful thank you. The Okuma products seem solid but it’s tough to find people that have real experience with them so this is appreciated!
  16. Anyone have any experience with this reel? Or Okuma reels in general for that matter, I don’t have any experience with the brand. I’m looking for something new, with Shimano having some delays/back orders I’m poking around at other brands and this seems interesting, thanks in advance for any input!
  17. Alright here we go: 1) Chatterbait 2) Frog (popping or walking) 3) weighted TX rig (zoom z craw mostly) 4) Whopper plopper 5) Wacky worm the weighted tx I mostly peg in the summer and in the spring and fall i’ll unpeg and throw a worm on it more often. Chatterbait and frog are my go-to’s, they seem to be with me at all times.
  18. My go to would be an ALX IKOS promise 7. Very versatile rods, the customer service is awesome and I’ve never had any issues with them, certainly worth a look, I don’t think you’d be disappointed.
  19. Last few years I’ve been moving more towards ALX rods and they’re every bit as good as any of the Dobyns, Daiwa or St. Croix rods I’ve owned. The Ikos series is solid as well, and the rods are all pretty versatile.
  20. The 734 is a great option as Lionheart mentioned. Dobyns rods tend to be little lighter than they're rated so a heavy tends to act more like what a Medium-Heavy would be from another company. I have that rod and it's plenty sensitive for senkos and some of the lighter baits you might wanna throw IMO, I don't use it for anything particularly heavy.
  21. Personally, if I were looking at those same options I would go with either the Fury or spend the extra money on a SC Mojo. I have those and i'm really happy with them so if your budget can allow it I would bump those to the top of your list.
  22. I'm a little shorter than you so personally I don't go any longer than about 7'4 for all my rods. I have a lot of 7'3 rods and that's what I use to throw jigs on like you were. For me that's a good length but naturally everyone will feel differently. I would say if the 7'3 was comfortable than stick with that, hope that helps!
  23. I too have never used the GForce but have equally great things to say about the Fury series. I have 2 spinning and 2 casting and they're terrific rods. I have a handful of higher end rods but more often than not the Furys are the main rods I find myself with on the water. My only critique of the Fury is they tend to be a power down from what they are rated IMO (H is more like a MH.) Not sure if everyone feels that way but that's my take on them, overall they're great rods.
  24. That's a great tip about the Pflueger, thank you! I was looking at the Tatula a little bit and people seem to really like it so that's definitely an option I think, Thanks for the help!
  25. Hey All, I'm in the market for the new drop shot combo. I know what rod i'm going with but i'm torn on which reel to grab. I have some flexibility in price but have mostly been looking between $130-$170 range for a reel. A few that I have looked at have been the Lews pro speed spin, Daiwa BG, Daiwa Procyon, Shimano Ultegra and the Pflueger supreme xt. Anyone have any experience with any of these or recommendations from your own preferences? Any input would be greatly appreciated!
