  1. 10 away from the loop of the knot, 10 back(make sure you line up your return wraps with your first set of 10), then put your tag end through the loop 5 times, wet, then cinch.
  2. 10 lb Trilene Sensation
  3. I like Berkeley Trilene Sensation and Yo Zuri Hybrid.
  4. Sliderhead
  5. Eagle Claw ned heads are a dollar a pack cheaper, and the keeper is much better.
  6. I voted Yum, because 50 percent of the time I have a ned rig or a drop shot on my setup, the bait is a Yum Dinger. A 5 inch bit in half on my ned, and a 3 inch wacky rigged on my drop shot............. But if I'm going to say who makes the better product its GY. If I KNOW that I'm going to be in the presence of large fish, Yamamoto baits will be brought along. Large pieces of salt within your bait rather than more of a salt solution that you get from most other bait companies, exponentially add softness and therefore action to your soft plastics.
  7. My biggest problem with todays Youtube "influencers", is that I rarely see any of them actually fishing or teaching others how to fish. Its usually a 20 minute video, with the first ten minutes of the video flaunting their upper class, excessive lifestyle with elevator music or absolutely terrible sound cloud hip hip playing in the background. Then two minutes of time in the vehicle driving the boat that their fathers most likely bought for them(and lets be serious these kids wouldn't be able to live this way without coming from a very upper crust background), five minutes of drone footage, and then two minutes of actual fishing, on a private lake of course. No actual skill involved, just mostly a commercial for what ever rod company they are pimping for, plus everyone has fishing gloves, a balaclava, and a flat brimmed hat on. So vapid and devoid of content. Mostly just modern materialistic influencer culture, but in a bass boat and with fishing rods.
  8. The Easy Shiners in Arkansas Shiner and Gold Flash Minnow have always produced very well for me.

Feider Flys are just darter head jigs, painted black and tied with a slightly longer length of Marabou. In fact it is an Outkast Tackle darter head just with Marabou tied onto it. Very easy to make yourself.
  10. The Ned rig and its variants are a simple and extremely productive way to fish. Like most people who try it and have no luck, it usually always boils down to overworking the bait, which is often the case with all finesse techniques. Its isn't meant to be fished like a jig, most of the time you are simply moving the bait by raising your rod tip and then deadsticking it. Its a lot like verticle dropshotting in that way. There are not many conditions where you are trying to force a reaction strike from a fish with something like a Ned. If you do get one it happens as soon as the bait hits the water usually, and wasn't intended to be that way, but just a fortuitous mistake.
  11. Strike King Fat Coffee Tube.
  12. I handled one at a local shop and they did feel a little untrue. Medium rods did feel a little bit too bulky and stiff to be called a medium.
  13. Its actually kind of a sewer. Lots of run off from the on shore hotels and upper crust living on the edges of the lakes. Also the constant pleasure boating and hooting and hollering from drunken morons all over the lake during the summer could sour a retiree looking for peace and quiet in his golden years very quickly, and this isn't even bringing up party cove, which is something to behold. Pomme De Terre or Stockton are much better options. Fantastic place to settle. Lake Springfield which is just a 15 mile drive down 65, and is a very underrated fishery. Stockton and Pomme are about the same distance from you around there, with addition to great bass fishing you get great walleye fishing at Stockton and Musky fishing at Pomme.
  14. As far as soft plastics go, a curly tail grub on a 1/4 oz football or ballhead according to bottom structure is a pretty good bet. Other bottom fishing rigs which work are ned rigs and slider heads, depending if the fish want a standing presentation or one laying down. Of course skirted jigs work great as well any time of the year not just for spring.
  15. 10 wraps one way, 10 wraps back, then pass the tag end back through the loop 5 times before cinching.
  16. The combo I use for bitsy bug jigs and ned rigs, when I'm in my kayak is my favorite. 6'6" Fenwick HMG and a size 25 Quantum Smoke.
  17. Hayabusa Shooting Ball. You have to supply your own skirt, but its a great finesse style football jig that you can have just as much success throwing on a medium powered spinning rod, as you would a medium/heavy powered casting rod.
  18. The Savage Gear 4Play is a good cheap swimbait. I know its a glide but its extremely effective, and you don't need a broomstick rod to safely cast it.
  19. The Arkansas Shiner Easy Shiner is really the only swimbait I throw.
  20. Hi fellas I was wondering if any of you that tie your own hair jigs, have a better experience at actually catching fish with a darter head instead of a ball head? I keep hearing about how superior the Outkast Feider Fly is to a more traditional style ball head, with its darter style, but since I am entirely disinclined to spend that much money on a hair jig I was wondering if simply buying a few cheap Kalins Darter heads then just painting and tying them myself would be worth the money?
  21. I'm not a big believer in spending money on rods for movement and reaction baits. If no sensitivity is required then might as well go for budget. That's why I use Kastking Royale Legend rods and Abu Garcia Pro Max reels for both. 6'6" medium for crankbaits, spooks, and other small topwater, and a 7'3" Heavy for my froggin.
  22. He probably doesn't wanna be upsold, he probably wants to have his original question answered.
  23. A 3 inch Berkley Gulp Minnow is a pretty good trailer for a hair jig in certain situations. I have good luck with the combination of a Kalins hand tied or VMC Dominator hair jig(I also tie my own though) and that particular trailer during the winter. If you are going to add a trailer to a hair jig its very imperative that you use a trailer with minimal action. It the hair on the hair jig and how it is influenced by the fact that its in water and the movement ad action that the water gives each individual folicle of hair that make the jigs such a great cold weather lure.
  24. The way most people fish the texas rig, yes it would be considered a power technique, but I often times will texas rig worms and creature baits with 1/8th or 1/16th ounce bullet weights with a lightwire ewg hook, on 10 pound braid to a 8 pound flourocarbon leader on a medium powered spinning set up. Which is definitely finesse.
  25. Ball head, football head, and mushroom head jigs, with any sort of short stick bait, be it elaztech or traditional plastic threaded on to it, is a fantastic year round lure to throw for any river bound fisherman. Its a technique that should be in any river and creek fishermans tacklebox. Now throw in a little slider head and texas rigging action of same short stick bait, to avoid the frequent snagging that can come along with said technique, and you're just getting nasty good sir. Sexual if I may be so bold.
