  1. Get bit baits sells them in bulk for a discount. getbitbaits They use Mustad Ultra Point hooks.
  2. With a light line set up, in which I mean 6 pound test and under, I would say that carbon drag washer are a no go. They stick too much at the onset of a hookset to allow enough energy transfer from the fish to the rod and reel. Off shore fisherman tend to love it when they are fighting 10 pound reds, but they are usually, fighting those fish with 15 or 20 pound flourocarbon leaders, 20 pound braid, and big 40 or 50 size reels.
  3. I've always had a soft spot for the Spider Sliders with the bronze hook. A light to medium light rod with 6 pound test is always a good time.
  4. Big Bite Baits Chunks in Green Pumpkin and AL Craw are usually what I'm using from late September through early spring., but I'll also use a Zman TRD Craw too.
  5. .If it helps, I have never gone lighter than a 3/4 ounce sinker. The Carolina is for hard bottom with structure, and deep water. Also I ditch the swivel and use a peg it strip or carolina keeper to keep the weight in place, put a bead or brass clacker in front of the weight if I"m feeling freaky. The hell with the swivel, its just another break off risk, and it impedes(in my opinion) the ability to feel the bite. Also, you can put anything you want on a Carolina rig. That's the beauty of it. Spans the spectrum from anything with a lot of action(Rage Bug or Craw) to a do nothing bait(french fry, finesse worm).
  6. Just find a the closest thing to green pumpkin from Rustoleum, and these weights are fantastic.
  7. Its a known fact that Donkey meat is the most appetizing of all the Equids to the large face bass.
  8. For the extra 20 bucks they charge for them, you think they could afford to make them in the states now, but I digress. I really like these rods as well. The MedLight Xtra fast is the best darter head/split shot I've ever owned.
  9. For light line a simple clinch knot(fishermans knot) has never failed me in my life. For heavier line its either a Uni knot or the Palomar.
  10. These work great when fished as a tube with an tube insert jig as well.
  11. I think pretty much anything will work on the chatterbait. The blade is what draws in the fish, not the trailer. I've caught plenty with a Paca Craw on the back. Paddletails do add a more natural look though.
  12. I've got about 300 Dollars just in my 2 3/4" tube box.
  13. Ive recently been doing this as well. I've been experimenting with it and folding over the monofilament into a loop is great for elastek style plastics. Like so....
  14. The arkie style is really more of an open water casting jig. Its good in rocks too though.
  15. If its submerged grass, I think the best option for you would be a 1/4 ounce swim jig. Light enough to stay above the grass and not getting bogged down, but a model stout enough to pull the fish out after its made a b line back into the muck after the hook set. If its matted grass, a heavy grass jig would be your best choice.
  16. Yum Wooly Bug in the Crawdad color, or the Zman Trd Craw in Drews Craw on a split shot rig.
  17. When trash aren't pulling every bass over 2lbs out of the rivers on a stringer, then Ozarks streams, especially the Gasconade river and its tributaries are great Smallmouth Bass fisheries.
  18. Id be very sad about this if it were true. I buy a lot of tubes from them. They and Kalins were the only two companies I could ever find that made a laminated craw fish pattern tube. Kalins discontinued theirs and its gonna suck to have to pay the mark ups on Ebay for old stock if they in fact are calling it quits.
  19. I have 2 of the 30 size. Great reel, great drag, great everything really for the price point. Only problem I've ever had with them, is that the reel clicker tends to break and cause the reel to go silent. Still works great just can't hear the drag engage.
  20. If any of you want a cheaper head to rig tubes this way, the Big Bite Bait Wacky Rig jig head works great. Its entirely too big for its intended design. They should just change its name to stupid tube jig and keep the same price. It would immediately become the cheapest option in the market, and the Youtube fishing brohs would storm all available online markets and buy them out.
  21. Very much worth it. If you have good riverways and lakes around you suitable for fishing anyway. Also, a fishing kayak is still a kayak, and a fish and float can turn into a regular relax and float real quick.
  22. I like dragging skirted grubs on football heads, with a lighter wire hook.
  23. To you guys saying you have trouble with the dropshot. You can cast it like a regular presentation, but really is a vertical presentation for catching fish you have already got sniped out on your graph. Also, when that weight hits bottom, give it no action, dead stick it until that fish comes up and sucks it in. As with all finesse presentations, subtlety is the key. I've found that just the action you get from the small unnoticeable movements your hand imparts when trying to keep it still, adds enough action to get bit.
  24. Sounds like the price has to do with a combination of the Covid lock downs and Berkeley purposely keeping supply low so demand blows up. Then come the predatory re-salers that use bots to snap up all supply online as soon as they are stocked, and then mark up the price many multiples of the original, and you have a completely broken market.
  25. There is no safe way to pick up one of those Commons whatsoever. I'm hoping you got your hook and worm back intact, and the turtle was left intact as well. L
