I've never had much luck on buzz baits until recently. Most of my recent success including today has come on a 1/2 ounce Strike King sexy shad.
  2. Just doing some research right now but plan to get a new depth finder/GPS unit later this year. Just wanted some opinions from those of you who have them which you would prefer and why? I'm looking for something with lake mapping and side/down imaging.
  3. I work mon-fri so I mostly fish weekends but do get out a few evening during the week sometimes. I've fished the last 3 days and can tell a big difference between Saturday and today lake has been really beat up over the last 3 days.
  4. Anyone fished it lately? Haven't been out in about 2 months but plan to get back out this weekend. Just was wondering how the bite had been.
  5. Just wondering how early you guys who turkey hunt start scouting for the season?
  6. Yea I have been looking for a boater to link with but no luck. I may have to gamble 2 of the 5 tourneys are like 15-20 mins down the road from me so not worried so much about travel cost as I'm doing this for only 3 of them as I am getting to fish the tourneys.
  7. So I understand as a coangler if I sign up with a boater I get first priority. If I understand what I read right TBF members have the next priority and then they're basically taken in order they signed up. Am I correct?
  8. Any idea if they do a priority entry with BFL?
  9. My understanding is its still a draw but if you enter with a boater you will get priority to fish over the coangler who enters alone. Less likely to get put on a waiting list. I'm gonna be fishing as a coangler this year for first time. Still looking for a boater to get matched with. Really don't like the way they do that.
  10. Iaconelli does this some not aware of anyone else who does but I'm sure there's probably someone I don't know about
  11. Need a co-angler? I'm a co-angler looking for a boater for the 2013 BFL Mississippi Division.
  12. Spinnerbait, jig, crankbait was definetely the key for me today
  13. I'm gonna be fishing BFL for the first time this coming year. Excited especially since first tourney is on the lake I live on, Ross Barnett Reservoir. The launch point is only 20 minutes from my house .
  14. Both of the mentioned places on the Rez are great. I haven't been down to Pelahatchie Bay in a while but if you choose to go up river I would suggest fishing standing timber and lay downs. I've had success on recent trips on Strike King Sexy Shad crankbait, white spinnerbait and also on soft plastic Zoom lizards in black/chartreuse.
  15. Welcome to BR!
  16. The water will be muddied up. I have a lot of success on blue/black jigs and soft plastic worms or lizards with chartreuse tail after big rains. I'm gonna try to focus on points and other shallow areas of the lake that have been really wind blown as many times baitfish will be pushed into these places from the excessive wind.
  17. I actually own a boat and am out on the water a few days a week in it. It's only 15' foot w/55 and pretty old so won't be using it. While I do plan to purchase a new boat next summer I really just want to gain some experience and maybe learn from those more knowledgeable than myself before fishing as a boater so I'm thinking of going a couple of years as a co-angler. I live on Ross Barnett Reservoir and they always have at least one sometimes 2 BFL events on it every year. The launch they use in only 20 minutes from my house so have begun spending a lot of time learning that part of the lake. Some of the others aren't too far of a drive. One of my old fishing buddies from the local tourney scene is also considering this so we may travel together some.
  18. I'm planning on fishing the BFL Mississippi division next year as a coangler. I've fished some local open tourneys and club tourneys in the past and really enjoyed it. Any of you guys fished BFL? Good experience? Advice?
  19. Follow KVD and Ike's careers closely....my 2 favorite anglers glad to see they will both be in the Classic
  20. I mostly use Berkley Trilene 100% Florocarbon.
  21. I use Berkley Trilene 100% Florocarbon tungsten weights, Gamakatsu hooks, and just upgraded a couple of my reels with Shimano Curados.
  22. I'm interested in something more sensitive. So is the fast action the way to go? I have a pretty good understanding on power guess where I need more understanding is in the action. Fast, med fast, moderate etc
  23. What action rods do you guys recommend for soft plastics?
  24. One of the many benefits of living in Mississippi. I fish year around. Love fishing winter!
  25. This is not that uncommon especially if you fish public waters such as the one I do most of my fishing on. Things such as fishing pressure or a change in weather can really have an effect on this.
