Over the winter months I booked 3 day fishing trips on various lakes starting in early April. Did the same thing last year and had a blast, fishing all day and spending time with the wife. This year not so much. 70's all week and each time I've arrived at a given lake, a monster cold front arrives with us. Yet again this coming Thursday when we depart for the lake.......78* yesterday, 40's Thursday and lows into the 20's with gusty winds. No, I don't get mad but starting to think that I may have super natural powers and that I can actually dictate the weather. I'm going to test that theory as the days pass, something like this. Load my boat = wind picks up Throw in a baitcaster = temps plunge Add a spinning real = high winds, unseasonably cold. Drive to lake = unfishable conditions. And lastly ! Leisure day, get on Bass resources = unseasonably warm, calm and the wife wants me to spend all day with her shopping thrift shops. Ahhh life is good.

My only Abu has been a work horse and likely the first baitcaster I'd grab.....Orra sx. Sorry about your troubles.

Skipping flukes under over hangs and put on plenty of sunscreen.

Med heavy when a medium would suffice.....was my issue. Yep, lost 3 good fish in a row on 3/8 spinnerbait and switched to a med 6'10 rod and fish ended up in boat.

Live in coon country where they are heavily hunted and yet to here of anyone considering them as a delicacy. Lol Beautiful creatures nonetheless.

We're way behind last year's water temps with wind and cold fronts. I've had to really slow it down to catch anything. I watch the pond at the house and even the frogs are confused this year as they laid eggs and now hiding from the cold. Most of the fish I've caught have been on a Ned rig.

I've been fishing all over VA in the last 3 weeks but mostly western part of state. Water temps are well behind last year and so is my catch ratio. I believe you picked a great week to fish.

If I tie on an expensive bait, i simply don't cast in the direction of a pike or Musky......that's all I got to say about that.

Keep that rat away from the cats. We've had cats and dogs are entire life and dangling lures can turn into a nightmare......I know.

Throw nothing but Luck E Strike Jerkbaits and catch fish. Can't imagine that Megabass is $17 - $20 better. That said, even though Megabass is quite expensive, Suspending and top water Jerkbaits is what I consider longevity baits.....not easily lost.

For heavy duty applications you must go gas. Electric is convenient and I leave one hooked up year around for washing vehicles but when it comes to restoring decks and patios, I'm pulling a rope.

Have the speed Demon pro and a spinning reel from Kastking, no complaint. The Pro is 9.3:1 Been using the Speed Demon on a heavy action rod for frogs and 1oz jigs. In theory, the faster rate paired with heavy line will muscle fish out of junk.

Yeah, sensitive to lightning myself.

1st, love Roboworms. PB&G has been the biggest senko producer for me. A close 2nd has been cotton candy chartreuse.......this one particular clear lake I fish, that's all they will hit.

Just this past Friday, lost my best fish of the year. It actually jumped and shook a treble hook......it happens. To stiff a rod can work to a fishes advantage also.

All the lakes I fish are gin clear and the fish go after the WP.......but most of my fish this year have been on a Ned.
