Doesn't make sense to me, top water should be effective everywhere. Caught my best fish of the year so far on top, 50* water. Are you throwing buzzbaits, ploppers by chance? Lots of bass staple lands on top.

Hah! Like the additude. 90% of my spinnerbaits has a Colorado upfront and a willow behind but you'll be good in murky water with double Colorado. Slow vibration is key in murky water.....1/4 - 3/8 size. Don't be afraid to throw tight to the bank in murky water......black is where it's at.

Personally throw a lot of Neds in the gin clear waters I fish, they work but arouse quite a few dinks, I mean quite a few.

No rhyme or reason why but if I as much as tie on a chatterbait, the entire body of water I'm fishing shuts off. I've even tried to be stealth and sneak into a back of a cove and quietly tie one on.......bass know it and run. All other Zman tackle works fantastic.
