Trying to get back after 40 year Hiatus

Featured Replies

Hello, I used to love fishing when I was about age 9-13 on the Maumee River.  Zebco was my equipment and what my very nice uncle gave to me.  I caught plenty of drum, catfish, and some kind of very small brown bluegill looking fish; always was disappointed.  Once I waded into the rapids of the Maumee River for the walleye run in jeans and tennis shoes; all I managed to consistently catch were the waders of the fishermen in front of me, I caught plenty of them!  Thanks to my parents, I was always allowed either one subscription to Field and Stream, or Sports Afield. My 12 year old bucket list fish was a Musky... so many great magazine stories.  I will leave all my 100s of questions for the appropriate forums.  Thank you.

Welcome to BR. To help you figure out what hasn’t changed in 40 years, and more importantly what HAS changed… This is the place to be!!

Thank you for the welcomes.  I thought I would be asking 100s of questions, but the Search bar on this forum is very good (unlike other forums).  I'm sure I will have some. Thanks again.

Welcome to BR. The Maumee has always been a great walleye fishery.

Welcome back to the joy of fishing.  I took a long hiatus myself after all my rods and tackle was stolen out of the back of my truck just after leaving the service.  My kids got me back into it a little over a year ago and I'm wondering now why I ever stopped.

Welcome aboard! ??

A lot of what's changed is how companies hook-line-and-sink

fishermen to the latest gear. No wait...that tactic's been around

forever..... :D
