  1. Been doing quite well on top water once the water temps hit 50. This pic proves how fearless Bass are.
  2. I broke the entire handle off a reel fighting a fish, only once and it happened to be a......Qua****.
  3. Warmer water = longer growing season = bigger bass.
  4. No need to add weight to the Zinkerz as they have a progressive drop rate......my preferred " senko " in heavy cover.
  5. Convenient, just throw on back of truck and go and the fact that I fish mostly smaller electric only lakes. My biggest complaint as I've mentioned several times here is my casting accuracy has suffered as apposed to the big stable platform of a bass boat.
  6. I can also vouch for a windy spring. Love to fish as much as the next guy but excessive wind takes the enjoyment out of the way I like to fish. Wind is the #1 determining factor on what days I fish or what days I accomplish something around the house. Add waves on the big waters that some here fish, it can get sketchy.
  7. The shallower lake will warm up faster in the sunshine if you have that information.
  8. I like the term " spot burner " used above and had to laugh......every spot is getting BURNT today because everyone is fishing now. I waited over 2 hrs last week to fish my favorite pre-spawn section of lake and this was on a Wednesday morning. Lol
  9. Anything related to recreation has seen MUCH more demand than supply. We have a large local Outfitter that claims Covid whipped out his inventory of mtnbikes, E-bikes, Kayaks, hiking shoes, backpacks, etc. He is currently flooded with back orders. I'm also seeing many brand new RV's sitting in yards locally. At least those receiving the free money are certainly stimulating the economy.
  10. Price seems high from here. One sold locally with rebuilt 115 Chrysler engine and upholstery redone for $2400. I'm not looking but like to look.
  11. Most of the lakes I fish are electric only and under 200 acres. I rarely run out of juice with a 35 ah AGM.......but have fighting wind. My kayak is heavy and on occasion will carry a smaller 27 ah battery. 68 lbs, wow.
  12. Pre-spawn my 3 personal favorites are: Jerkbaits Spinnerbaits Jigs
  13. Excellent photo. Our Eagle population has " soared " over the last decade.
  14. That there is a BIG fish.
  15. I plan all my fishing endeavors around wind.....don't care about moon phases. That doesn't mean the moon has no effect but simply can't focus in the wind.
  16. Chartreuse with a chartreuse trailer won't even work in that water......stay home.
  17. And many lakes are personal favorites due to geographic location but may not be close to " best " , compared to states like Texas, California, Tennessee and many southern states.
  18. Nice Crappie. Once I catch one on a spinnerbait " happens often " I grab my Crappie jigs. They are a blast to catch.
  19. California lakes will no doubt win with their electoral supremacy ?.......but voted Sam Rayburn.
  20. In rivers, never pass up an eddie and wear polarized glasses and look for deeper pockets and ledges.
  21. I'm also 7 but need +3.00 readers to do it. ?
  22. I've fished for Crappie before but always found them in schools held up in submerged tree tops.
  23. So, launched boat this morning at local lake and make a b-line to favorite spot, after all, there was only 1 other vehicle in parking lot. Well wouldn't you know, there's an older gentleman slowly circling back and forth right where bass have consistently staged during pre-spawn. I watched him for 2 hrs circling at this hot spot so finally trolled up and asked him kindly what he was fishing for and he replied " trolling for Crappie ". First time I've heard or seen anyone troll for Crappie but he was relentless, still there an hour later after I talked to him, just circling and I only caught 1 LM elsewhere.
  24. Terrible terrible stuff. Lost my 93 yr old mom last August , my dad and bestfriend to cancer. In your case, praying for different outcome.
  25. Water temps play a role in lifespan. Growing up in the aquatic fish business......the higher the temps, the quicker the demise but growth rates are increased. Basically what was already said. Lol
