  1. If you arent tournament fishing ... good for any bait you move with the rod
  2. The 2000 weighs what a Nasci 3000 weighs
  3. I clean them whenever I regrease reels which is about 2 times a year. When I was using dark green braid cleaning had to be much more frequent as the coating seemed to rub off and attract dust.
  4. Yo Zuri Hybrid KVD Line and Lure TSI321 Mend-It
  5. "If you feel that it affects the rods performance, you can send it to our warranty department for inspection". Well that isnt very reassuring. If I were Daiwa I would return it as-is and bill you for shipping ...
  6. You sure its not just riveted? Seems like an odd place for a clip.
  7. I'll go against the crowd on this one. Upgrade them away. Learning about reels is going to cost you one way or another and it's much better to crack open a $40 reel and learn than to take a chance on something that isn't as easily replaced. In my opinion there's a couple of ways to go into it Level 1 (tune up) - Clean reel - Re-oil bearings with TSI321 - Regrease gears with Cals - Regrease drag with Cals Level 2 - All Level 1 plus - upgrade bearings to higher ABEC or ceramic - upgrade drag to carbon fiber Level 3 - All Level 1 and 2 plus - polish spools shaft ends as @Hammer 4 said - polish metal drag discs - polish inside of pinion gear - polish gear teeth As for bearings, it doesnt have to be expensive. Print out the Boca sheet to measure them and go wild. https://www.avidrc.com/product/8/metric-bearings/
  8. Ive heard the only real difference is a one piece body which makes servicing it yourself near impossible.
  9. Metal body, worm gear, carbon drag, I don't own a Stradic FK but from what I've heard this is essentially a rebranded one.
  10. Haven't fished the premier but the Ethos HD has been a good performer for me. I picked mine up for $40. If you are able to go to the store in person, I would suggest taking a few rods and scanning them. The Ethos have the barcode on the blank and some of the ones that were on sale can still be found at sale prices.
  11. I know I sound like a broken record but for about $15 more the Shimano Spheros is a much better reel in every way except weight.
  12. ^ In following the Bill Murphy advice I purchased a lot of 3/0 and #7 split shot. IMO this stuff works well for deeper water, but for shallow #4 is tough to beat.
  13. I know you said free doesn't count but Amazon sent me a TICA surf rod with a cracked insert, $200ish dollar rod. When I reached out to them they gave me a full refund and said keep it.
  14. For a second there I thought this was going to be our weekly Googan squad thread
  15. I use them because it makes swapping lures easier. I've never bought into the whole gives the lure more action thing.
  16. Maybe I missed it but are the ones with more * next to them supposed to be the better choices?
  17. For ease the blood knot can't be beat ... I don't retie leaders often enough to justify anything other than FG
  18. Like everyone's said, its gonna happen. Next time just give it a proper burial in a frying pan.
  19. If im fishing stocked trout im usually fishing a powerbait rig with tiny hooks on 2lb. 2lb gets more bites and if i snag i only lose a hook.
  20. Shimano makes me feel nice (good tolerances, QC is good even in the non-Japan models, feels like a higher quality product), but for me my Daiwas perform better ...
  21. A recent one for me has been finding "trot lines" which are really just a stick with fishing line with a hook tied to it and wrapped around a stick or dock piling ... most likely kids but still ... why!?!?!?
  22. $10 says he was looking for the spinning reel ... i say that because I did too ?
