Split Shot
Round split shot (no ears) pinched about 7-10 inches above the hook. 3/0 round offset worm hook. As long as you take care to pinch the split shot on centered and rig the bait straight, the shot without the ears won't twist your line too much.

Has any lure wowed you and retained its lofty position?
Slider rig definitely impressed me in terms of numbers. I use the 1/4 oz head flattened and trimmed as shown in the book on 4lb line.

Curado BFS up for pre-order at TW
The beginning of the end for the BFS guys ... sorry its gone mainstream

BFS? I Don't Get It
Honestly if you're on this forum you dont make sense to 99% of the general population. BFS guys are no different than the rest of us spending time, money, and energy catching fish in a relatively inefficient manner only to release them.

Shorter vs Longer rods sensitivity
Would all this complex math apply only to visible strikes or also to the tap tap which I most associate with bites. It seems the equations are based on movement of the rod tip when the tap tap may be more of a vibration?

Shorter vs Longer rods sensitivity
Its really not that difficult if you can find a rod builder who is good at calculus

Question for shimano users
Be careful about overdoing it. As @FishTank said, once or twice a year is plenty. I'll be curious to see how the K's hold up over the long LONG term after lots of opening for maintenance. I just cleaned mine yesterday and hadn't noticed that unlike the "I" series, the screws screw into the plastic side plate and not the aluminum frame.

How does everyone feel about Walmart one dollar spinner baits?
If time = money you just spent more than $1 on that spinnerbait. Just buy it and decide for yourself.

$75-$100 spinning reel
If you're sticking with Shimano, the Spheros is a huge step up from the Nasci for not much more. You upgrade to a threaded handle and a metal frame and worm gear.

does this rod exist?
... youre describing basically all rods in the walmart cage

What should I add to my arsenal?
A lot of people prefer light, moderate fast for drop shot, myself included. My light, mod fast gets used for dropshot and on occasion split shot rigs.

What should I add to my arsenal?
Agree with this assessment. Only thing I would add is that in addition to the Heavy action rod, give yourself a Medium/Mod casting rod as an option. For me that Med/Mod rod is used for smaller crankbaits and gets a good amount of use. As far as rods, if you go with the Heavy action I recommend the Lews Carbon Fire casting rod. Medium/moderate the lightning casting rod is great.

Time frame for a rigged up plastics.
All get removed at the end of the day and separated from the good stuff. Every week or other week torn stuff gets mend-it'd together.

Issues changing out split rings (Owner Hyper Wire)
Yall making me question if i should upgrade rings. My thought is my drag isn't set high enough to test the limits of a split ring. What's the big benefit?

You can tune lipless crankbaits too. Same process with tuning tool.

San Diego Jam Knot vs. Palomar Knot ?
Yeah there seems to be a lot to back up the SD jam being the superior knot, especially for braid.

Yo-Zuri Hybrid #12 lb : Favorite Knot ?
Take your pick with YZH. You can probably double overhand knot and be good. The line is super forgiving and break strength is well above stated.

Oiling a brand new Baitcasting reel
Spool it and test it out before cracking it open, especially if you dont have quality screwdrivers. Daiwas especially seem to use threadlocker which can lead to scratches during disassembly. Test it out first. If all is working well then oil as you please. If anything is wrong - noises, grinding, etc. warranty the reel if you can't immediately determine what the issue is and how to fix it.

Most versatile rod length?
6' 11" is a good length. Long enough to get good casting distance, short enough to not sacrifice accuracy. Youll be alright.

PowerPro through Titanium guides?
Yeah you should be fine. Ive been running powerpro on an american rodsmiths titanium guide rod.

Shimano Curado K Question
I have no idea. I was just told that if i wanted to convert a 6.3:1 or whatever to 5.0:1 many parts had to be swapped not just pinion and main gear.

Shimano Curado K Question
That reel on the bottom of that picture is a PG version which is a different reel from the standard Curado K above it. As I mentioned, parts are not interchangeable and per Shimano USA it has separate schematics which they don't even have available themselves yet ... or didnt 2 months ago.
