  1. It should have slight side-to-side play. Adjusting like a traditional brake system (setting spool tension knob to have lure drop slowly) will rob you of distance. You should see the same "auto correct" for lack of a better term, when casting as with the SV although to a lesser degree.
  2. I would caution against getting into the magforce brakes unless you're comfortable with reels as even swapping out the mag adjustment knob took a bit of effort. If you turn the brakes up to full does that work as it should? After using several Fuego CT's (same as Tat minus T wing), I am inclined to agree with @Russ E that the culprit is likely the lube. Even if you don't clean them, as a start I would try adding a drop of oil on them to see if it makes any difference.
  3. Never got to fish one but sure as hell wanted one ... so their marketing team has to get a lot of credit
  4. The best part is when you price check an item and find out its on clearance without ever being advertised
  5. Not good enough to check spelling on their products apparently ...
  6. Did you use PayPal with buyer protection? I hope you did
  7. Fishing time is limited for me and I typically only sneak fishing in while my daughter is at track practice from 6:30 am - 7:40 am or so. My goal during that time is to catch a limit (14"+) ... every once in a while I will, but on average I catch about 2 keepers and 3-4 dinks.
  8. Conquest or Stella. I haven't really ever felt I needed more for than I have for freshwater.
  9. Dont throw good money after bad. I was given one like that that I tried to use and it was nothing but issues. If your budget is $50 then save $10 more and get a Trion combo or another newer combo from a reputable company. https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/pflueger-trion-spinning-combo
  10. yeah, either way 6 years is more than enough time to get the hang of it
  11. Whats the weather like for you right now? On some reels with the bearing in plastic cage type anti reverse bearings, the anti reverse will fail in cold temps (40 or lower). This is fixed by cleaning and adding oil only by swabbing the metal cylinder the bearings ride on. Although it sounds like there are bigger problems at this point ...
  12. This may be of interest to anyone with high school/college aged children "As many of the state and federal natural resource managers near retirement age, there will be a need to fill vacant positions with qualified individuals who understand and have a passion for sport fishing. To ensure that a pool of well-trained applicants is available for employers to choose from, Shimano and the B.A.S.S. Nation (BN), are offering $1,000 college scholarships in 2020 for students seeking a degree in a natural resource field. This award will be made directly to the student and not the student's educational institution, and can be used for tuition, textbooks or living expenses." https://fish.shimano.com/content/dam/shimanosnaffish/pdf/Shimano-B.A.S.S. College Scholarship Application June 15 2020.pdf
  13. If you file your taxes with H&R Block you can get your refund early. Technically its a "refund advance" so like a loan but hey who cares. YW. Too bad these guys are gone
  14. I had the same thing and was able to fix it by tightening the cast control knob to where there was minimal play prior to spooling the reel.
  15. Use a stop and go retrieve allowing the lure to rise on the pauses or upsize your line to 15lb to keep it running shallower above the grass. You could also just reel it back in extra slow but the deflection factor would be lost. This is a good starter kit IMO https://www.amazon.com/LUCKY-CRAFT-Special-Pack-Colors/dp/B082DQST55/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=lc+square+bill&qid=1611342592&sr=8-1
  16. Taxas Tackle or nothing
  17. You said its a middle guide. If all you want is to get as much fishing out of it as possible with minimal repair, why not just kill the guide altogether? If its just a running guide I can't see it having too drastic an impact in the short term.
  18. Ooooooooooooooooooooooo hai
  19. Full cork grips. That is all.
  20. Put a heavy weight on the end and go around feeling the bottom until you find hard structure. As DVT mentioned, try fan casting to cover the most area. Once you locate hard bottom or structure, keep fishing those spots with different lures. If you simply want to get the parallel casting out of your system, throw a Rapala Floater F7. If there are fish there they will find it.
  21. Tread carefully ... apparently you only have a 1/16 oz margin of error on your lures ?
  22. BPS spring classic. Deals are so-so on lures. *usually in March but it was April this last year
  23. I remove split rings and use speed clips on all crankbaits and have gone up to 6xd and have never had an issue. At the first sign of any damage/change, the speed clip gets tossed.
  24. I caught a bass this morning that swam back and jumped onto dry land as soon as it was released ... I guess the water was too cold ?
