  1. My Fishmas box arrived here today and will be opened Fishmas day. My package will be delivered by Weds.
  2. The recurring theme here seems to be throwing more jigs and I'm in the same boat. 2021 goal will be to have the discipline to target bigger fish as opposed to fishing for bites/numbers and hoping for bigger fish.
  3. You'll probably need more bobber stops than is ideal. If that's your desired set up then step up to Carolina Keepers. Although I will say that personally I don't like them as my line typically breaks at the Keeper vs the hook.
  4. I believe in most tournaments pork is the exception to disallowing the use of prepared baits. Although I do agree that its interesting people look down on live bait/prepared bait but don't hesitate to use pork trailers.
  5. No, in fact Carolina Keepers are a sort of modified bobber stop. That set up you are describing with a sparsely tied gnat fly is my preferred panfish rig.
  6. I dont believe the SLX DC has x-ship if it makes a difference ...
  7. I hadn't seen one of these. I saw one on the auction site just now. Is the line capacity really 125yd/12lb for a 300 sized reel?
  8. That's interesting. Several websites list them but don't allow you to purchase online. I wonder why ... https://www.tackledirect.com/daiwa-kage-bass-casting-rods.html
  9. I primarily fish from shore and am seriously considering giving away the 4 blade baits I own to the local kids. I personally have never had any luck with them beyond snagging a fish once. That said, I never threw them often to begin with ...
  10. I have to agree with @WRB that there must be a magic formula to the vibrations a spinnerbait gives off relative to its size and speed to make it more than just a reaction bait.
  11. Im a big fan of that vintage of All Star rods. Its interesting in that picture you also have a Castaway rod. I bought into the hype and purchased a couple of Houston made ones and was disappointed as both felt fairly tip heavy to me.
  12. The hard plastic butt cap is usually present on made in Houston All Star rods that do not have "made in Houston" written on them. I don't believe any foam butt cap All Stars are made in Houston/US.
  13. A gallon of KVD line and lure
  14. Same here only problem is that shipping is a bit steep for 1 jar and Amazon only has green. I may try the Salty Frog brand selling on the auction site. Unless there's something besides nostalgia that makes the Josh product better ...
  15. Ive never fished pork but I have some Fat Cow trailers headed my way soon. We'll see how those do but I have a feeling I'll eventually be trying pork ...
  16. Are they bringing them back??? https://www.amazon.com/Pork-Frog-Green-Spot-4-pack/dp/B00144A9SE/ref=lp_7525606011_1_1?srs=7525606011&ie=UTF8&qid=1608046178&sr=8-1
  17. In b4 WRB schools us on the use of jigs for big bass. I'm interested to see if he recommends something other than jigs though ...
  18. Anyone tried the Salty Frog pork trailers popping up on the auction site?
  19. Mend-it or for plastics it doesnt work on, the ol lighter
  20. Similar experience. Most effective was casting beyond weeds, reeling up to weeds quickly, letting it rise and then bringing it over the weed tops slowly. If you dont have a copy yet, I highly recommend the book Joe Bucher's Crankbait Secrets: The First Complete Guide to Fishing With Crankbaits. A member here recommended it and IMO its the best bass fishing book I have read in terms of depth and detail on a specific technique.
  21. Bringing this thread back. @WRB I notice that you've recommended punisher hair jigs in the past. Not sure if I am looking at the wrong website but these show "craft hair" in the description. Would these still be the jigs you recommend, or are there better options out there? https://punisherlures.com/products/the-punisher-jig
  22. Not at all, all Costa products are good IMO. But some people find polycarbonate lenses unacceptable.
  23. Just an FYI those are "P"s so they arent Costa glass, theyre poly.
  24. I know by this point people probably think I work for Solarbat, but I cant speak highly enough of their glasses for the price. https://www.solarbat.com/collections/pros-and-heroes As far as colors. Green or gray for fishing (green highlights greens, gray stays true), copper/amber/brown for driving as it makes those brake lights show up better.
  25. I've never ordered a part from them for a reel that is still available on the website. Always have to do the search, copy/paste.
