  1. ^ in my experience if youre dealing with felt drags they are almost impossible to clean without swelling them and creating a jerky drag. Im sure DVT has a method for these but I haven't found it.
  2. I doubt anglers have any real input. I always picture the transaction going something like this Lure Company: "Hey pro angler, can we slap your name on a bait?" Pro Angler: "Sure, how much are you paying me?" Lure Company: "X amt of dollars" Pro Angler: "Alright, I'm in ... what type of lure is it by the way?" Lure Company: "A crankbait" Pro Angler: "k ... kewl. What color?" Lure Company: "Well we got a whole lot of blue paint left over from the last run of baits so probably mystic ice" Pro Angler: "neato"
  3. Anyone have any experience with these rods? Thinking about picking up the 7' med. "Stellar Lite Fast Taper rods are designed for the increased popularity of casting light plastic baits with or without jig heads. They are also great for casting light lures and bucktails when a fast, long cast is desired. We use Fuji® Concept guides which are a perfect match for these actions. These actions also work well for kayak fishing where casting without shifting body weight is important." https://www.starfishingtackle.com/stellar-lite-spinning-fast-taper
  4. How exactly is a rainbow made? How exactly does a sun set? How exactly does a posi-trac rear-end on a Plymouth work?
  5. Tatula CT also offers a 5.5:1 gear ratio while the Fuego CT does not.
  6. "that was probably just a rock ..."
  7. Bought lots of line off Amazon Yo Zuri Hybrid, Sufix 832, P Line (various), Big Game, PowerPro braid. The only dud was the PowerPro which appeared to be a fake. Since it was sold by Amazon, they issued full refund no return necessary. You really can't go wrong on Amazon though as long as its sold by and shipped by Amazon. The free shipping also makes all the difference when buying single spools. Any sales on Tackle Warehouse will be offset by the shipping unless you plan on spending more than $50. As to the "best" line, they have it all basically so its up to you as far as what you want/are willing to spend. I run Yo Zuri Hybrid for the most part bc I find its a good compromise at its price point. But I will be trying some Sunline Shooter and Sniper in the near future.
  8. Don't worry guys, it will all be Amazon soon. And since they allow 3rd party sellers there's no danger in confusing it with a monopoly.
  9. That seems to be what everyone says but I haven't come across a braid backlash I can't free by simply pulling on it hard enough. Mono and copoly on the other hand I've had to cut several times.
  10. The handle looks like a standard handle. Screwdriver for the retainer then socket for the hex nut.
  11. yeah your Shimano has X-ship bearings .... but are dey hyper tho? seriously though, why is everything now hyper? was someone playing Street Fighter II when they named stuff?
  12. Finally near a computer. Big thanks to @fishballer06 for the awesome Fishmas present. Excited to throw the 1.5 in a color I don't have and the football jig looks great!
  13. The price of the goodies is built in. At the end of the day the bearings are still Chinese.
  14. ***IT IS A SCAM STAY AWAY *** @TMB contact bank
  15. A good reel for a good cause. You should be fine fishing those lures with that reel. At 6.8:1 its faster than your average 6.3:1 or 6.2:1 reel. That rod should pair nicely and should work well for the lures you plan on throwing.
  16. Amazon showing will be back in stock in March. In my estimation they will ramp up production only to find out initial demand was much higher than ongoing demand ... then we get some sweet sales.
  17. @davkoz ***THIS IS A KNOWN SCAM COMPANY. CONTACT BANK/CC COMPANY NOW*** https://www.alanhawk.com/blog/zmb.html
  18. The SLX does not appear to have X-Ship. Your post made me wonder about this and what I found is that the SLX shares a drive gear (BNT4869) with the "I" series Curados/Citicas but not a pinion gear. SLX's non X-Ship pinion gear, too short for bearing Curado I's longer X-Ship pinion gear for the bearing
  19. Yeah this is probably a scam ... they talk all scam like "In selling products, we always make sure that the products we sell are the products of choice. and we always provide the right advice for your needs"
  20. So when I was about 5 years old my mother took my twin and I to a park shortly after it had rained. I saw tadpoles which in my mind were fish and I begged and begged her to go back bc i was going to "catch them". She took me back but the ground had dried and I was super disappointed. Growing up without a dad, I never really go the opportunity to fish although our family did have an old fishing pole. Fishing was sorta outta mind but remained something I wanted to do so when myself and a couple of friends decided to go camping for Thanksgiving break when I was a sophomore, I broung along my fishing rod. Long story short, none of us had a drivers license and we were escorted by about 6 police cars to my friends girlfriends house ... so again, no fishing. My mother started teaching me how to drive the next year and one day my twin saw an ad in the newspaper for a catfish pay lake that was about an hour away. I didn't yet have my license or a car but we decided to go anyway. We woke up around 4:30 am and pushed the car out of the driveway. First stop was walmart where we bought a couple of Zebco Rhino spincast combos. Then we were on our way. We got to the pay lake before it opened and had to wait. We go to see the sunrise and the anticipation was killing me. They finally let us in and we had no idea how to fish (the only guidance I had was from one of those laminated "how to catfish" sheets). We got to fishing and weren't catching a thing. Neither was anyone else. Then, as my twin describes it, "from the heavens descended an 18-wheeler which parked right next to the small pond. A man who stood no shorter than 8 foot tall got out and connected a hose about 2 feet in diameter and proceeded to dump about 3 tons of fish in the pond". My twin and I caught our limit as well as our due punishment when we returned home that day. Even though I rarely catfish anymore, that was the start of a love for fishing for me.
  21. Same reaction here. Best bet is amazon to save on shipping (they only carry the green color)
