  1. The "PG" 5:1 or so ratio of the Curado is a completely different reel from the standard Curado K despite being the same size. Parts are not interchangeable when it comes to drag stack and anti reverse. The PG version was also released like 2 years after the standard and HG models were released which could be the reason some sellers list it separately.
  2. Hot or cold, wet or dry, these have served me well. They make 2 versions, the Goretex (GTX) is the good one. Adidas outdoor Men's Terrex AX3 GTX Hiking Boot
  3. That knob is very tight on mine regardless of setting.
  4. Place reel in freezer for an hour then try to spin handle backwards. My bet is it spins backwards. Culprit with these things is usually grease freezing/becoming to stiff in the AR bearing. Braid slippage tends to be fairly noticeable.
  5. I recently picked up a Penn Battalion II as well as a Tica Dolphin. The Dolphin seems better suited for lures and I would say is probably a better option if youre going to use it for freshwater as well. I got the 2pc 8' M rated for 1/2 - 2oz. If youre able to do one-piece, Star rods are excellent. Another solid option is the Tsunami airwaves ... lots of good reviews on those.
  6. Unless you keep your children off youtube completely theyre gonna find naked yoga sooner or later ...
  7. If only there were a survey option for this ...
  8. Never used it as in you backreel all the time? Or never used it as in its on all the time and you use the drag vs backreeling?
  9. Im with @Team9nine on this one. While the spool portion the line lays on will vary in diameter, the ends of the spool typically do not vary much if any. Proof of this is that many reels will share the same body with only the spool changing. Therefore, filling a narrow spool within 1/8" of the lip of the spool and filling a wide spool within 1/8" of the lip of the spool will yield roughly the same overall diameter.
  10. They know exactly who their audience is ... all that matters is the bottom line right?
  11. Received a bunch with bulk plastics orders. Never cared for them in any sizes.
  12. I will say their price match is great. I've used that quite a bit including for the purchase of a couple of Curado K's with BPS gift cards two years ago.
  13. Ok back to the topic ... Maybe you just got an exceptionally good Lews reel. I have to say that exact Lews Wally Marshal reel in that size is probably the worst feeling new reel I've ever handled.
  14. Look at the size of the reel. It's meant for 4lb line, 6lb tops. If you're twisting the frame with those pressures, Lew's has bigger issues.
  15. At that size of reel you're missing out of much of the advantages other reels gain from it. Example, felt drag is arguably better at very light settings than carbon fiber drag. Threaded handle vs hex-through (or whatever its called) handle doesn't matter at the light drag settings this will be used at. Spool size is also likely too small to be significantly affected by differences in design and weight savings will be minimal to none since the reel weighs nothing. Longevity is likely all you'll really gain here.
  16. For baitcasters I prefer a thicker grease like Cals Tan. For spinning reels, I use Yamalube.
  17. It will likely also hurt casting distance. Its also important to remember that spool diameter itself makes up a significant portion of the IPT on a reel. a half filled spool ≠ half the IPT
  18. Might also be worth a shot to PM sellers on the auction site to see if they will sell you the box alone. Many are willing to.
  19. are you fishing for pomps with lures or throwing bait? I would honestly get a cheaper rod for slinging bait. The saltwater guys seem pretty happy with the ugly sticks and those wont break the bank.
  20. Hes had nearly 2 years to completely remove that backlash
  21. Just try spinning it backwards by actually turning the handle backwards. Then warm it up lightly with just your hands or a hair dryer on low setting and try again.
  22. Does it always do it? First step is to determine what is causing it. I would wager that its probably grease getting cold and solid. To test, put reel in freezer for a bit then try again. It should spin backwards. Then warm up the reel and try to spin it backwards. It should no longer spin backwards. If thats what you find then just take out the AR and its sleeve, clean it and oil it with a light film of oil (not even a drop). If it slips both cold and warm then you need a new AR bearing.
  23. Shimano Spheros are a great buy they are somewhat SW safe - $115 vs Nasci $100
