  1. The price on the Tat200 is great though ... I might have to jump on that
  2. Not only is he wearing a mask, he puts a mask on every fish he catches to make sure they dont catch the COVID. The fish are so grateful theyll usually float up to say thanks after a couple of minutes.
  3. Agreed, I've noticed the mods catch a lot of flak on other forums but thanks to them this isn't the cesspool some of the other forums are
  4. By smaller do you mean a standard handle or an aftermarket smaller handle (not sure if these exist)? In either case, I myself don't make handle changes. Ill swap gears before switching handles.
  5. Im gonna need you to do a write up on casting technique as I'd be nowhere near that
  6. Thats a pretty sweet deal ... includes braid and a crankbait.
  7. I have an older cherrywood with even cheaper construction than the HD version which has worked great. The cheap components make it a super light rod thats great for dropshotting. I tried the HD and its heavier than necessary and has lost the sensitivity of older models.
  8. I have a couple of Fuego CTs and ill keep buying them if I see them on sale ($70 or less). IMO the best reel at its price point and one of the few reels to rival the cost:value ratio of the curado Es. My fuegos arent as smooth as the Shimanos but something about them just feels right to me.
  9. My only suggestion is to read up on the hook removal articles here as they will help immensely. In fact i hooked one fairly deep today but by going in through the gills I was able to get the fish back in the water rather quickly with minimum of damage.
  10. Back in Ascarete lake in El Paso there were a couple of very VERY slow years for bass fishing. To the point people were catching more catfish than bass when throwing lures. It was kind of assumed that there weren't too many bass in the lake or that they had been fished out. Then, a pretty rough algae bloom hit killing off a ton of fish. To everyones surprise, the dead bass were plentiful.
  11. Thanks. Ill be trying the copoly if the lighter weight doesnt work. As for the Carolina Keepers I've had enough bad experiences with them to keep me from trying them again, but I may try what you described with a couple of sinker pegs.
  12. I was reading a Homer Circle book today and got to a section where he talked about hooksets and explained that the best way to set the hook is as follows "With your left hand on the foregrip and your right hand on the butt, quickly pull toward you with the left hand and push away with the right" I tried it a couple of times playing around with a rod and it seems this method does indeed give you far greater speed than you could otherwise achieve so I was wondering if anyone here actually uses or has tried this type of hookset.
  13. I dont use this for fishing but for storing dremel bits. I feel like it may suit your needs https://www.harborfreight.com/24-container-storage-box-90243.html
  14. Thanks. In my search of a mojo weight, i came across these. I will be downsizing my weight tomorrow to see if it makes a difference then switching to 20lb copoly instead of braid Monday. If neither of those two things yield results, ill be throwing this monstrosity https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CW27FQ2/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_1?smid=A36SD7911PNM9J&psc=1
  15. I had some success earlier on with deep diving crankbaits but they only seem to take these when the water is moving. When its still, ive had no success. I also tried throwing a drop shot and that was worse with hang ups. I may try a pegged texas rig to see if i have any luck with that.
  16. The sinking Pins minnow has been great on trout the few times ive fished it.
  17. Are you catching bass where these panfish are?
  18. Meant to say copoly leader. My mistake.
  19. ^ good scales I believe on the more modern Chatillon scales, the 12lb scale has marks that are in 1/8 lbs increments while the other scales have 1/4 lbs increments.
  20. Been throwing a Carolina rig lately with good success but I can't keep myself from getting the weight hung up on the chunk rock. I have been using 40lb Sufix 832 and a 1/2 oz egg sinker, plastic bead, then swivel to 15 lb copoly leader. The hang ups have not been occurring on the initial drop but on the retrieve. I am using a slow drag retrieve. The past 2 days ive left lead and some braid down in the water so any assistance in helping me fix this is appreciated.
  21. I fully trust DVT but hope that my results in switching help me gain some distance ... i got a new spool of 10lb yzh and a new curado k spool headed my way to downsize from 15lb
  22. did you adjust your brakes any?
  23. Yeah I carry around a Leatherman Squirt (pliers version) on my keychain and it really comes in handy when i forget my lure tuner or boomerang tool.
  24. Bottom bouncing lures (texas rigs, jigs, etc.) are moved by the rod. Here a faster reel ratio is welcome. Free running lures (crankbaits, spinnerbaits, etc.) are moved by the reel. Here the reel ratio will determine how long the lure remains in the strike zone and what action it has.
