Selecting rods. $$ vs need.
irod genesis II 6'9 is 3.2 ounces and the 7'11 punching rod is 5.8 ounces. not quite $139 but they're $150

Looking for opinions on finesse rods
I was trying to do him a favor letting him know he could get 3 instead of 1 lol. They are great rods, especially for 150 bucks

Rod power and action for chatterbaits
mh/f 7'1. I use a st croix or irod genesis 2 if fishing sparse grass or fairly open water. if im fishing heavy cover or thicker grass i step it up to 7'6 mh to rip the grass better. 15 lb sunline fc assassin has always treated me well

wow what a few hours on tuesday afternoon! decided to go out for 3 hours after work and put it on em! had a 5.2 smallie and a largemouth just under 5. took my retired neighbor with me and the pic with the little fish is the only one he managed to boat. had to hold it for comparison LOL "you vs the guy she told you not to worry about"

Zman Stealth Blade now in stock
What's the word on these guys? I'm sure i'll give in and get a couple sooner or later but is it going to be more effective than a scrounger? how does the plastic do around grass? So many questions

What is your favorite bait/worm
zman green pumpkin finesse wormz on 3/16th shaky head. once we move into winter it will be a TRD but those two catch an absurd amount of fish in my boat

What is your take on the ideal casting rod for for max distance?
i've tried scanning the entire convo to see what you are wanting to throw? the answer will be different for just about every type of lure you tie on. in general if you are throwing something 3/8-3/4 oz any medium heavy is going to launch it pretty well. The longer the rod the more distance. The lighter the line you throw, the more distance(be careful! lighter line will backlash way easier than 15 lb flouro) 7'6 is plenty of rod

man i think every year okay it will be a little better this year, going to try some new stuff its gonna work cant wait to take everyones money. then typically by midweek the first week of august im complaining about there not being any fish in the entire lake. next year i'm going to fish all of my classic qualifiers early so i can take off of august instead of making weekly donations lol

Some advice for getting skunked.
my piece of advice to new anglers (especially here in the south) is if you enjoy fishing in August and September, you're going to absolutely love it the other 10 months of the year. Do something different. doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result rarely if ever works. You can never get too shallow for largemouth, especially in the early Fall. Get good with the fairy wands and develop a good rotation between shaky head, neko/wacky, ned, drop shot. If you have those 4 tied on you will ALWAYS catch at least one fish

Please Help!! Bryson City, NC.
next time you go up there go out after dark and throw a jitterbug if you are fishing on fontana. get as close to water as you can and parallel it down the bank back to you. fontana is one of the best night fishing topwater lakes in the country

How do I fish for great lake smallies in the summer?
you aint lying! go out after dark and shine a spot light anywhere around you and bait explodes. ive been catching most of my good ones flipping a jig in grass trying to find fish posted up ambushing

Fishing courtesy....
Happens every trip out on Chickamauga. Had a boat pull probably 20 yards from me and start going the same direction. Threw a 3/4oz one knocker past his boat and he got the point and hustled on out of there. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt MOST of the time. Then we go to Fort Loudoun(worst lake in the area, extremely pressured, TONS of recreational boats with drunk college kids & oblivious homeowners) and I had found a rock pile on a ledge of old river channel--ive been fishing this lake weekly for 20 years and have NEVER seen anyone on this spot. I always try to keep fish down if someone is near but some kids pulled up, watched me boat a couple, hit waypoint on their depthfinder and moved on...I honestly think that made me more mad than when someone oblivious to their surroundings pulls too close

Middle School Fishing Club
Gotcha. Probably quite a few less formalities in that situation, i'm sure you will still have to have some type of waiver but i would talk to some of the other club coaches/leaders(4h, chess club, deca, etc)

Middle School Fishing Club
hey man it's huge here in east tennessee. There isn't a middle school team specifically here, the middle schoolers are on the high school team. Most of the tourney's have high school then a junior division. Here's a quick rule sheet that we use

Knowing Bass: The Scientific Approach to Catching More Fish
what he said--let us also not forget about how big of a difference LOCATION makes. Take a look at smallmouth. I've taken several guys who have moved down south from up north and i more or less tell them to throw everything they know out the window. Same species, a lot of the time same forage(minus the goby's here) and completely different fish. The structure they relate to is different, the depths they are located at any given time of year are different, the baits they consistently bite are different, the type of weather they consistently eat better in is different. The book is probably helpful in some ways, but I would say going to your local tackle shop & checking out the items that are regularly sold out(not during a pandemic) would be more beneficial when it comes to actually putting fish in the boat

Pflueger Supreme Spinning Reel
great reels. zero issues out of them. the one on the st croix is a little more than 5 years old, the one on the genesis is maybe a year. regular president is also a very solid choice if you want to save about 30 bucks.
