  1. Whoever dies with the most lures, wins!!!
  2. I don't have the answer for you but have you seen the website "Rocky Ledge Tackle" I see they offer a lead free pewter lipped jig head.
  3. Welcome to the fold! A group of enablers we be. We all have a monkey on our backs and some of us hold up go rillas. Tell us about your collection and addiction ?
  4. What's the difference in the u tail and u tale by Zoom? At first I figured it was better than salt vs super salt but it is not. Winter is rough...
  5. Yessir! Too good of a deal to pass up. Guess I've bought half a dozen so far during the winter and several weeks ago I managed to get one wet. That Rage Menace trailer looks amazing coming through the water. I am only seeing 3 colors here. I took notice of the Luck E Strike bladed jig and spinnerbaits carried there too. I would like to hear from anyone that has used them and what their opinion is. My only connection to the company is the RC jerkbait and some of their cranks.
  6. Today was an absolutely no lure buying day. I just had go get some groceries but the monkey was there and I bought 2 Strike King swimming jigs in green pumpkin and white with rage menace trailers. Next weekend though I'm gonna turn the monkey loose!!!!
  7. I would like to try one of those bass pro shops tornado spinnerbaits. I've never seen one in person but I d recall it has an oddly made blade and was supposed to been a fish getter.
  8. Throw it out, reel it in... Plop plop plop plop plop plop plop plop plop... Whoppin & ploppin
  9. I finally happened upon some Tackle HD 5" Hellgrammites today! Got a bag of green pumpkin and a bag of blood shot. Really impressed with what I see while on dry land, bet they'll catch small jaws! Also was pushed by bait monkey to buy 2 packs of the trout magnet 3" hellgrammites, which is teeny sized in black. Then added a Rapala DT-6 in Bruised... It's been a good day for me and monk monk
  10. @A-Jay how did the original Sureset hooks work out for you on these lures back in the day? I recall you did try the DT lures too. The majority of mine are still Sureset equipped. I recall the DT did not work out for you but what was your thoughts on this style rear treble? Thanks.
  11. A bait man bag! What comes in the usual monthly bag and how much?
  12. Out of approx 5,000 hard baits I have probably a thousand still in the packs 80% has never been wet lol. The color called Smoky Joe in the Bomber Long A has been real good to me over the years and I buy that color whenever I come across it so there is like half a dozen of those unopened and any other lures that have been lucky for me is hoarded. My fishing buddy now in his 70's taught me from his lifetime of fishing is that if you like a particular lure to buy as many you can afford!
  13. I opened a crankbait box the other day and was surprised to find a new never fished size 07 subwalk misplaced with cranks. I've no idea when or where I bought it but glad to see it and it will be thrown next time I get to go fishing. Must be from 10 or so year ago during my skitterwalk spree. Looking online the size 07 is still available in the saltwater series. That hot olive color is speaking to me loudly! I was surprised at how expensive these lures are as I am accustomed to $6-$8 husky jerks and dt's. Online these seem to be in the $12 range.
  14. If the bites just right though you'll think you're fishing in para-para-paradise ?
  15. @WRB when you're ripping a double prop lure are you ripping it 20-30 inches and pausing or just continuing to rip along? @A-Jay what is your smallest sized popper you prefer? What material tied on the rear treble?
  16. I bought a couple walk the dog style lures by Fred Arbogast called " Phreds Phydeax" (Fred's Fido) and I am a sucker for walk the dog lures but as much as I enjoy working that lure and watching its beautiful glides it has never been attacked by old fish face! Has anyone else here got any of those lures?
  17. I'm sitting here thinking how much I love throw all the different types of topwater lures and how few fish I've caught using certain styles of lures. Last summer I was using a Berkley popper, I had waded to a known musky and smallmouth spot of mine and I threw the popper about 5 times I can remember how well the Berkley threw water, very aggressive popping and action I thought. After my 5th cast to the little drain that ran Into the river my fishing buddy made it up to where I was and threw the whopper plopper and within 5 seconds the musky hit. All my casts had been on top of that fish and he must have been interested in the popper but would not take. It could of been the more aggressive action of the whopper plopper or its sound but with bass overall is your most successful topwater action subtle or aggressive? Poppers? Spook style? Etc... it it blows my mind to see how aggressive lures are fished for predatory fish in the Amazon. Has anyone ever fished a lure that way and caught greenies and brownies?
  18. I've heard about all I can take! I'm gonna go lure shopping tomorrow...
  19. I have people say to me that I shouldn't need or want a lure with the variety I have. I am always amazed at that comment. I often reply to them what I have is only a start. Do any of you feel that way? No I don't use all my lures but I feel I'll never know when I'll want to use a certain technique and what size-color-brand-depth I may need so therefore I continue to rub the monkeys belly!!!
  20. I have had my eye on the Anthrax lure for the last couple years and just haven't ran up on one in person. The first thought is WTH am I looking at. It's an upside down lure. That aspects makes me want to buy it just because it's different when compared to any of my other lures. So is it a twitch on surface bait or a rip bait or wake bait or jus crank it in? Other than its unique look is it a favorite of anyone here? Thoughts? Opinions? Hopefully someone can post us a picture of the lure.
  21. Don't wanna quit, ain't gonna quit! I like that spreadsheet idea though.
  22. Lure net has 14 flavors available
  23. Hybrid bass and stripers love chicken liver. I've caught LM bass on them too setting brush hooks for turtle. Must been a hungry bass but it has happened.
  24. @BoatSquirrel and another good maker is Sam Griffin. The man must had 30 different top water models most with props on them. I have 5 or 6 different models by him in several colors in each style. Old school classics that will work just as good today. And yes I have some of the Gilmores too, I love the old models with glitter added on top of the paint!
  25. Tackle organization and storage is a lifelong fight. The battles are many but I fear the war in the long run is lost!! ?
