  1. Tonight's lure is brought to you by Shakespeare. It is the Lucky Dog model. I'd guess this lure is from the 1960's and it is pristine in condition as if it were made today.
  2. An interesting side note is a white Bomber similar to the 2nd row, 1st lure in the pic caught the World Record Smallmouth in 1955.
  3. Spooks will give you a headache for sure. You can get a 2 treble hook or 3 treble hook model. Normal rattles or one knockers both in a saltwater or freshwater version. The Super Spook is available in a 3/4oz, 7/8oz or the 1oz XT model with saltwater hardware. The Super in a 5" 7/8oz size and Super jr 3.5" 1/2oz also has a feathered treble option if you please. The Spook one knocker and Rattlin Spook also comes equipped with Mustad Triple Grips, the only models that come with these premium hooks. The Zara has the 2 hooks with the old screw mounted hardware that folks like to take loose and add split rings to it. Then there is the Chug'n Spook 1oz and Chug'n Spook Jr 1/2oz. Fun huh? There is also a Rattlin Spook 4.5" 3/4oz containing tungsten bb's for added volume. Then you can go smaller with a Zara Puppy 3" 1/4oz. As well as a prop on both ends model called the Wounded Spook. Discontinued but still on the auction is the Swayback Spook and a couple more vintage varieties even some called Heddon Spooks but not resembling the current form as we see them in store. Lol It is also interesting to note that the full size (4.5-5") models come with either 1/0, #2 or #4 hooks depending on model.
  4. Just curious if any of the members here are familiar with this mouse lure? It is a Blimps lure co. Mr Mouse. He comes across the topwater with his head whoppin n ploppin and he puts out a squeak during the rotation better than any aged buzzbait you've ever used. And yes they do catch fish! They were first put out for sale 50 year ago and continued into the '90's. If if you have an old or unique lure post us a pic on this thread and let's see and hear about it!
  5. The school of Sammies was in today's mail and then to fan the flames I stopped by the tackle store for extra pack senkos and a tool. Some used lures were on the counter and I got a Bagley Fat Cat and an ET 2 same as new. The bait monkey happily gave his blessing by providing his best Roland Martin impression saying "Oh son!!!!"
  6. To the man that loves fishing and lures there isn't any small purchases- only smallmouths uh and largemouths these baits bringing out my poetic trying sound smart side ?
  7. Perhaps the lesser sentenced yet deadly Manslaughter Hornet!!!
  8. Deps buzzjets jr
  9. Just with bowls of cereal but I have a lot of success with cereal when I do use them!! I would put grandpas lures up for keepers! Buy some new ones to use.
  10. A beautiful thing happened this Sunday evening! My bait monkey suggested I take measures to enlarge my topwater game. So I have on the way... Lucky Craft Sammy 128 in Aurora Gold Lucky Craft Sammy 115 in Pearl Shad Lucky Craft Sammy 85 in Ghost Nishiki
  11. I'd suggest Bombers Long A. They have a great slow wobble. Many colors to choose from. They are known fish catchers. Deep divers are available to be used slowly to achieve wobble yet hit 4-5'. They can be waked. They can be jerked or simply cranked. They can be twitched on the surface. The older screwtail models can still be had under $10 a pop on the auction site. Just my .02...
  12. Yep and that size and color was carried by Walmart in the past so there should be plenty those out there somewhere. I have at least one somewhere. Nice little creek bait.
  13. From looking online there is nothing different about them. I read that the b freeze model was to be sold to European and Japan markets and that in the past may have been in colors targeted more to those areas.
  14. An unexpected tackle store stop resulted in an Evergreen ShowerBlow 125 in American Shad and a pack of Zoom Centipedes. Bait monkey nodded in approval at checkout
  15. First thing jumps out at me is the flint in flint river. In the past I knapped and hunted with my own stone arrowheads so I'd go with that. There is thousands of arrowhead types all with cool names. Football jigs= Tomahawks flipping= Spearheads swim jigs= arrowheads And as I said 1000's of point type names colors: black is obsidian, lots of chert variations to match common color patterns
  16. That's those Wuhan Wonders or Corona 110's... They look good to me and can be trained to behave accordingly to suspend
  17. I don't know much bout black hooks or red hooks but I do know if I could go fishing with J Lo I'd dig the worms, put em on for her and clean the fish and I'd let her use my fav rod n reel! ? Any chance you have one of her nodding yes??? ?
  18. I like to throw a lil whiplash into my hook sets lol. Dont be afraid to use 4/0 with the 5". Smearing a lil smell'm on your Senko don't hurt none. Set you up a Senko only combo-spinning reel-high vis braid-leader
  19. Ned rig is 1 option
  20. For the last 15 years I've always thought my Bomber Long A is Smokey Joe. It is black back, gray body and orange belly. is the spot still available in smokey Joe?
  21. Nice catch Jed. When I go newt angling I always pick up a pack of those 4" in slutty Sally color
  22. Can you describe that color for me? Is it the same as my fav Bomber Long A called Smoky Joe? I know you a Long A man too lol bet you liked that color in it
  23. What a silly thread. It goes over on Mondays, Tuesday's and Fridays only but if it's raining or below 63 degrees then it certainly goes under. It's all in the owners manual.
  24. Walked the frosty bank this am just before daylight threw the Spro Rat 40 in Morning Dawn, liked it so well I just ordered a size 30 in Grey Ghost! That and a pack of Senkos and the monkey said I was ok for the week... And no I didn't catch a single fish though I threw ratty for over 2 hours. Looks great though, it'll happen....
  25. Years from now covid 19 documentaries will state how Jim Sutter and his accomplice Bait Monkey Johnson saved both the economies of U.S. And Japan via online fishing lure orders...
