  1. IIRC, my Ultrex came with the separate puck. Don't know how I got it otherwise, but my memory is sometimes feeble. ?
  2. Prefer action of tailed grub over a paddletail on "minnow" swim jigs.
  3. Outstandingly aggressive or just-plain unlucky...you be the judge ?
  4. You might try searching articles on LOUISIANA SPORTSMAN's website. I can recall seeing him mentioned, maybe featured, in a recent article.
  5. Don't forget, if you're taxed on sales, then you can also deduct your costs on your taxes, just like any other "business". Talk with your tax prep professional.
  6. I'm not a slack line type of fisherman...it's always easier to feel bits with a steady retrieve and often the fish will hook themselves (crankbaits and the like). Then all that is required is a tug to make sure they are firmly pinned.
  7. Most common are needlenose gar, but the occasional bream, crappie, yellow bass, catfish, bowfin, one white bass, two chain pickerel, one buffalo and a drum or two. Once had a five foot alligator gar on a crankbait and spinning rod with 10# test. Tried to trap it between the boat and the shore so I could save my plug (a favorite obsolete make) but as soon as it got in shallow water it began flopping and broke off.
  8. I really pleased with my Falcon Low Rider Heavy Cover Jig (LFC-74H), especially for the price. Academy carries them as well.
  9. A-Jay, I believe the 20 percent off being discussed is not the 25 Days sale but an email offering ("Here's 20 percent off on your next order to ease the pain") for entering but not winning the blemished baits giveaway. The one I received has no expiration date listed.
  10. I'm with Catt...when it's always game day there's no need for practice, just living the life ?
  11. The Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries would frown rather forcefully on such an unsportsmanlike approach...and fellow boaters would probably frown on the resulting wakes/tsunamis. ?
  12. Maybe a subtle action sight lure is not the best choice for fishing in our swamp water the consistency of chocolate milk...but I keep trying it now and then hoping to be proven wrong ?
  13. Right here...never caught one on a Ned or a Wacky rig, and not because I haven't tried.
  14. I wasn't as fortunate on 12/30, but it could have been a temporary glitch or a cart problem since part of the cost was covered by a gift card.
  15. My cards were hit on two occasions after purchases at TW. They obviously have data security problems. On a recent order I intended to charge through PayPal for additional security but the ability to use PayPal was not active on checkout...that is not a good sign.
  16. Dang Catt, that IS doing it the hard way ?
  17. Come on down to Louisiana...you can bass fish all year and the food's great! Bet Catt would offer to show you around Toledo Bend ?
  18. Colorful juxtaposition of old and new near Roy, Montana.
  19. I will hazard a guess that people who have the most interests/hobbies/passions outside of worklife are the ones who will most enjoy and benefit from the extra time and freedom that retirement can offer. That's certainly true for myself and my wife.
  20. Before I retired, whenever I was introduced to somebody who was, arms raised I offered a courtly bow and said "You are in the pantheon of my heroes ?" You, sir, will soon become a fellow member of our pantheon of retirees and I salute you in advance. It's a great ride...you've earned it so enjoy it to the fullest ?.
  21. T-rigged plastic worm is a given, sure thing, but how about an honorable mention: I always seem to have a rod with a small Countdown Rapala in gold shiner handy...saved me from the skunk on many a day and has caught keepers as well as dinks.
  22. Dang, I was hoping he would take up my invitation to go chasing feral hogs with me...love a Louisiana cold snap because you can hang 'em overnight, no need to finish breaking 'em down when you're tuckered out from draggin' 'em through the woods all afternoon. So what's it going to be, Catt? ? [End thread drift ?]
  23. Fishing a bayou in 18 - 20 mph winds the day before a major cold front rolls in doesn't seem to work...I know 'cause I gutted out all day yesterday for a dink LM and two needlenose gar ?.
  24. With years of working on a computer, my right index finger (mousing on computer/line control on spinning reel) gets downright painful after using one of my favorite spinning rods for a short time. I've solved the problem of what to use for lighter baits with two BFS setups (w/Curado BFS) and two medium action rods (w/Curado 70 MGLs). Ain't looking back, but gazing on a rack full of spinning rigs that will get hardly any use in the future. Me, I'm trying to give up buying more crankbaits since I already hoard an inventory that would stock a medium to large size tackle store.
  25. ... you get no holidays and you can never call in sick ?
