Bass Boat Price
I paid 8K for my 2010 Tracker 175 with 90 HP motor. It had 132 hours on it and was in great condition, I bought it from the original owner.

Looking at used- should Evinrudes be avoided?
The old carburated 2stroke Evinrude/Johnson outboards are great engines as long as they have been maintained. The first few years of the Evinrude fuel injected and 4 stroke motors had a few problems but they have been worked out by now. Mercury outboards are very reliable as well.

Lower Unit Gear Oil
Brand doesn't really matter as long as it meets the correct specs. I use Walmart Supertech oil in my lower units.

Towing with a 1/2 ton truck....
When it comes to gas trucks always try to get the lowest available gear ratio, 3.73 would be fine but 4.10s would be better. In theory higher gears like 3.23s get better fuel mileage, but in a real world situation where your working the truck that's rarely ever the case, the engine doesn't have to work as hard with lower gears so it will often get better fuel mileage.

I have backed my single axle trailer off of the ramp a few times, never had any trouble pulling it back up.

Jumping back into the boat market
New for under 20K you need to look at the Tracker Classic with the 50 HP motor. Or a Pro 170 which is the same hull with a different layout.

Mercury OptiMax - Spark Plugs/Lower Cowling?
The 75-115 Optimax only has three spark plugs, I didn't have to remove the bottom cowling to change the spark plugs on my 90 hp.

Lower motor unit oil question
As long as you left the cap on it there is no problem at all.

Lower unit oil
80w90 and 90 weight are the same viscosity once up to operating temp, the only difference is the 80w90 flows better when cold.

Noco Genius Charger
Was looking at their 3 bank 12 amp charger for when I put my 24 volt trolling motor and extra battery in my boat. Seems like a good deal for $150.

Yes the 6.2 has proven to be very reliable, they even put it in the f150 for a few years 11-14 I believe.

They do make a F150 with a factory supercharged 5.0 it's rated at 750 HP. Regardless what was said before about there is no replacement for displacement still holds true, a 3.5 liter Ecoboost making 15 psi of boost basically makes it equivalent to a 7 liter naturally aspirated engine.

That's only because the Ecoboost has turbos, a twin turbo 5.0 V8 will stomp a V6 Ecoboost, and yes they do sell twin turbo kits for the 5.0.

What era are you talking about? I have a Jeep 4.0 ( an engine design that dates back to the 60s) with almost 250,000 miles on it that still has excellent compression and doesn't use any oil between 5K oil change intervals, same goes for my 7.3 Powerstroke with 170,000 on it. As a mechanic I have seen several Jeep 4.0, Ford 300 I6, 302, 351 and 460 V8s, Dodge 318, 360, and GM 305, 350, and 454 engines with 200K or more that still have good compression and don't burn any oil, all of those engines were designed in the 60s-70s and used all the way up to the late 90s or early 2000s. Its the newer engines that have issues with excessive oil consumption, Ford, Chrysler and GM have all had quite a few recalls in the past 10 years because of excessive oil consumption in their engines.
